One-hour decant through a screened and aerating funnel. Some cherries and wild flowers during decant. No sediment. Wine was clear; ruby from bowl to rim with a small clear halo. After resting, this wine opened up nicely: cherries, flowers, fines herbs and cigar box. In the mouth: wonderful balance, nice fruit, some toast, with a slightly warm finish. It was a big crowd pleaser at the table.

I can't believe how good this wine is given the price. I love the half bottle format to use when I don't have guests. Notes of dark cherries, violets, lavender, tobacco, and cedar. Love that, despite leaving some prominent notes, the oak is so well integrated. The full bodied palate is such a delight with its medium+ acidity. The finish is long. Quite a steal at this price. Upfront ripe blueberries and plums with eucalyptus, dark chocolate and toasted clove. Delicious nose and well integrated oak. Sweet and spicy fruit on the palate. Rich and lively from entry to finish which had some bitter tannins and it could be longer. Still young and needed 2-3 years for better harmony and depth. A wine to be enjoyed for 8-13 years. 88-90 pts.

Medium dense red. The nose is lifted with a combination of red & blue berry fruits. A slightly glazed profile wit some purple flowers. Dense and rich palate ripe tannins but a lot of them resulting in a firm palate. Balanced and even texture. A serious Cabernet for the price point with good cellaring potential. Nice wine. 90 to 91 points.

A bit of hard alcohol up front, solid but not overpowering fruit, nice touch of acidity. A bit of graphite on the finish that comes a bit out of nowhere. Perfectly fine, a bit fruity and a bit hot, but still a nice wine.

This could be a decent house wine for the QPR. I have generally tried to stay away from 2017 due to the wildfires and smoke that year, but this seems to be a solid wine. Not overly complex, it has some rich berry taste, but the finish was not that long. I don't see this as gaining much with age, but for $22 it is easy to drink with food.
My favorite Sonoma Cab is a beautiful wine with intense notes of blackberry, blueberry, black cherry, herbs, licorice, vanilla, chocolate, and oak. Balanced, medium to full bodied, and dry. Great QPR in the $25 range.

Palate comprises blueberry jam, blueberry pie, bayleaf, baking spices, cinnamon, and licorice notes. Glycerine-like mouthfeel, dense and concetrated. Since the mid 1960s Beringer has sourced grapes from their 600-acre Knights Valley Vineyard to create a Bordeaux-styled blend that typically performs well above its pay grade. Their 2017 iteration is no exception. An opaque crimson blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot that was aged for 20 months in French oak (27% new), it is a medium-to-full-bodied wine that offers abundant red fruit, baking spices, bittersweet chocolate, licorice and black olive tapenade on both the nose and palate. Freshly acidic, seamlessly alcoholic (14.8%) and with just the right amount of spicy oak, it wraps its flavors with plentiful silky tannins and has excellent mid-palate density. Finishing long and smooth, this is a wine with broad appeal. I get excited when I find a Cabernet of this quality at an affordable price. This bottling will force any oenophile to do the math when is comes to deciding how many bottles of something such as this could be purchased for the same price as one "cult" Cabernet. While in no way implying that this is of the same quality, I am saying that there are indeed great values to be had within Sonoma County and (with some search effort) also to be had within the Napa Valley. Enjoy this delightful wine throughout the decade. Drink now-2030.

Mouth: Warmed plum, blackberry and light cassis notes take up a light hint of sassafras, dried cedar and espresso creme before polished tannins check in.
Overall:Round, with ripeness to the edges of the small berries it shows, this is friendly and approachable. A smooth ride, but missing good depth and structure.

Needed a 1+ hour decant to loosen it's youthful grip. The nose shows dark fruit, currants, licorice, and fresh herbs on a bed of new oak. Well made, plushly textured, and gushes with luscious, black currant fruit-centered sweetness. This will shine in 2-4 years.

Very solid wine. Deep, rich color. Flowery nose, with hints of herbs and bubble gum (!). Dry, medium-bodied, still a bit astringent. Lots of dark fruit over solid tannins, with some oak lurking in the background. Moderate finish. Has some depth. Classy stuff. Think this may improve with another year or two in the bottle. But drinkable now.

A juicy, pretty wine, with aromas of ripe black currant, ripe blackberry, pencil lead, eucalyptus, mint, lifted green notes, vanilla. The tannins are strong but will be in balance if the wine is paired with a protein-heavy meal. A little sweet on the palate, as California reds meant to be drunk young increasingly seem to be. Good acid.

Knights valley was the first single vineyard wine Beringer ever made.
Boysenberry, lavender and distinct from everything else. PR here is about consistency.
The reserve is a little gem carved out of the best blocks. The thought is with the Knights Valley they get everything ramped up.
Apparently the vineyard site was going to be flooded for a damn when Nestle bought the property. Then that deal fell through at the state level which left Nestle with this amazing piece of property. Winery totally revamped in 2013 with the aim of making high quality wine.

Given how young this wine is, it is surprisingly quite drinkable. Soft tannins and lots of fruit, it tastes more like a Sonoma Cabernet than one from Napa. Im sure this is only a hint of how good it will be in a few years.
