Pausing for the Cause Fundraiser and Dinner (Obelix - Chicago IL): In contrast to the 2003 getting tired, this isn't even close to ready and not yet fully enjoyable. Rich and dense, but clearly reserved and coiled with taut structure. Nicely floral start with good richness certainly bode well, and I expect 93+ point potential, 2028 forward.

Decanted 1 hours, drank a couple of glasses over the 2 hours after that.
Nose of lemon, vanilla, guava, orange blossoms.
On the palate, meyer lemons, honey, white peaches, lemon pith into a finish of crushed rocks, salinity, light spices, lemon cream. Medium long finish. The pith bitterness seems to be driving the core of the palate and it wasn't super pleasant.
Saved the rest for the next evening (24h+). The pithiness rounded out and was much more balanced and pleasant.

Dripping with golden honey, the 18 MdT is impressive. Ripened, concentrated, full of flavor. Initially kind of soft and plush, but with air, the acidity kind of peeks out. For an 18, it’s chiseled, but there are some marshmallow notes that work their way in with oxidation such that I do think this is an early drinking vintage. Delicious and worthy of a splurge.

Had a couple of small pours. Laser focused, but accessible, with a mix of white fruit and hints of golden chardonnay notes. Quite stone driven. narrow palate, but quite light and no hints of the warm vintage. Surprisingly persistent finish for such a ethereal mid-weight wine. Hard to put down.

While it does have a greater shade of ripeness theres still good energy in it. So while there is depth and volume, it is no where near fat. I enjoyed this and will drink more of it.

Fantastic. Transcends the vintage. WOTN when tasted alongside Roumier, Ledru, Fourrier. You would never guess it is from one of Chablis hottest recent vintages. There is balance , complexity and poise at every moment of the experience. Very complete.
Minerals but also a fair amount of fat. Blind possibly more a Corton or good Chassagne Montrachet than a Chablis - guess due to vintage. Impressive. As good if not better day 2.

Very balanced but intense nose of ripe apple, lemonpeel, lactic tones and wet stones, very powerful on the palate with very long finish and a lot of complexity. By far the best Chablis I've ever had, however needs lots of air to shine. We had the first two glasses at lunch, the rest at dinner, and this worked wonders.

Bisato with friends: Oh wow, such a baby, so crystalline, it pairs effortlessly with pretty much every bit of food we threw at it, long, mineral, citrus pith.

This needs serious time in the cellar (or a loooot of air). The wine started out as being somewhat astringent and oaky, and opened up rather slowly. The last sip was the best, and showed intense lemon and wet stones, some cream, apple, pear, and some oak, with an intense, long finish. This is a great wine, just not yet. Rating is for drinking now, but there is significant upside.

Krishna’s bottle, PNP at Mark Gallops birthday party at Nari. Lemon, orchard fruits and oyster shells on the nose. Deep and fairly viscous palate, ripe lemon flavors wrapped in a gorgeous deep, lively texture. Very compelling wine albeit more Cote de Beaune than Chablis character, and one to watch for further upside.

Enjoyed a bottle at BIX in SF! Awesome young Chablis, decanted it and it really came around. Paired with local Dungeons crab Louis and other seafood apps. Can’t go wrong with BIX, their live jazz, food and Raveneau.

Touch of lemon, hint of honey (though not honeysuckle), and layers upon layers of sea salt. Splendid bottle, truly an experience to eat oysters (meaty, briny Island Creek) and drink wine made from grapes that grow in clay soil with fossilized oyster shells. Substantially less citrus presence than in Butteaux but not absent either. Lauren’s wine of the night, though it’s an easy somm pick. @ Hawksmoor

Wax. Let’s give it a sec. Chilling on ice for a bit. Giving the Raveneau apologists some time to think up their next excuse. BUT… it is facing-off with the Aubert. The lightest hint of oak, touch of white pepper, TONS of acidity. Honey, hint of caramel, more white pepper. @ Gramercy Tavern

Big and opulent, which is unsurprising given the producer and vintage. We all called '18 blind, but that's not a terrible thing -- '18 is a better White Burg vintage than many have suggested. This has rich yellow and orchard fruits, a smooth texture, and more than a whiff of oak. It does need some time to settle down, so this score may be conservative.

Tasty wine for sure, but fell a little bit flat for me tonight when served alongside many other great wines. Quite rich and round, not as much acidity as I would have liked. Would need to revisit this on its own to give a proper score.

Really just awesome from the start but better with an hour plus air. More fruit/floral and less reductive than I was expecting. Melon, honey suckle, mineral, white flowers and slight matchstick. Young but delicious.

Dinner at Boulud Sud in NYC. Reasonable markup on this beautiful wine. Took a good hour to open. Nose of honeysuckle and mineral. Very clean. Full and balanced in mouth - but still some tension. Developed a subtle musty funk over time.

A private dinner with friends (Wine Bar Oocker, Amsterdam, NL): Deep and stony, fine energy and drive, ripe fruit and even a bit of honey, creamy lemon, hint of butter, essentially a rich wine but youthfully tight, excellent terroir expression, inimitable ‘style du maison’, seamless finish, excellent length.

PNP. A gift from Keith. Consumed with caviar. Honey, lemon and sea brine on the nose. Lemon infused palate with a lithe texture, rich without weight, lightly acidic. Long finish. Long life ahead for this wine.

A whiff of ocean, white flowers and hints of lemon tart. Very elegant on the palate, nothing fat or round, perfect balance of salinity, acidity, minerality with fruit beautifully integrated. Amazing wine.

Bottle was opened for a day so it was open and ready for business. Rich ripe orchard fruit. Mid palate has a buttery softness. Nice acidity to balance the richness, with a creamy finish.
