Color is burgundy red. Nose is interesting, with smoke, cigar box, vanilla, cherry, red fruits, black pepper, florals. Mouthfeel is relatively thin. Palate is spicy, lots of heat on the front, black pepper, red fruit comes through. Flavors are a bit jumbled and alcoholic. Tannins need time to settle down. Overall, this came across as too peppery and lacking in complexity for me.

The nose, with its smoke, flowers, cocoa, and wet earth scents is a treat. But it is on the palate, with all its layers of lush, elegant, ripe, silky, blackberries, plums, and cocoa where the wine shines. Soft, supple, long and complex, with a solid depth of flavor in the finish that is packed with ripe fruits, chocolate and coffee bean, this is in contention as the finest vintage of Carbonnieux I have ever tasted. Drink from 2025-2045.

92-93 vvPunkte (60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 14.5% Alkohol) Rotfruchtig geprägte Nase, Waldbeeren, krautige Noten, HImbeeren, Sauerkirschen. 2027-2042 (April/Mai 2021)

Deeply colored, this is already showing off its vanilla bean, flowers, tobacco, cherry and currant character on the nose. Supple, soft and silky, with refined fruits that feel stellar on your palate, give this 4-5 years in the cellar and it is going to be even better. This should age for at least 2 decades. 91-93

Very very dark. Dark, macerated cherries on the nose, this has a sweet charm, a creaminess but also good lift, with some rich red elements too.
Silky in the mouth, very good intensity, lovely balance. Lots of black cherry fruit, some liquorice; plump, smooth with good freshness and easy tannins.

Very very deep colour More restrained than de Fieuzel. Understated but a nice ripeness, a mix of red and darker fruit with some attractive seasoning. The palate shows good density and richness, plentiful tannins and it does dry out a touch (and falls off a little too).

Excellent. Concentrated, medium length. Minerals, light cedar, tobacco, potpourri spice. Minimal fruit.

Deep red in glass, bold up front with smooth finish. A bit of mineral - wonderful in its own and with steak

Red berries, cassis, red cherries, quite elegant. Good acidity, leather tobacco hints. Structured yet refined.

The 2020 vintage UGCB tasting in Amsterdam 03/06/2023 (Amsterdam): Friendly softness, not very concentrated, but with some time to develop a gentle wine.

Airoldi - Bordeaux En Primeur 2020 (Quay Restaurant, International Passenger Terminal, Sydney): Blackcurrant, cedar, woody top notes and spicy on the nose. Medium plus intensity acidity and tannin, fruit struggles beneath this. Time should surely help but this. Simple.
