Fresh, full-bodied and lively, this Corton Charlemagne clone was spectacular. Thoroughly enjoyed with top quality sushi and Joe’s key lime pie. Loved it!

Decanted one hour before service. In the glass, medium-pale, slightly cloudy yellow. On the nose, petrol funk, lemon, and smoke. On the palate, crisp citric acidity on the attack, opening into a smoother, more unctuous mix of lemon and smoky oak - not elements that evoke an unctuous mouthfeel, I know, but here we are. The finish tightens up with more acidity and what feels like some unresolved tannins - bracing, but appealing.

White peaches and tea on the nose, with a whiff of thyme. The palate shows notes of honey, peaches, and cream. Medium-long finish. Nice pairing with pasta and Delicata squash with a Béchamel sauce for Christmas Eve.
Aubert makes nice Chards, but I’m still not sure they’re worth double the price I pay for some of the higher end bottlings from producers like Williams Selyem and Martinelli. Maybe I’m drinking these too young, so I’ll try again with more age.

Carol was gifted this bottle by great CT friend Agelvis, a while back and with family visiting and Carol making her famous Miso glazed sea bass, it was a perfect time to pop it open. Decanted in the cellar for about 1 hour then poured at the table as we sat down to eat. Cloudy medium yellow in the glass indicative of its leesy unfiltered process. Sweet lemon cream, vanilla, white florals and maybe slight beeswax on the nose. Palate reflects much of the same but the main takeaway is the near perfect balance of the wine in all regards. This improved a point or two from 93 to 95 over an hour of more air and warming a bit to room temp. It remained balanced throughout and even after our meal as we sat discussing various menu/meal preparations for the remainder of the week. The wine is not overly weighty, nor oaky nor buttery, nor over acidified, it is expertly crafted and balanced. My brother had never had one of these before even though Aubert was the #1 wine of choice of his former CEO of many years. He very much enjoyed tonight's bottle. Thanks again Ag for the great gift.....
A beautiful chardonnay. Light citrus flowers on the nose. The palate is pear, lemon curd, hints of apple and just a touch of oak. An awesome finish which brought out a hint of pineapple just an awesome finish.

Another complex Chardonnay from Aubert with notes of lemon curd, lime, pear and Fuji apple. Rich, full bodied, lively and refined…this is another example of a great Aubert. Great acidity with a long, spicy finish.

This wine is miles ahead of its 2019 Eastside brethren (a wine I tasted yesterday and today), with the Hyde showing more precision, freshness, and energy in the early going. I’m not casting a verdict on both wines as to all time, but the Hyde is drinking better right now. Generous but tense, it’s a fantastic Chardonnay at the moment (and, I suspect, in the making).
Light gold in color and full in body, the wine offers aromas of lime peel, hazelnut, and quince. The flavors are nervy but harmonic, with notes of orange marmalade, praline, and saline, with an energetic and integrated finish. 15.2% alcohol. From a cooler climate site in Carneros, this shows the precocity of youth: to quote Fitzgerald, it offers “only a sunny smile, and little it cost in the giving, but like morning light it scattered the night and made the day worth living.” 96 right now, with upside in another few years.
My first of the 2019 single vineyards. It was good, but I'll wait on my other Larry Hyde bottles. It had the classic, big, Aubert nose, but the citrus flavors and finish was a bit off. It certainly improved with time in a decanter and warming up, but there was almost a sour finish at the end. Overall though, a really good wine in typical Aubert style.
Outstanding bottle that yet again justifies Aubert as my go-to when showing others just how great Chardonnay can be. There's no other varietal for which I have a a single, preferred producer like I do with Aubert and Chardonnay. As long as prices don't escalate, I'll happily keep buying across the offering. So good.
PnP over dinner in a Riedel bordeaux glass and followed a couple hours. Lightly reduced with somewhat strong toasted oak notes on this wine. Rich and high alcohol. Glycerin, coconut, vanilla, lemon curd and vibrant acidity. I liked its energy a little more on release and for some reason the oak and alcohol protruded a little more in this bottle. What it certainly isn’t is buttery

Intense stone fruit aroma. The flavor isn’t well integrated yet — notes of peach skin, tangerine, crisp green apple skin, melon. Mostly green, skin and seed-type flavors.
Simply not as good as some other Aubert chardonnays I’ve had lately - maybe an off bottle? Needs a long time to breathe and open up.

It's really amazing how no one wanted the Larry Hyde until this vintage scored so high. Now all of sudden, everyone wants the Larry Hyde! This is my favorite SVD Aubert (and it has been for years). And honestly, it really does not vary too much from previous vintages. LH fruit is extremely balanced. Very good acidity, yet also very good yellow fruit notes. Aubert is quite notorious for the juicy fruit notes, and this one does not disappoint. The nose of peaches, herbs, nectarine, rosemary. The palate has some acidity that is maybe a bit more than previous vintages but the fruit is classic Hyde done in an opulent classic Aubert style. Definitely going to have to pace myself on this vintage, given that I only have one more! Aubert Chardonnay is always a treat.

Left a glass worth in the bottle, with cork, in the fridge while on vacation. Opened 10 days later and it tasted like it had been opened just the night before. Amazing.

Hazy pale yellow. Much more open and forward than I expected, this jumps from the glass with aromas of baked apple, tangerine, banana leaf, lemon curd and toast. Nearly full bodied on the palate, this has a medium level of acidity and a bright, lightly phenolic texture. It is quite tasty though it will be interesting to see where this goes in the future.

Decanted 2 hours and 30 minutes prior to drinking. Service Temperature is about 60 degrees.
Color. Slightly hazy. Golden yellow.
Nose. Lemons, marigolds, almond paste, lemonceillo, orange zest, some white pepper too. 30 minutes later, nose is displaying notes of corn.
Palate. Orange coated, sugar cookies. It's an exotic palate for a Chardonnay. Acidity is bright and helps to delineate the flavors. Oak has some influence, but it's not over bearing. The finish lasts and lasts. Like 60 seconds+

Popped and poured. Pretty nose of white flowers, orchard fruit and acacia. The wine is quite crisp and energetic, with excellent concentration but not too much weight. There is a lot of potential here but it is too young and needs a bit more time to flesh out.

Truly a wow wine, intense mineral driven lemon, orange rind, grapefruit, yellow apple, kiwi, salty wet rock, camphor, white pepper, white flowers, perfect balance and amazing length and intensity. This is drinking very well right now but should do well for 5-7 years.
2019 Chardonnay Larry Hyde & Sons is the best Cali Chardonnay I’ve tasted to date. Sea spray, freshly shaved ginger, lemon curd with a touch of flint on the nose. The palate is remarkably fruity with lots of minerals, spicy acidity.

Really loving this version of the LH&S. It has all the typical trappings of a youthful Aubert chard, and I have previously characterized this bottling as the most citric/cool climate of the lineup. So, 2019 takes that a step further with regard to acidity. I have not had an Aubert with this much cut, and yet, it still achieves that mouth coating, tropically leaning fruit profile. Think kiwi and unripe pineapple against a backdrop of high quality, judicious French oak. Crazy delicious and it has great cellar potential. Alcohol is 15.2 (?) but tastes a degree lower than that.
The white burgundy fans that sometimes characterize these wines as over the top should really revisit this bottling or Eastside.
