Red apples and mushroom flavors but also some lovely bitterness. It is fresh but still with a touch more sweetness compared to todays new champagnes. Still, a nicely developed wine that is at its peak right now despite the apparent aged flavors.

Lovely, generous, old fashioned richesse, love it. So,e dosage here, I suspect, boudoir-style, lots of brioche and promises of the dark night. Great champagne, AD seemed to think so to, emptying the glass in record time.

After two less than convincing bottles, this is once again in fine fettle. There is real depth and spicy Pinot Noir richness, great mineral energy even at this advanced age, citrus peel, excellent follow-through.

Friend brought to dinner - PnP; Clean appearance with definite burnt yellow coloring. Great nose showing a well aged champagne with some butterscotch and hazelnut background behind a ripe apple core with adjacent orange, lemon citrusy flavors. Bubbles were very present and helped lift this wine to a nice level of excitement. Very enjoyable.

One if the reasons why I like this wine is that while citrus dominated, it’s not just lemons, but toss is some tangerine and orange zest. It has a nice mousse and fine bubbles. Not terribly spicy for a Drappier, it is elegant with its acidity holding firm, a great mouth cleansing feel and quite pleasing as it slides down your throat.
Very different from other Drappier champagne which are mostly PN. Definitely cellar worthy and very much in its own style. Great with grilled Octopus.

Not sure that this bottle is entirely as it should be. It is rich and vinous and spicy, but the aromatic complexity is conspicuously absent, it feels a bit monolithic, muffled. Low-level TCA maybe? I am scoring it “as is”.

750ml; PnP; Like previous notes, this is drinking very well. It does not have huge acidity but certainly provides great character for the wine at a great QPR. Brioche and apple - who doesn't love that? I wish I had more....

From magnum and in a very good place. Still very fresh and bubbly with a smooth and cremy texture. Very long. The lime freshness is an interesting combination with the much more mature notes of toast, mushrooms and mature apple that clearly tells you this is not a young champagne. All in all a good example of how it sometimes pays off to bury even quite ordinary champagnes deep in the cellar.

A private dinner with friends (at home): Not quite as impressive and expressive as the bottle tasted in May 2016; closer in style and quality to the bottle enjoyed in September 2014. The nose is quite closed initially and almost feels a bit reductive, but opens up nicely with some oxygen to ripe, complex fruit, spices and fresh mushrooms; rich and gentle, mature but fresh palate, with lovely weight and a fine, elegant minerality; slightly light finish with notes of almond and honey, very good length.

Superb development already. Brioche, Coffee and hazelnut sprung from the glass. Really nice low dosage with nothing near that sickening sweetness. This was a biting force of acidity and I loved it.
This magnum could easily have seen another 10 years before popping it but man.. What a treat already. This will reward you for not touching it over the next couple of years. Worth seeking out

M so glad to have 3 more bottles of this. It was really singing after it had been allowed to breathe on ice. Initially it was like most champagne freshly poured, tight, yeasty, acidic, but as it sat and gained some air this took on some really nice notes of red delicious and golden delicious apples, candied ginger, white flowers, pie crust and some toast.
I was at a gathering where we had 26 different Cremants, Sparkling wines, Prosecco, new world Blanc de Blanc and even 2 South African entries. This was so much more acidic to start and tasted drier than almost every other wine to start, but with that air time, this was so,idly the best WOTN with its subtle sweetness hidden back amongst the flavors.
Scharfenberger, the South African, the BdB from the NY State Finger Lakes and even one of my frequent sparklers, Baumard Cremant d'Lore were very good, but this was class, rich, creamy and so multifaceted.

Rich but youthful appearance, lively effervescence, medium-fine bubbles; the deep and complex nose is showing some beautiful tertiary development with notes of white truffle and Champignons de Paris, fruit of ripe citrus (orange, lemon) and red apple, vanilla cream, mineral freshness and an autolytic note; the full-bodied palate has a lovely balance between richness and freshness, with a wonderful stuffing of succulent fruit, a creamy texture, silky mousse and complex and intense flavours, very subtle bitters; layered and expansive finish, great resonance, very good length. This is now in full bloom, and will not run out of steam for at least five years - maybe even ten.

Drank from magnum and no formal notes. It is a beautiful and smooth Champagne. No aggressive carbon dioxide or acidity. Beautifully dry, but not bone dry. Everything in perfect harmony. This bottle seemed to be completely ready for drinking.
Popped my last bottle of this and it was great. Hugely flavored champagne - bready apple flavors with lime. Good acidity and length. I wish I had 6 more of these.
Excellent to have one of these along with 2002 LP as a reference point. This was not my bottle but really showed how structured Drappier GS can be with some Pinot spiciness but dominated by the autolytic toast and the orange oil that made the finish so well. Such a clean champagne and a super value. I wish drappier had better distribution in the USA. we all love it.

Sweet apples and a lovely structure. Some bread is showing nicely with touches of fig-jam and peached. Overall it is a lovely bottle, not overly complex but just very nice. Perhaps lacks a little in the aftertaste. Still something I would seek out for the right price.

Impressive Côte des Bar Pinot Noir power and weight, lovely depth and richness, fruit of red apple, balanced by the mineral incisiveness of top-notch Côte des Blancs Chardonnay, citrus, flowers and a hint of nuts, tightly wound, beautifully balanced, still vibrant and fresh, hardly any tertiary development. Impressive and stylish, seems rather more slender than in January 2012; hasn't budged since November 2013.

Académie des Cinquante Champagne Tasting (Villa Oldenhoff, Abcoude, Netherlands): 55% Pinot Noir, 45% Chardonnay, vineyards in Urville (majority), Montagne de Reims and Cramant, six years sur lattes, low sulphur (40 mg/l), liqueur d’expédition aged in wood, dosage 9 gr/l. Correct colour, no premature deepening in spite of the low sulphur level. Rich, stylish, marries Côte des Bar power to Côte des Blancs elegance, expressive fruit, elegance, citrus and minerality on the finish, lovely.

This vintage champagne is so wound up and tight. Even with several hours of air, it just wouldn't relax. Pleasant and dry, all was not awash. The fruit is hardly noticeable as it has such a laser-like precision and this is bone dry, taught and perking with acidity. It has a very good future after spending many years in the cellar. I don't think I will try again for 10 years.
PN 55%, C 45%. On the nose rich but elegant PN (smoky, almost fishy), balanced by succulent but minerally C with a hint of exotique; excellent, almost Burgundian weight and intensity, delicious silky texture, rich but subtle, lovely Côte des Bar fluffiness, lovely finish with hints of nutty evolution and Turkish delight. Excellent wine. Drink now - 2017.

Dreamtastings' Eve (WiVino Vinothek, Wittlich): No formal notes or score. Like the 2000 this is also made in an oxidative style, but this is much more youthful, filligreed and more elegant. Beautiful notes of yeast, lemon and limes, bread-crust. Very good champagne from what appears to be an underrated producer.

Aged Bordeaux, Champagne, Chef Toby Joseph and a few miscellaneous wines (Casa Covolo): A surprise for me. I’ve enjoyed Drappier’s NV wines in the past, so I picked up this bottle and was thoroughly pleased. Reminded me of a better version of Vueve Yellow Label. Fresh and fruity on the nose with notes of honey, nougat and flowers. Slightly aggressive bubbles in the mouth. Very nice Champagne.
