No detailed notes taken. This is quite powerful and intense with lots of dark red and dark berries, lots of meaty notes, smoke and minerality. While already quite harmonious and round today, this wine needs another decade to become softer and lighter. The substance and precision are quite impressive here.

Tasted at a restaurant in Beaune. Meaty profile initially, intense fruit of sour cherry, ripe in style and even adding elements of fresh fig. Slightly lactic, but also beautifully savory and herbaceous. Powerful, firm, juicy but masculine palate. Becomes softer with fresher red berry type of fruit with time in the glass.

Serious Burgundy night: My contribution. Popped and poured, this was good to go from the outset. Beautiful, intoxicating nose, the palate had the bright, sappy red fruit that I love in Burgundies. Seamless and so elegant - the ethereal, velvety nature of this wine made it stand out from the others tonight. Most voted this for WOTN, including myself.

Double blind tasting. A remarkable Clos Vougeot with no rough edges. Floral, smooth, and elegant with Grand Cru concentration, nobody on the table even come close to guessing the appellation. Co-WOTN out of 9 wines. Just realized I am sitting on a few bottles of ‘93 vintage inside long term storage, wines made by his father, a completely different era. Will be fun to compare in the future.

This bottle was very spicy and herbaceaous especially on the nose. Really stemmy and allost vegetal. Wonderful, red fruit driven palate and perfect integration of oak. Would love to revisit in 5-10 years time

La Paulée 2020 Grand Tasting of 2017 Burgundy (Pier 60, New York): Fat, sappy red fruit, blood orange twist, wonderful feel, and a ton of finishing earth. Young and packed with potential, but wildly delicious even now. The rare Clos Vougeot without any rough edges. One of my favorites today.
Tasted after 2017 V-R Les Beaumonts. Cherries, dark fruit, a little riper and more generous on the nose. On the palate good concentration and weight, grippy, fresh. Mineral finish, lots of finesse and persistence. 92-93+

EP tasting. Essence of blackberry mousse! Some thought it jammy; I thought it fresh and zingy enough to come together eventually. Bought: the only certain want from the tasting this year.

La Paulée de New York Grand Tasting (Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers - New York NY): Walk around tasting. Bright red, yet slightly backward. I didn't get much out of this today, meant to revisit later in the day, but ran out of time.
