Smoky, leathery nose. Some desirable barnyard. Solid black cherry core, spicy notes and crisp acidity. This wine finishes very well and is drinking great.

Ripe blackberry and blueberry notes, plenty of oak and olive notes to provide a counter to the fruit. Did not feel excessive as other commented in tasting notes, perhaps time has been a friend here. I would suggest drinking in the next few years.

I like the depth here but the overwhelming oak flavors and aroma at this point is causing this to be out of balance for my palate. Your mileage may very.

Best Burger Event, Monthly Tasting Group (Jason and Tracy's, Mpls, MN): Talk about a wine divergent opinions... this is it. Never had it before, not sure what to expect. Have to say I was surprised in a good way. Definitely an old world wine and i did enjoy it, very earthy and damp, deep red fruits, with good balance and some depth. Restrained in an odd sort of way. Seems to be in a decent place for drinking now.

Cupissimo rubino. Naso in cui giocano le note varietali e toni di inchiostro di china, balsamico, macchia mediterranea, bacche, spezie di ogni tipo. Bocca rotonda, potente, buona la freschezza. Nel finale emerge anche carruba

2014 Athens Wine Event ( with a bit of Santorini); 6/19/2014-6/22/2014 (Athens & Santorini): Blind tasted. No clue this was a Syrah, zero clues. Even Patrick who offered this and knew did not believe it was a Syrah. We voted a Ribera del duero.... Full on dark dense, modern bolgheri, full of ripe core of fruit, sweet notes from the oak. Well round though, no hash edges . Rich dark fruit. As a wine it's pretty solid but definitely a result of heavy handed wine making, but somehow it worked. 94 and drink now.

G6 (Alex): Deep ruby color. Black berry nose. Tastes of blackberry, cherry, earth, and anise. Totally unbalanced and disjointed. Only alcohol and oak on the finish. Awful. 14.5% alcohol.

not my bottle this time, and while performance was clearly better than my last note, this wine is really a disappointment again. at least the rest of the CT! community has wisely avoided it all together. smart. i blithely hoped some bottle age would flesh this out. no. you can hold this wine until parker is dead, and it ain't gonna come around. hard as nails tannin, brittle fruit. terrible QPR.

everything else has sucked tonight, so why not this ultra rare piece o' crap, too? decanted 2 hours, and poured back in the bottle for transport to the tasting. when i first opened the bottle, i thought it might be corked. i have/had a back up bottle, but i rode it out, and it did give off a faint nose after about an hour. very clunky in the glass. i didn't want to risk driving home with an open bottle after having attended an offline, so i didn't get to try it again overnight. everyone hated this (including me), but i felt it was the only truly backward wine in the tasting, and i say hold 'em for a long time if you've got any.

4BOW: Italian Wines (Backstreet Wine Salon): Cherry jello, leather and blackberry. Very heavy handed with the oak. Hot, oaky finish. Out of balance. Very tiring to drink. No rating. 14.5% alcohol.

The nose shows a bit too much alcohol. More pleasant in the mouth with fruity acids, black fruits, mint and toasted impressions.

DRIED PLUMS, BLACK CHERRIES, CHOCOLATE, AND LEATHER IN THE NOSE. BLACKBERRIES AND LICORICE IN THE FLAVOR. NICE COMPLEXITY AND A LONG FINISH.

Not Rated. Meat, red fruits, a bunch of oak on mouthwatering tannins. Just massive. Not my thing.
