We had our good friends over for our usual sushi night and it turned out to be the 8th anniversary of the passing of their son. So the wine flowed as did the memories. We spent the evening reminiscing about good & happy times. So two bottles of this wine was consumed with the sushi. A nice yellow color, a nose of peach, melon, oak and some citrus. The finish was long and lush.

My favorite compared next to Marcassin, Martinelli and Kistler. Very complex buttery-oaky aromas with matching mouth-coating flavors and a very rich, long aftertaste. Not sure I'm willing to pay the price. We still prefer Rombauer at $38 to any of them! Ric
Aubert with a little age is just killer and this one of their basic wines just crushed it tonight - crisp with fresh fruit and great balance / just awesome

Opened at a restaurant dinner with friends. One of the best chards I had. Zesty , fruity, great acidity , a little butter, all integrated into a beautiful cohesive whole.

Decanted one hour before service. In the glass, ever-so-slightly hazy medium gold. On the nose, Meyer lemon, damp wood, and a hint of thyme. On the palate, equal parts lemon and lime, with secondary notes of smoke, honeysuckle, and nutmeg, paired with a structured attack that gives way on the midpalate and finish, revealing a more silky and inviting texture. A really pretty Chard, and a great accompaniment for a mild curry chicken.

Lemon, lime and honeycomb on the nose. There's a sliver of tartness on the palate, but then candied lemon, ripe peach, lime and grapefruit notes. With more air some caramel notes emerge and this starts to show the layers of flavor that Aubert is famous for.
Crisp, lighter style Chardonnay from Aubert. Notes of butter, lemon and hints of popcorn on the finish. Not as creamy and expressive as some of the Aubert single vineyards…but still very good.

It’s Aubert what’s to not like. Definitely agree with previous reviews. Still very young and a little deeper gold too it. Saving 1/2 bottle for tomorrow to see how it opens up. Is breakfast too early??? 😀

While lacking the depth and finesse of the single-vineyard Chardonnays that dominate the Aubert portfolio, this wine shows creamy notes of orange, lychee and marzipan and a long supple finish. Better in a year or two, but little in its character that identifies it as Aubert.

A great Chardonnay from a top notch producer. I had Coravined a few glasses so only half bottle left. Needed something crisp to pair with grilled Ahi tuna. Perfect match with the lychee notes balancing the Unami flavors of the tuna.

Crisp yet also smooth. Lighter and brighter style like other Carneros wines which I enjoy as a change from the fuller chards of Sonoma. Can hold these a while longer

Unique foggy yellow color with slow legs. Lemon, butter and floral notes on the nose. Lemon lime, honeysuckle anda hint of orange on the palate. Long creamy finish with well balanced acidity.

Hazy pale yellow. Wet stone on the nose. Silky to buttery mouth feel. Buttered popcorn with a spritz of lemon verbena to a slightly briny conclusion. A complex Chardonnay. Not my favorite Aubert but a great intro to the grand cru of California!

Double decant + two hour slow ox. Hazy yellow color. Coconut, quince, burnt popcorn, and orange rind on the nose. Super creamy palate, with popcorn note carrying through. Fine acidity provides good structure on the back end.

Solid appellation wine! Beautiful juicy yellow fruits and poached pear, some jolly rancher and crushed rocks...acidity ties it all together at the end, leaving it far from fat or flabby. I’ll say it- if Coche (in a riper year) had a U.S. cousin, this is it!!!

Pop & pour- 10 minutes in the glass- light straw color- nose with arugula, butter lettuce, pear and oak. Taste is summer salad with pear and sunflower. Very tart at the end with a bit of black licorice. Overall, this is fantastic.

Double decanted and back in cellar for 3 hours and based on prior tastings this approach is the way to go. See other tasters' notes for specifics, and add a browned butter minerality on the back end of the other notes; really quite rich. I imagine you love the style or don't enjoy it at all. If drinking on its own a bit too rich and loses a bit of minerality as it warms; recommend leave in cellar or fridge until serving. Leaving 1/3 bottle corked in cellar to see how it fares overnight. Not a lot of experience with Aubert but excited to taste through the lineup if this is the entry level! Perhaps 94 if rating.

Very nice after about 90 minutes of decanting; the double decant approach worked well for this wine right now. More delicate than the Russian River release, needs a little more time and definitely works best with food pairings. I started with briny olives and eventually shifted to greens and other foods...that worked well. On day two after storing under vacuum cork, this wine is doing great. I'm really impressed with the Aubert Chardonnay releases: They are all different and worthwhile. And wow, this wine really did need double decanting, patience, and air time. More lime zest, white tea and floral aromatics, very tasty overall. It's quite rewarding at this point! Worth getting again for sure, especially as the "entry-level" Aubert Chardonnay. Amazing to think of it that way. I misjudged this wine before: I needed to pay more attention and give it more time.

Light shimmery gold. Notes gives me creamy coconut, some reduction, yellow pear, lemon, sea shell and salinity. Medium+ in body palate bursts with power, precision and richness. Passionfruit, fresh citrus, banana. Great intensity on the finish.
I loved glass 1, I liked glass 2; beyond that it got a bit rich and monolithic for me, but overall the best in the business for this style.

Classic Aubert nose. Fruit was muted even after opening for a couple of hours and warming up. This has good acidic character with yellow fruits. Lacked density and complexity. A 2018 William Harrison Chardonnay from Sangiacomo outdid this wine this afternoon. Still very delicious and better than most of the chards out there. IMO this still has a lot of growing up to do. If you have a few of these I'd probably hold them back a year or so.

Tasted over an hour. Clearly aiming for a lighter style here: Less of the toasty potency, more of a delicate, creamy, citrus zest profile. Oak takes more of a back seat with this release and it's refreshing. Fascinating how this wine has no malolactic or oak notes after a while; totally different style from Aubert. Enjoyable!
