Just a classic Priorat from the first smell to the last sip. Mineral, licorice and everything you expect from the licorella soil. Fantastic wine and sadly my last bottle of the 2012. Lots of life left.

Licorice, some smoke and laurel in the bouquet. On the palate a very firm and tasty wine with a lot of dark impressions. There is good acidity and still beautiful tannin with a pleasant bite. If you like firm and powerful wines, this is for you. I don’t think Burgundy adepts will appreciate this wine very much.

Beautiful and concentrated bouquet with smoke, tar and leather. Licorice and laurel as well. Same on the palate. Beautiful balance between acidity and sweetness. Good length with some pleasant bitterness. 92 - 93

A more traditional chewy Priorat with some rounding from age, herbs, llicorella, lots of sunshine, glycerin, ripe plummy and berry fruit, some oak influence, this seemed like it had no trouble with extraction and richness though it was a challenging early year, and what I found to be nice balance.

Awesome concentration and intensity, just the right balance between fruit, heat, tannins and acidity. Great with meat dishes - perhaps a tad too powerful to enjoy fully without food.

PnP. no decant. Clear, dark purple. Rich, concentrated nose. This is less fruity with more earthy tones than when first sampled at release, no surprise. The extraction is high but the alcohol has blended in well. Tannin's now soft, full bodied and dark profile. Grenache Blend. Nothing off. $39

From 75cl, perfect cork. Very attractive scent, with herbal action (bay leaf = "Laurel") and brighter, lighter fruit notes than I'd expect for a Priorat, but a good dark sinister undertow reminding us that Ancient Carignan is King. The entry is depressingly pedestrian: Buffered, barely expressive, light to medium-bodied (for a Priorat) and lacking compexity or the fire-in-the-belly a 40+€ wine from this region should present. On the mid-palate there is, at last, some bright acid gain, which leads seamlessly to a satisfying, medium-long finish. Given the extraordinary quality of the (sub-)20€ offerings from Mas Doix, Mas d'en Compte etc., let alone the best of Montsant (Acustic Brao, anyone?) I won't be re-buying. 89-90P

Off the by the list at Keen's steakhouse for a reasonable price (by NY standards). Opened and decanted and went through a few of these bottles. This is still a bit young for my taste, but a very drinkable wine and a good deal. Nice fruit. Went well with steaks. Good for a broad group since it has a bit of something for everyone.

Intense dark ruby colour. Big nose of wood, blackcurrant and some spices. Very big yummy powerful fruity cherry flavor from start to finish. Fruity bomb but not over. Still in balance. Notable heat with 15% abv. Good solid concentrated body. Tannin was a bit young and slightly aggressive but I like its energetic performance now. Good complexity given by the minerals. Can either age or drink now.

Wow. Lots of vanilla! American oak? Have to look it up.
Ripe black fruits of cherry and blackberry. A touch or iron on the nose as well. Same fruits on palmate. Medium acid and tannin. Med alcohol. Complex on the finish. Very well integrated and drinking nicely. Well worth the price. Superb Priorat!

High intoxicating nose of iodine, essence of Priorat, very ripe black fruit... Very delicate and at the same time long aftertaste of 20 sec, very polished ripe black fruit, zero tannins, very silky with perfectminerality and acidity, very fruity... I just love it!!!

With some air this is open for business. Predominately red fruited with abundant spices, some floral and a hint of black fruits. Fresh and bright, but plenty ripe. Not super focused but expressive and fun to drink. The Grenache stood out to me.

Intense red/violet and clear in the glass. Exotic and highly aromatic nose with raspberry, violets, basil, and fresh forest notes. Everything that is promised on the nose, is delivered to the palate. Savory, with crunchy red and black fruit, chinese five spice. Firm, smooth, and mouth-watering. Long supple five spice, floral finish.

Straight after opening it's way too young, sharp and alcoholic. After an hour some nice taninns emerged. Initially I mistook this for being tempranillo based when it is predominantly grenache.
This is a great wine with soft rich dark flavors. The brambly black fruit, granite and cedar aromas just leap out of the glass, which belies that flavors that follows. There is balanced rich sweetness to the fruit, pie filling like, that helped this wine hold up to our crawfish etouffee. It also drank beautifully on its own. The gritty and dusty granache component really struts it stuff on the hedonistic finish.

Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75): Bright maroon garnet, some clarity, bright maroon rim; young, fresh, raspberry, sour plum, tar, sweet tart fruit, vanilla; dusty mineral, tart dark fruit, sour plum, berry, sweet, sappy, deep, some dark fruit, almost some leather, higher acid, beefy, big but nice freshness; more of a Burgundian styled Priorat, very young with nice potential, 91-93.

Dark purple, pink, with highly perfumed ripe, tart cherry, flowers, sappy peach and cherry. Plenty of breadth, persistence, and richness. Very long finish. Yep, this is good, and for 40 bucks, a great value (relative to its region, pedigree, etc). Drink now or later... or now.

In the nose, menthol, dark berries, lavender and i also find a little nice oak, vanilla in the background, smells fantastic. Taste is smoth and low to medium acid, quit approchable, red berries, strawberrie with nice length. Can be mistaken as nebbiolo if it wasen't for the dark color, a really nice wine.

I think the drinking window should change.
The wine does have a bit of ripe fruit flavor however its still kinda tannic so it does have more time

Similar to the bottle on 11/23. Extraordinarily aromatic. Exotic. Complex, with ample, fine-grained tannins.
Hard to say, but I think it's the small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon, that helps makes this one so exotic.
