Château du Tertre's 2020 Grand Vin is an opaque crimson blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot. Serially sampled over several hours from a bottle that had been decanted through a Vinturi aerator, it requires at least three hours in carafe in order to fully express itself aromatically, ultimately unfurling an attractive array of Bing cherries, red currants, baking spices, cocoa, black olives and savory herbs. Medium-to-full-bodied, freshly acidic and with well-integrated alcohol (listed as 13.5%), it delivers flavors mirroring the nose, adding notes of licorice and graphite. Despite the wine's youth, the oak is already nicely assimilated and the plentiful tannins are silky-textured. Layered on the mid-palate and lengthy on the back end, this is a seductive Margaux that is already a joy to drink. Despite its early appeal, the structure is in place for graceful aging over the next couple of decades. Drink now-2045.

Wow, big bell pepper initially…. After 15 minutes, it has blown off showing red currants, deep core and a viscous body. While becoming more silky, I think it should cellar 5-7 years to round out. A nice value from Margaux at $55.

Cedar, spice, forest leaf and dark red fruits appear on the nose. From there you find sweet, ripe, chewy, red fruits that meld into an herb, olive and crisp, red berry finish. Drink from 2025-2045.

At the UGC Chicago. Mild fruit fragrance, muted fruit flavor though richer extraction on the palate, no obvious faults. Moderate aftertaste about 5 seconds, pleasing structure. I sense that it could evolve nicely over time though I have no prior experience with earlier vintages.

November 2022 in Zürich) www.vvwine.ch

Sehr reifer Duft. Frucht, Frucht, Frucht. Viel Kraft und viel Saft. Ein hedonistischer Margaux mit eingängigem Charakter. Sehr gute Frische. Lang und fein endend. Macht Spaß! 91-93

92-94 vvPunkte (54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc, 6% Petit Verdot, 13.4% Alkohol) Expressives Bouquet, zeigt Floralität, viel Kräuterwürze, delikate Cassisfrucht, auch Himbeeren, etwas Schlagsahne. 2027-2040+ (April/Mai 2021)

Following the initial shot of espresso you find flowers, wet earth, forest floor and dark red fruits. Medium/full-bodied, fresh and juicy, with a spicy edge to the creamy soft, sweet fruits in the finish. 90-92

Tasting through some 2020 EP samples with local merchants, so only short impressions. In general the vintage is ripe and plush but not excessive. The right bank examples were sometimes marked by high alcohol. Some of the lesser know Crus from Medoc on the other hand benefited nicely from the sun. TN: Different than the Medoc wines side by side, more cloves spices, medium bodied, soft tannins. Lovely

Fairly open feel, but some stink and salinity (low tide!)… kind of hollow too? Fleshy attack, open and juicy with some weight (but remaining on the lighter side). Has elegance, and a fine chalky grip. Juicy.

Speckled and spicy quality to the nose, dog biscuits (to me) and dark, crunchy black and red fruit. Lovely texture, rather silky, with a 2020 coolness; creamy in parts, fresh, with a toasty finish.

Chalky, vertical, quite intense fruit, Blackberry, blackcurrant, pepper, cedar-wood. Much too young, but very promising.

UGCB tasting Bordeaux 2020 Walkaround tasting so in general just short notes (Beurs van Berlage, Amsterdam.): Beautiful bouquet with well dosed oak, red and dark berries. Same on the palate. Juicy acidity and friendly tannin. 92

The 2020 vintage UGCB tasting in Amsterdam 03/06/2023 (Amsterdam): Maybe not its right moment, but now a bit green, good wood, pure, juicy, nicely balanced, but a bit lean now; du Tertre very often needs time to mellow and to blossom.
