Nice color, nice finish, still a good balance of fruit and tannins and secondary flavors. However, a nose and finish of stewed fruits never dissipated. Drank alongside a Second Flight, a HSS, and an Insignia, all with age - none had this nose/flavor, and all were more enjoyable. Not terrible, but not really enjoyable.

Unbelievably delicious bottle of wine. Drank it along with a bottle of 2005 Canon La Faffeliere at Vaca Steakhouse in Costa Mesa. PNP, this was great from the 1st moment and just kept getting better through out dinner. Layers and layers of flavors come in waves over the palate. This wine makes me thankful that I get to drink something like this once in a while!

Decanted about an hour. Served with grilled steaks. In a really good place now. Aromas of cherry, blackberry, currant, rose petals. Similar flavors leading to a long smooth finish. The tannins are silky smooth. Really well balanced. Starting to show some secondary character.

To Kalon Night at Collyer Catering (Collyer Catering): Very excited to try this. After having the MX and Mondavi this kind of fell somewhere between those two. Aromas of cherry, blackberry, currant, plum and rose petal dominated the nose. Nose was on a very even keel. The palate was equally impressive with flavors of cherry, blackberry, dusty berry, earth and currant. Ended with a long finish that sailed on for at least 40 seconds. Not a fruit bomb by any means and very balanced with a long life ahead of this. Very nice showing for this wine.

An evening with friends and a lot of wine (Chris and Renee's Home): Jeff K brought this. It had been opened earlier in the day for lunch and had a couple of glasses left, so I started with it, to make sure I got a taste. The nose has nice cassis with a streak of cinnamon. On the palate, cassis and some coffee grounds. It is drinking well and showing some tight layering. Of course, by this time it was well aerated. Nice finish. No hurry here, but a very nice showing. Glad I got a try as it turned out to be my WOTN.

Deep ruby/garnet color. No flaws. Minimum sediment. A little rim variation. Medium fruit intensity. Earthy nose. Strawberries, cherries, raspberries. Organic. Some leather, herbs, and spices. Dry. Low acid. Low tannin. Low alcohol. Medium finish. Our last bottle. Certainly within its drinking window. Probably at peak.

High octane killer! Impressive from the nose. Defined fruit character with lots of alcohol. Taste was big bunches of fruits such as cherries, leather, graphite, and mocha. Finish was one of the longest I have had in recent memory. Lasted over 1 minute. This is one of the best California Cabernets that I have ever had. Wish I had more!

Drank this and a 2004 Realm BTK side by side with my Air Force pilot son in law as a treat before he deploys next week to Afghanistan. Wonderful experience but I'd say the Realm edged out this Schrader. This is a well balanced restrained modern cab. It is silky, almost feminine with soft red fruit and a nice lift from its backbone. Long and fine grained on the finish. Not as much complexity as I hoped but lovely in its purity. Not a great QPR however.

This wine was showing just a hint of brick on the rim of its ruby red core. Not an overpowering nose, showing a bit more restrained than expected, with black currants and a touch of green bean. Medium bodied, a bit more restrained than the more current versions of this wine, showing a bit more balance. Quite a pleasant wine.

This was damn near the last wine of the night, I think #19 of 20. So, that said, my palate was starting to labor a bit. My notes show juicy, dark berry and quite young with tannin. I wish I could have spent more time with the wine but I had run out of palate power.

Decanted for an hour at Lavanda and paired with filet au poivre. Beautiful, well-balanced Napa Cab but not a blockbuster. Blue/black fruit, cassis, licorice and toasty oak. Just coming into its own and still fairly tight but not overly tannic.

6 courses paired with SQN, Schrader, and Torbreck wines (Bellevue, WA): Decanted about 4 hours. Dark violet color. The nose showed dark cherry, cassis and vanilla aromas. The palate revealed flavors of blackberry/blueberry, mocha, earth, and spicy oak. Smooth mouthfeel and a nice long finish. Very approachable for a wine that is just entering it's drinking window, but could easily rest for many more years to come. This wine was an incredible pairing with a truffle crusted tenderloin and garlic brocollini. The spices, (especially the truffles), really highlighted the best of what this wine had to offer. I just love those pairings when the wine and the food both taste better together.

When first opened this was completely over-oaked! However given 6 hours resting in the bottle it became extremely well balanced with loads of complexity and was my WOTN.
