  • Tone’s 75th Birthday Bash; done blind: palish white straw; such a classic aroma I immediately said “Chablis, and a damn good one!” Crushed stone, green apple, very flinty; excellent body, crispness of acidity. Should age brilliantly.

  • A riper Les Clos, for sure but everyone remarked on how Chablis the nose was after initial sniffing. Petrichor, wet stone aromas of yeast, pale orchard fruits and fresh lemon citrus with subtle inner mouth perfume, elegant florality on the supple midpalate. Pliant and rounded without undue weight. Comes across as very primary and attractive but needs more bottle age to reveal more authoritative flavors. More creamy than in other vintages, for sure.

  • Layered and on the rich side of concentration but lazer focused and long. Wish I had more. Just stellar performance.

  • Solid Chablis, good structure and minerally. Nose seems a bit closed. Next day didn't budge too much either.

    <edit: ignorant comment about diam10 - diam10 is legit, doesn't indicate maximal aging duration>

For me personally, I'd prefer Rav Chablis, one more data point for me that producer trumps everything.

  • I've been a lucky frequent guest of Dave & Desi D's & recently for a feast at Big Al & Janelle's. So, we had both couples over tonight for some trout & Linguini Di Frutti Nita, I & Joe cooked up & paired w/ a couple champagnes, a couple Chablis & a couple red Burgs.

I had the luxury of retasting this again the next day where it seemed to have added some complexity & notably a tangerine / orange zest top note. As on the first night, this seems a bit more unified, balanced & graceful than the wonderful '18 Fevre Clos. The '18 have has amazing power and punch but needs to relax a bit more than the '19 Moreau Clos. This wine is pretty killer right now and obviously it will be even more impressive with 3-10yrs addl time in the cellar. Very classy! 94+

  • took a while to open up (5'ish hours in decanter) but then really really good for its level... not on the modern / rich side, but with nice salinity and citrus fruit... feels like this will be good in 5 / 10 / 15 years... only have four right now unfortunately

  • Superbe Clos de Moreau encore une fois, fin, frais, tendu juste assez, très pur. 93+

Gorgeous Clos from Christian Moreau once again, good acidity just perfect, finesse, elegance, freshness, very pure and precise, superb.

  • Wow. This is sensational Chablis. Apples, Meyer Lemon, chalky mineality, fantastic texture and acidity for days. This had an elegant quality that really makes it stand out from the pack.

  • Moreau's 2019 Clos is rich but blessedly not too ripe with apple and floral notes preluding a palate of intense minerality. Excellent length. The vintage allows some early accessibility here but this deserves five-plus years of rest.

  • Not a typical Chablis drinker. Quite pithy, strong citrus notes followed by some minerals and salinity overtime. Definitely quite young and needs to calm down.mI’ll be curious how this evolves over the next couple years. Definitely give it time.

Superbe. 94+ pts

  • Les Portes d'Or de la Bourgogne - Les Grands Jours de Bourgogne (Chablis France): Walk around tasting. Big step up here over Valmur. Same collection of apples aromas and flavors with even brighter minerality. Dense throughout with an expanding finish. Very good.

  • La Paulée de New York Grand Tasting (Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers - New York NY): Walk around tasting. Similar profile as Valmur. Slightly less opulent aromas vs Valmur, and slightly more intense and minerally towards its very long finish. Cellar at least 5 years from now.

  • 100% organically farmed Chardonnay from a 3 ha parcel in Grand Cru Les Clos, the plots averaging 52 to 61 years old. Fermented spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. Aged for 9 months in oak barrels - of which less than 5% were new and the rest 2-to-4 yo barrels - (50%) and stainless steel tanks (50%), then blended into stainless steel tanks and left to marry for another 6 months. 13% alcohol. Tasted blind.

Medium-deep youthful greenish color. Youthful and somewhat sweetish nose with intense aromas of ripe peach, some apple jam, light lactic notes of pear yogurt, light floral notes of apple blossom and a hint of stony minerality. The wine is ripe and juicy yet firm on the palate with a medium-to-moderately full body and intense, dry-ish and very youthful flavors of ripe Golden Delicious apple, some creamy oak tones, a little bit of steely minerality, light chalky tones, a sweet hint of apple jam and a touch of apple peel bitterness. The bright, high acidity lends great sense of intensity and structure to the wine. The finish is fresh and lively with a lengthy aftertaste of fresh apple sauce, some sweet notes of ripe white peach, light steely mineral tones, a little bit of chalky bitterness, crunchy hints of spicy red apple and a primary touch of ripe pear.

A very youthful and at times even primary Grand Cru Chablis that seems to hold a lot of potential for future development, but comes across as very ripe and rather sweet in its primary overall character at the moment. In our horizontal of three 2019 Christian Moreau Grand Crus, this wine covered the middle ground between the ripe, fruity and a bit softer Vaudésir and the racy, more mineral Valmur, showing characteristics from both the wines. While quite impressive with great sense of minerality and bright acidity, the wine felt a bit too primary and fruity for my preference, which is why I'd let the wine age for a good handful of years more. I can imagine this wine will show just beautifully once it drops some of that baby fat - the potential is definitely there. Perhaps not quite worth the 61€ at the moment, but most likely things'll change as the wine ages.

  • Ganske beskjeden nese. I munn er den også vanskelig tilgjengelig. Syrlig, god kons, bra lengde. Nesten umulig å vurdere nå.

  • Laser focused and a little hyper-chiseled on the back end, at least enough to push the perception of acid ahead of fruit for the time being. Green apple skin notes battle with lemon and limestone flavors to elbow their ways past the nervy and pulsating housing. Hold for at least 3+ years (ideally 5+) and take advantage of the DIAM closure. Very fine indeed, but certainly linear at the moment. A lot of room to grow here. 93-94+ point potential. Moreau is a solid producer, and one whose Grand Crus I align with the likes of Fevre in both style and general profile. I suspect it won’t ever be a total showstopper, but a solid effort for sure. Try again after 2027.
