EL Birthday Dinner (The Garden Table at Le Pavillon): The nose was so DRC. It jumped out of the glass with a high pitch and strong attitude. You couldn't miss it. This needs much more time. Unlike the other bottles that were somewhere towards the middle/end of their window, I felt like we are at the very beginning here. Noticeable structure and tannins. Roundness just starting. Give this time.

Perfectly stored example. Expressive youthful nose displaying gentle round red fruit, raspberry jam, cherry juice, strong sous bois and Vosne spice, porcini and truffle, light caramel, sap and earth. Perfectly integrated palate, layers upon layers of elegant sweet red fruit, expressive yet fluid and weightless, perfect amount of acidity and mineral, and a seamless long elegant sweet red fruit driven finish with Vosne spice at the end. This is drinking incredibly well.

Funk on the nose, grippy tannins still present. Got a little better with more air and certainly more interesting than the 83 echezeaux drank next to this. But just not my cup of tea in the company we had tonight. Enjoyed the more modern wines 1990’s and beyond. Or 1980’s and before.

This is stunning. Beautiful clarity of color. Delicate floral, lifted aromatics. Incredible purity on palate. Retains sweetness and acidity. (157/15955)

Good cherries and spices. Solid depth and complexity. Good earth notes and forest floor. Plenty of life and energy in the wine. Spice box, cedar, cherries. Very good tonight.

From a 3L and truly a lovely surprise, in beautiful shape and giving tons of elegant pleasure with loads of Asian spice, dried sweet red fruits, and a nice depth of flavors, this really was a treat and I may have under rated slightly. A real delight. Bottle #3. Rumor was back in the day DRC bottled the best barrels in large size bottles, I am a believer! This stayed alive over the course of the entire evening.

La Fête de La Paulée in Chicago (Formento's - Chicago IL): From 3L bottle seemingly in good condition. Lots of red fruit with sweet spice, all nicely mature with good length, very good concentration and even better balance, a rare treat for the vintage.

La Fête de La Paulée: From double magnum! Full nose has dried black cherry, mushroom, earth, iron and spice. Great layering to the pure, still sweet fruit. Lots of spice and clay throughout. A real treat.

Bottle was purchased off from tour argent in Paris. Fill is low. Pop. Nose has earth, tea, black fruit and plum. Palate has the drc structure. Seems to be off the peak but still enjoyable in the first 45 mins. It has dropped significantly afterwards. 91-92

Light Lumber in the High Country - Part 2: A great performance by an underappreciated wine and vintage. Earthy, but with a lovely perfumed element. White pepper, spice. Perfect quality.

La Paulée de New York Gala Dinner (Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers - New York NY): A fascinating comparison to our 1990-2010 vertical, this was fully mature with as much earth and fruit, layered with tertiary notes that added charming nuance, but less weight or attention-grabbing substance.

ERI Pre-Auction Tasting (Chicago Yacht Club): Wine tasting. Floral and charming nose. Intense aromas, softer fruit on palate. Great length and textures on the finish.
