Beautiful wine in a good place. Perfumed with plenty of rich red primary fruit still in abundance- red berries and cranberries. Evocative secondary, smoky overlay with emerging complex herby, mineral notes, with hints of cherry spice, charcuterie and refreshing salinity, with that rich red fruit base tone playing on in the background. It opened beautifully, such a pleasure, such a delight, such class.

On Thursday, we drank a few wines from the North Rhone blindly. Well made wines, but with very different styles. The WOTN was the E. Guigal Cotie Rotie La Mouline 2002. Classic and consistent. Amazing. The second wine was the Thierry Alemand Cornas Chaillot 2011. Great wine. For some it was the WOTN. The third wine was the Clusel Roch Cote Rotie 2006. Modern style. Good. The 4th wine was a huge disappointment. Bernard Levet's Cotie Rotie La Chavaroche 2012 looked like a Chilean wine with excess of guava.

Plenty of fruit, with some pleasantly tart cranberry notes, some earthiness, silky texture and good acidity. Nicely balanced. Mature, but still has enough structure to go a bit longer.

Definitely feminine. This reminds me of David Lett's adage about how color & concentration are be inversely correlated for Pinot. In this case, the smaller frame lets the rest of the package shine. Lighter body. The nose starts out w/ a leather/charcuterie character. Ripe, briny olive tapenade on the palate. Tannins are well integrated. Like actual olives, the finish feels clipped, but still present minutes later. I don't think that this has anywhere to go, but this bottle would definitely last a couple more years & would be a good QPR at $60.

yeah, this is the stuff. dark fruits, mushrooms, smoked meats, and forest floor. Super sexy, polished, beautifully rendered. Why do I wait so long between bottles of N Rhone??

Really blossomed with time in the glass, suggesting to me that the CT drinking window should be extended. Lighter bodied than expected, with notes of raspberry, vanilla, fig and pepper.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Alpharetta, GA): Reddish violet, clarity; raspberry, Chateauneuf like in the nose, fig, vanilla, custard, clean, bitter tick in the finish, white pepper; delicious, was on '09 CdP but that didn't really make sense looking back at the notes.

Dark red. Some forest floor on the nose. Red fruits, slightly tart in a pleasant way, silky texture and good acidity. Elegant and vibrant. This wine has several more years of life ahead of it.

Dekantert 1 time. Frisk og klokkeren syrah med bjørnebær, krekling og snev av pepper. Pen bærsødme i munnen, ypperlig i møte med skogens konge. Beskjedne 12,5 % og tilgjengelige tanniner. God lengde. Gir et mer modent uttrykk etterhvert som luften slipper til. Undervurdert årgang.

Bright red in colour. Rich nose. Spicy and savoury. Fruit on the palate, but takes a few secs to come in. Lots of spicy and blackcurrant on the palate. Robust flavours. Lots of heat on the finish.
Everything more integrated on day 2. More balanced and more integrated. Suggests that should be decanted for longer.

Bought in a bin end sale so I can't be sure of storage but having had two bottles I can be sure I won't be purchasing this again. Aromatically interesting with some florality and noticeable viognier influences that go some of, but by no means all of, the way to masking the oak. The palate however is a huge disappointment. Thin, attenuated, dominated by acidity and dry tannins, this is now little short of vin de table. Definitely on its way downhill, the oak sheen is even now struggling to hide the paucity of fruit.

Comes across surprisingly polished even a bit oaky. Obviously a bit hard to taste after two natural wines. Also, this is clearly young and quite a few years from showing more nuance is my sense. Concentrated, purple but slightly polished fruit. Lacking the feminine character of Côte Rotie, but may just be a matter of patience. At Kensington Wine Rooms in London.

Initially we're unsure if it's a Clusel-Roch or a Domaine de Tunnel in the glass ;-) since the nose is almost muted. In comparison with Jamet's 2009 CdR here's little to find. Besides an recognisable yet very low-key syrah character, a hint of volatility, some pencil ink and christmas spice. As we taste the wine, the muted impressions continue. Almost flat, the acidity doesn't sing at all, but the midpalate mouthfeel obviously has good silkyness. The wine doesn't really show its class until there's some food to work with. At last we can appreciate how the taste builds a nice arc with its elegant structure and decent length. After a few hours the nose and palate opens up with a bit of smoked sausage and saltiness. Well, it's a risky business to open côte-rôties between 4 and 7 years of age...

Tjära, söta körsbär. Lite för mycket alkoholsmak som inte är helt integrerad med smaken. Bra i mellansegmentet men kanske något kort eftersmak. Syrah är inte helt min druva i alla lägen

I'm sorry but I just didn't love this wine, especially at this price point. I wanted to like it as a burgundian quality wine, but it dissapointed. It had some nice fruit, but was tart (as noted by another commenter) and didn't have a fabulous finish. I would pass going forward.

This was a CT Secret Santa gift. Decanted for 90 minutes prior to tasting. The main taste was cherry with good fruit and complexity. The nose was a little hot at first, but the alcohol sent burned off quickly. A great Syrah that is worth buying a few more of for later.
The wine looks Garnet colored. The legs are Medium. It smells like Cherry, and Mushroom. It tastes like Cherry, and Butterscotch. The body is Medium. The wine is textured Polished. The wine finishes Medium.

This wine is totally Burgundian in character and it is sometimes referred to as the "Amoureuses of Côte Rôtie". Needless to say this is very elegant with pure, stylish fruit. Clusel-Roch is the shit!

Medium depth. Delicious combination of licorice and soft caramel and fruit. Round and pretty much ready. Not as lively as the '07, but still a very enjoyable drink. Polished, well tamed Syrah.

Slightly tart and green cherries, smooth medium-bodied with nice dark plums. Quite a bit different from the Hermitages and other N Rhone syrahs i've been having lately. More feminine and less meaty/bacon/animal notes. And the viognier really brings a nice nose, but not really substantial or complex. 88 Day 3 - Beautiful. The fruit is sweeter and everything is in harmony. A soft feminine wine with smooth tannins 90.

Ruby red, slight orange edge, thin slow drops. Blackberryy, leather, red fruit, verbena, herbs, mediterrenean spice nose. Blackberry, red fruit, oak, toast, tobacco taste. Splendid fruit, mellow ripe tannins, pleasant tartness. Good balance, good time to drink now.
