This rich and layered Pinot is drinking well right now, with more fruit than nuance - but it is still quite tasty. Light red in color; medium in body; nose of black cherry, dried strawberry, and menthol. Flavors of raspberry, cranberry, anise, and rhubarb, with a sweet and elegant finish. 14.5% alcohol. My guess is that this is nearing the end of its drinking window, since it lacks some precision. 93+ at the moment. Drink soon.

Anybody who tasted this baby before now missed the boat. I opened a couple nights ago, and it showed nothing right after opening. Two hours later, it started to blossom. Vacu-vined it, and now two night later, its a WOW wine. Tanzers note says Musigny like, well, thats where it is tonight. Everything in balance, finish ridiculously long, fruit still very primary. What a Wow wine and a surprise! Absolutely coats your tongue and mouth.

DOUBLE BLIND 95+ DINNER @ DEERING BAY YACHT & COUNTRY CLUB (WINE CELLAR @ DEERING BAY YACHt & COUNTRY CLUB, MIAMI, FL): The wine looks Ruby colored. The legs are Slow. It smells like Raspberry, Strawberry, Cherry, Forest floor, Verbena, and Lavender. The body is Medium/Full. The wine has Polished texture. The wine finishes Long. Everyone IDed it as Cali Pinot, but not necessarily Sonoma. I bought 1@ of the first vintage(2006) of their wines, given Luc's background at Peter Michael. I believe the wines are overpriced, and can't hold a candle to Kosta Browne, Marcassin, Martinelli, Hilliard-Bruce, Talley, etc. Mark's wine(me).

I liked it a tad less than a couple of years ago. At times, it seemed like it would start expanding and smooth out, but it never went to great spot. A very good wine, but not worth the tariff.

A wine I would describe as "seamed" (as opposed to seamless). Ruby red, very cloudy. Medium body. The major components were sharply delineated: bright cherry fruit, sharp acid, noticeably marked by oak spice and, with some air, a vanilla component. All shiny surface and no depth. It was good, but a disappointment for the money.

Double decanted for 2 hrs in am, and decanted again for 1 hr at dinner. Muted bouquet. Savory Burgundian style Pinot similar to a good Pommard. This may have been infanticide. The score relects the wine on its own merits. Given the release price, $95, as Ellen said it mertied an 85. On balance Luc Morlet's wines seem to be well made, but his ego has led to an inflated price structure. In this environment I expect he will not last.

In the mouth this wine is fantastic!, but I gave it a lower score due to the limited nose. Over a 3 hour period the wine improved in the mouth only. If it had cost less, I would have been trilled. I would like to find one for bottle to taste next year.

Dark red. Rich and sweet nose with layers of dark fruits, sweet licorice, soy and earth. Also rich in mouth with a distinctive earthy feel, almost seems like an old-world terroir in new-world clothings. Very convincing!!

BYO Californian (Le Sommelier): Dark red color with a thin purple rim. Fat strawberry and sweet licorise on the nose, where the sweetness adds a feel of candied red fruit. Full bodied and intense on the palate, with loads of juicy red fruit. The midpalate and finish has notes of sweet milk chocolate and licorise. Nice length and a mouth watering acidity completes the picture.

barely discernable from any of the other pinots in this lineup. stop the vineyard specific garbage, and try to make ONE decent wine! probably not possible, but at least try. and, BTW, did we discuss the price of this wine? egregious for a first release. really, shame on me for even buying it. i have to get my head examined.

Compressed dark fruit flavors and earthy aromas right now. Even after an hour+ in the decanter it's too tight to give fair assessment. Concentrated, but just barely yielding some dark cherry floral hints around the edges. All the key components are represented here in a masculine, structured style. An infant. No need to try again for at least 2 years. Extremely promising. There may be magic here.

So elegant and balanced. Berry fruit well integrated with the supple tannins. A finish that lingers... It is smooth and lovely now. It will improve with some bottle age. Perfect for the Chineese New Year Celebration.

Outstanding! Full bodied, rich, complex. Some floral, dark cherry, herbs, forest floor. Wish I had more...it's in the perfect place now.

Wonderful richness and fruit. A bit of heat prevented it from being amazing.

Jeff Nowak's Tasting Of Wines That Really Blow (Backstreet Wine Salon): Strawberries and oak on the nose. Tastes of cherries and earth. Some tartness of the very acidic finish. My palate usually aligns pretty well with Tanzer but a 10 point difference! 14.5% alcohol.
