Wonderfully bright red fruit and rose petal notes. Smooth, open and balanced after about an hour of air. Not as layered or complex as the Monvigliero, but delicious

La Festa del Barolo: A Taste of Verduno (Locanda Verde): Just wonderful - can see why this was such a heralded vintage. Beautiful and fresh and bright and darker fruits and that lovely lightness in style. It’s still young and there’s just a hint of tannin but this is a wine that just makes me smile.
Young and still very structured. but has a lovely aromaticity and lift that keep it from being too introverted and flat. Still has considerable structure to integrate.

Burlotto Barolo Tasting + X (Freiheit Vinothek, Ulm, Germany): Hmm, I am sure, that I am describing the correct wine, but reading my notes for the Acclivi and Monvigliero it sounds like i have mixed them :) Wonderful complex nose! Extremly fine tannin, great, clear sweet fruit. Beautiful balance and harmony. Very concentrated. Loong finish! Amazing! 95+

Didn't show well at all at first when opened at Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels. Very jammy and cherry cola-ish that appeared to be a cross between a Bojo and a new-world Pinot. Left it for a day and brought it to Harwood Arms for dinner, the jamminess was still there but the floral elements were more evident. The palate showed signs of coming together with more strawberry and plum fruit, and the tannins seemed more integrated even if they were still rather fierce. Don't open these for a while yet if you have any.
Very classical bouquet more on the red fruit side with sour cherries, some raspberries jam and lots of spices (cloves, white pepper, …) blending nicely with the floral aspects (roses, some violets). Very pure and refined tannins with a good grip make this quite easy to enjoy in its teenage days. I guess it will probably even improve with time and develop more complexity.

Monthly Tasting Group: Italy It Is (Ciao Bella, Mpls): Medium dark red color. Small glass over 30 minutes. Same bottle as Chablis28. Lovely purity, red cherry, transparent, youthful, underbrush, anise, firm but round tannins.

Not a single vineyard. Rather from an old vine blend that includes the vaunted Monvigliero along with vines from Neirane & Rocche dell Olmo. Couldn't resist taking the opportunity to try one. Opened 4hrs prior to dinner & finding it mostly open & elegant went with that till I left for Ciao Bella. At just short of 80 degrees it was slightly warm on Ciao Bella's stunning patio even under the trellised shade at first so, I kept the btl lightly chilled in my wine carrier for a good hour plus. Removed cork again 30 minutes prior to drinking after things cooled off nicely.
Pretty translucent bright red that turned a bit more ruby in the glass. Lovely but restrained aromas of fresh berries, rose's & spice. There is lifted elegance to the mouthfeel with some youthful but tolerable grip on the finish. There is a precise and somewhat compact array of red & dark fruit, spice, mineral and faint herb & tobacco leaf notes. The purity & class of the fruit is admirable, to say the least. The nose needs to further open up & the structure to more fully resolve. This is not a beast like some Barolos so it should show significant progress in 3-5yrs. Ill try my next 2026+. I love Burlotto!

OCG’s Burlotto dinner (67 Pall Mall): As with the normale, quite classic and austere in feel, with the same overall feeling of brightness and freshness, but unsurprisingly with more to say for itself. A soft, herbal nose, with liquorice. Upon tasting I experienced loads of sharp red fruit (with occasional hints of candied sweetness), and a feeling of ever-increasing amplitude despite the wine's medium body and fresh feel. Unsurprisingly, a really long finish.

Translucent ruby colour. Strawberry and mint both nose and palate - very good wine with the Burlotto style winning over vintage in my view - not a bad thing per se though I didnt see the denseness and fruit depth of the 2016s but very enjoyable and approachable early nonetheless

A terrific wine, glad to try this fresh off the boat. The nose is very classic Burlotto - the Chambolle of Barolo. There's so much strawberry here, though also a fair bit of tar. The palate, as is typical for the Acclivi, is more traditional and is dominated by balsamic notes. The palate is rich, but unlike the 15 version of this wine there's no heat - much better palate integration. A delicious wine that I think is ready to go now, though it clearly lacks the subtlety and precision of its more impressive Monvigliero cousin.
Tight and powerful aromas, almost a bit stubborn and not quite giving yet. But here it is darker red fruit, licorice, balsamic vinegar, road dust, truffle and tar that create aromatic complexity.
Pretty full-bodied and refined Barolo. Really linear. Creamy mouthfeel. Lovely fresh red berry fruit, light orange peel, tar, licorice and some mushrooms. This is silk dressed around The Terminator. More dried fruit on a very long and good finish with firm tannins that bite well. Lovely wine. 94 points.

This was an absolute spectacular bottle of Burlotto's Barolos. It was super fine, super fragrant and fabulous fine tannins. What a pleasure!

This was beautiful, elegant, floral, red fruits with rose petal and fine, spicy top notes. Intense and long but weightless. Worth the chase for now.

93-94 today, 95+ in time. Has a very grippy tannin structure that begs 5+ years before cracking one open. Wish I had more.
