Part of a "Little Brother" or 2nd wine night with my wine group at a NYC restaurant. It was opened, but not decanted for over an hour before pouring. Somehow, it was a little less impressive than my previous bottle. My 3rd favorite of the 4 reds.

90 min decant; This wine is truly outstanding! Rich, black fruit integrated nicely with acid and tannin, following through to a lengthy finish of vanilla oak and espresso with hints of dark chocolate. Kinda sad I didn't go deeper on this vintage...maybe I can find more. Drink now - 2033+.

Big bold and beautiful. In Bordeaux I never drink the second label but the QPR of the CVR is so good compared to the high end QC that I prefer it. This is also better than any CA can in the $50 price range. Great with steak!
I know this will sound “snobbish” but this was so much better than the $12 bottles brought by guests to my daughter and son-in-law’s home for Xmas. I kept this bottle off to the side and shared generous pours with my daughter. A bit selfish but the other guests aren’t into wine and wouldn’t know the difference. Cheers!
No formal notes but this drank great over three days. Depth and richness without being over the top, great wine for a steak but drinks well on its own. Great QPR, will seek out more.

Followed over 2.5 hrs, shame there wasnt much time since my last tasting of the '18 but really dig this tonight. The nose is somewhat restrained and you can tell that the there's much more to give across the palate in time, but this was a really enjoyable bottle that I can envision going with a variety different foods As well as drinking on its own.

This is a very good new world cab at a good QPR. Dark fruited and drinkable as soon as you pull the cork. It’s got a lavish smack of new oak and seamless tannins. I followed it over a couple of days and the fruit seemed to lose some steam on day two, when the oak took over. I usually find these fare better than this bottle did on day two. Perhaps it’s just the vintage or some bottle variation, which I have never encountered with this producer. Drink or hold.

Pop and pour, blackberry fruit and spice pretty much just explode on your tongue. Air time would have softened the wine but to my taste this bottle is tasting great. Low tannins and a long full finish.

Decanted an hour. Not sure what’s going on here. This vintage may be a dud (sample size 2). I usually love these wines, but both bottles have been heat and stewed prunes on the palate. I’m hoping it settles out over the course of the evening, but I usually find the 5 year mark to be when they start to sing. I’ve been drinking these wines for over a decade, so I’m not overly worried. I just hate to not love this wine.

A wee bit heavy on the oak but a very solid and spicey Bordeaux blend. Blackberry and blueberry fruit with a touch of herbs. Not the greatest from this region but its a high quality production. However, I'd argue that the price is too high; definitely not worth $70 dollars.

From a magnum that was brought to a restaurant, this wine was uncorked, poured and serially tasted over the ensuing 2-3 hours. Comprised of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc, it is an opaque crimson offering that remains packed with black currant and blackberry fruit. Full-bodied, fresh, proportionately oaked and with plentiful sweet tannins, it adds notes of anise, bittersweet chocolate, bark and loamy earth. The wine's alcohol (listed as 14.8%) is well-integrated and the mid-palate is layered. Finishing with impressive length, this young red is already showing beautifully (even from magnum format). Give it an hour or more of air if possible. Drink now-2033.

Coravin'd two sizable glasses, but they weren't given much air time. Restrained, dark fruit on the nose shows some leather. Dry silky mouthfeel is medium weight with more dark fruit; given time this begins to show some of the classic CVR, blueberry notes. Certainly enjoyable, but more of a traditional cab, then a classic QC CVR.
Will be interesting to follow the evolution of this, and esp to give it the time it likely needs.

90 minutes after decanting this has begun to open up and is showing ripe blue and dark fruit on the nose. Solid wine that's as easy to drink as any CVR, however this vintages strikes me as less dense, lush or complex than prior vintages. Tannins are there but they're faint and very fine grained.
I'll have to give my next bottle much more air, as I'm frankly shocked how much my experience differs from CaveD' and other tasters.

Red and blue berry fruit and tannins weren’t there at first but after 30 mins of open time you get a lot more complexity with rich tannins. A bit of green pepper with hints of cab franc with a really dry finish.

1st bottle of the '18's. Improved after being opened for about an hour and may need just a bit more time to find itself. We thought maybe just a little thin or light on the front end right now. I'll try another in about a year.

A big wine, need lots of air to settle down. Slow ox for an hour, then aerated into glass, still needed another 30 minutes of swirling to hit its stride. After that, an excellent wine with several years left.

Quilceda Creek's 2018 CVR is an opaque crimson blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc that is packed with black fruit, anise, bark, dark chocolate and loamy earth. Freshly acidic, seamlessly alcoholic (14.8%), proportionately oaked and with plentiful fine-grained tannins, it is layered and dense on the mid-palate and finishes with impressive length. This bottle was decanted through a Vinturi aerator and serially sampled over 3-4 hours. Give it at least a couple of hours in decanter at this early stage. Drink now-2033.

Consistently an amazing bargain when purchased direct from QC. I shared this with a few friends at a NYC restaurant and we all loved it. Full bodied, with a long finish. A little more fruit forward than the flagship QC Cabernet and accessible at a much younger age.

Fruit forward. A bold mouthful. Fantastic without aerating, even better with a#3 on the Venturi. It would be delicious with steaks, lamb or spicy pasta. We enjoyed it while sitting in front of our fireplace. Lots of bold flavors. Splurge and go for it!

Popped and poured. Fairly primary with a nose of cherries, currants cedar and tobacco. Very fruity taste, primarily cherries. Moderate acid and tannin levels.....HIGH alcohol level that is apparent in the taste. Medium finish.
Drink or hold for a couple of years. I don't know if this wine will hold up for long-term storage, but I don't intend to age it that long.
This is a good cabernet for the price, but the high alcohol and concentration distract from the enjoyment, imo.

Honestly just a great WA Cab. Considering The QPR, quite possibly the best offering from WA at this price or double this price for that matter. Great nose that rises out of the glass. You don’t need to search for it. Silky mouth feel, dark penetrating fruits, pencil shavings balances with soft spices, and a long finish with hints of dark chocolate that lingers. After each sip I find myself shaking my head in disbelief, and I keep telling myself I can’t wait for the next offering to continue to stock up.

Even at this early stage, it’s accessible. On opening, a gorgeous note of vanilla infused with boysenberry. Over the next couple hours, the vanilla faded and the wine tightened. At that point, would have been difficult to separate it from numerous Napa cabs at 2x and 3x the price except for baker’s chocolate. On the nose, mid-palate and finish. Tell-tale and compelling. For the price, this one is hard to eclipse.

Excellent CVR. Wow what a value. Still young, but vibrant, full for fruit and bright acidity. Full bodied. Long finish. Black cherry, plum, leather, graphite. PNP, enjoyed over several hours. Well integrated tannins, tight at first, but smoothed out. Bold, ripe fruit. Black pepper on the mid-palate. This is a great example of QC’s entry level wine, but punches way above its weight class. This is a bold, firing on all cylinders wine.

Deep, dark reddish-purple in color, bordering on opaque. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries & cassis with lovely overtones of earthy/dusty with spices, pepper, herbal notes, juniper, minerals & a slight hint of vanilla/oak in the background. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of dark cherries, blackberries & plums with herbs, spices, minerals, cocoa, oak & vanilla. Lingering smooth & polished finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting and extended airing but should continue to develop further with additional aging.

I've been on the Quilceda mailing list since 2006 vintage but have only purchased occasionally (as my mailing list budget has shifted to Alban, Saxum and other Rhone Rangers!) I recalled really liking the 2016 CVR but only bought 2 bottles so decided to get a 6-pack of the 2018.
Even on the initial pop'n'pour I got those green notes that you sometimes find in Cabernet. As a drank a few glasses over the evening the wine did not shed those notes which I found distracting. Also a bit of that youthful oakiness which should fade with a few years in my cellar.

From the outstanding 2018 vintage and is a blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, and 1% Cabernet Franc sourced from the Champoux, Galitzine, Mach One, and Palengat Vineyards. The wine is aged in 100% French oak. Decanted. Deep, dark ruby color with dark garnet hues. Glass staining and opaque. In the glass the nose presents with deep fruit notes of cassis, brandied cherry and blackberry that come packed with notes of cedar, cigar box, pencil shavings, baking spice, mountain herbs, violet pastilles, warm earth, dark chocolate, espresso and soft leather.
The palate, even with hours of air, is still very tight and reveals the youthful stage of this wine. Bold, deep and penetrating on the palate showing concentrated flavors of cassis, blackberry liquor, dark cherry, and raspberry pastilles that are tightly packed with notes of pie spices cedar, cigar, herbs, chocolate, espresso, earth, smoky minerals and touches of pepper and leather. The finish is deep and saturated unpacking slowly and at length. Great now with air, but should really shine with some cellar time. 92/93

Really nice wine. Ready for business now. After opening the wine, smelling the nose of the wine blind, I may have guessed Napa cab, but in the slightly more old school Napa. The notes below are all spot on, so I will spare you all the repeats of the flavor profile and tasting notes. Surprisingly open and ready to go. Great value and well made.
I have half a bottle of this I will re-open in a few days and update my note accordingly.
Really dark black and red fruits, cherry, plum, blackberry, licorice, anise, rhubarb, cinnamon and spice, drinks well as a PnP but should get better with 5+ years as per usual with this wine. Really great value.

For those who enjoy Washington State wines, this opaque crimson blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc is the cat's meow. Loaded with black currant and blackberry fruit, it is a full-bodied red that adds notes of licorice, tree bark, bittersweet chocolate and loamy earth. With excellent balancing acidity, well-integrated alcohol (listed as 14.8%), judicious oak and big sweet tannins, this is a joy to drink. The middle palate is layered and the finish lingers beautifully. Sourced from the Champoux, Galitzine, Mach One and Palengat Vineyards, this is a tribute to the blending genius of Paul Golitzin. Already drinkable when generously aerated, it should provide pleasure for many more years. Drink now-2033.

Great balanced red blend. The cabs bold rich fruit stand out but persistent silkiness of the leathery merlot make a delicious wine.

Lots of black fruit on the nose. Big wine. Very opulent. Blackberry, cassis. Huge finish. Still quite tannic. Drinks well now, but very young.

Has good bones and structure
Not quite as ready to drink as some of the 2018 wines coming out of California.
More restrained at this juncture

Drinking very nicely, but surely more muted this time around. Still a great wine though.

92/93

Very solid wine, but probably not quite ready to drink yet. I really enjoyed the CVR as the quality of fruit was excellent, but I’m going to wait a while before I try my next bottle.

Decanted several hours. Ripe red and blue fruit blend together into a delicious crowd pleaser. This is one of Washington's best values year after year.

Solid cab with lots of muscles. Nose and fruit is great and this is an easy drinker with plenty of depth. Decant if opening now. This will surely develop positively.
