Deep ruby. On the nose this is genial and expressive, leaping from the glass with notes of fresh huckleberries, blackberry jam, fresh cranberries, crème de fraise and wood smoke. On the palate this is full bodied with medium+ acidity, attractively fresh and decidedly red fruited flavors... but also an assertive and unmistakable astringency coming from alcohol. This is par for the course with Zinfandel, of course, but I find the alcohol jolting here as it disrupts the silky texture and fresh fruit notes.

Opaque ruby purple color with an enticing red berry, peach, black raspberry, earth, bergamot, red licorice?chalk dust and spice perfume. In the palate, it’s medium bodied and one of the freshest Zins I’ve had with dusty tannins. It shows ripe black raspberry, strawberry confit, dried Morello cherry, vanilla red licorice and spice flavors with a clean, long finish.
Fruit for this wine sourced from estate certified organic vineyard was on the west side Paso. Panted in the 1920s on ancient marine calcareous soils, the vines are head-trained and dry-farmed.

Really enjoyed this one with Pappa John's pepperoni pizza after the storm. This has been THE most consistent vintage from this vineyard to date. Every bottle has been a 94 if memory serves and this is my last bottle. It is just great dark red, spicy zin fruit with perfectly balanced acidity. Sad to see these gone.......
PnP. Had with BBQ rotisserie chicken, corn bread, BBQ beans. Steamed broccoli.
Would have liked to let it open up more, but this was an impromptu 2nd bottle with dinner opening. Pesenti worked out well. Not as heavy as some of the bigger Turleys (which worked out well here). Some alcohol bite in the nose, but nothing too abrupt. Good fruit and Zin aromatics. Wife liked it as well.
Better on night 2. More fruit amd just keeps on giving on the finish.

Extra bottle pulled from the luggage aboard the Glacier Express as we had another stop to go before getting off. Many proclaimed this THE best zin they've ever had. True, it is a somewhat limited group of travelers and wine drinkers, but still, it was quite good and an excellent representation of the Cali zin, as always.

Boy, how this vineyard floats my boat! Almost from the pnp and throughout the next hour this is drinking superbly! Pesenti always has that high toned acidity, reddish zin fruit, white pepper and the requisite brambly tidbits. So good. This is what Cali zin is supposed to be......
Pnp at the HMC's for pizza tonight. Right from the get go this is classic Pesenti. Follows my previous notes on this bottle. Great bright red fruit, fantastic acidity. Just so much going for it. A real pleasure which I can see getting at least 1-2 points better going forward.

Palate: still fairly closed and tight, Black raspberries, black licorice, Finish: More black raspberries and black licorice certain amount of tannins and structure. Tasting well. Not as good as the Ueberroth. I suggest PnP on this one. Seemed to lose flavor during the course of the evening sitting in a decanter. Best taste was the first.

I started with a full case of this one. I doubt it will last long. This was another bottle consumed at a restaurant.....opened for 45 minutes. It does not need more than that. I have also reached an opinion that I do not sense this wine will improve. So, if I drink it too quickly, that will not be a problem.

Dark ruby color. Lighter than many turley zins. Nose of tart raspberry, spice, and dried leaves. Black raspberry and a touch of pepper with an amaretto finish. Extremely easy to drink, particularly after bring open 30 minutes.

What a wonderful ZIN. I was licking the inside of the glass to savor the last drop. Perfect balance, well structured and complex. Dark color, great nose, long finish. Great combo of upfront fruit and mild tanins, but not in your face. Great right out of the bottle and not overly hot. A little pricy @$53 but well worth it.

Nose shows cherry and freshly cut pine wood. Dark red cherry, black cherry, damp earth, sassafras and heavy spice. Black cherry, more spice, and oak. Smooth and very easy to guzzle!
Nice wine but, and excuse me Larry for saying this, it still does not equal this wine before you acquired the Pesenti vineyard. But do not get me wrong, it is still delicious although a little bit more harsh than its mama. Lots of fruit in the nose and in the taste. Nice aftertaste.
(Tasting at the Winery) What a wine! This vineyard delivers year after year, offering iron fist in velvet glove elegance. This vintage has that in spades. Amazing purity. Candied fruit on the palate without any sweetness. A quiet bouquet at this point in its development. Oh, the potential of this one. Drink 2022 to 2033. Outstanding.
Spectacular.....classic Pesenti in every way and this vintage rocks! Vibrant acidity, wonderful spice box/pepper and weight in the mouth. The red and black raspberry fruit, slight orange rind and long finish are sheer pleasure. A point or two better than the '18 Dusi last night.

The 2018 Turley Pesenti, like all vintages of this wine, offers surreal flavors of concentrated, liquid fruit candy, along with black tea and black pepper. This wine ages well due to the high concentration, but I don't think it improves.
Blind tasting for New Years Eve. 4 zins: Rombauer 2018, Klinker Brick 2015, Ancient Peaks 2016, Turley Pesenti Vineyard 2018. Ancient Peaks most preferred by a landslide. Turley was a little hot out of the bottle and may need some time. Klinker Brick a close second. Pains me to say but Rombauer a distant 4th. Both Ancient Peaks and Klinker Brick offer great value. Hopefully future vintages keep up the quality. Nice work!
Drank with their Dusi, which we liked more because of its more open, round, cherry style. This is darker, more concentrated, more structured, with more tannin. Still excellent, but we prefer the Dusi style. Ric

At a friends for a nice patio dinner. Drank this after a 2013 Turley Judge Bell. Fun to drink these, its been a couple years sine I have had the wine. PnP, drank over 90 minutes.
Saturated ruby color. Nose of dark berries and smoke. Ripe palate, dark fruits, plum, blackberry jam, baking spice, black pepper. Lingers through the mid palate. Medium body, long finish.
Rich and powerful wine, this is still very young. Worth trying some now and cellaring the rest for a few years. A lot going on with this wine, will be interesting to see how it develops when its in the 5-7 year range.
Lost my notes, but this was the best of the 4 2018 Turley's that I have tried in the last couple months: Pesenti Vineyard, Mead Ranch, Dusi Vineyard, Juvenile.
Tasted as part of a virtual event thru a local wine shop; Medium body, strong aromas of berry fruit, blackberry Jam; good balance, reasonably smooth for young wine, moderate remainder on the finish; fruit flavors dominate. My favorite of the wines covered.
