Opened 90 min before drinking. Initially, it was very light, almost thin. Got much better over the evening.
Very pleasant, great food old burg. Fruit forward, with raspberry and cherry, with a medium finish. In my experience, Groffier is an outstanding producer.

Decanted for two hours prior to serving, this wine is in a terrific spot right now. My first experience with this vineyard, the "pretty" chambolle perfume is immediately evident, and only intensifies over the course of a meal. Sour cherries and black tea stood out to me. The palate is soft, though not quite silky just yet. Plenty of acid made it the perfect accompaniment for my wife's chicken/mushroom casserole. This could only be burgundy with some age. Quite reasonably priced, to boot, if you can find it. Drink now, or wait.

Open for business for us this night, with a huge effusive nose of all things cherry and ripe red fruit, just an explosion. Clean as a whistle, spice and forest notes swirl in an out of a symphony of cherry. Balanced, caressing on the palate. More, more!

This is a public service announcement: if you or your family own or plan to purchase this wine, please be aware that it is NOT ready to drink at this point. Pretty much dumb as a post for over an hour after opening, some beguiling oolong tea, sandalwood, and black raspberry aromas start to unwind at about the 90-minute mark. And I mean, just barely unwind! Keep these sideways for another 3+ years at least; opening them now is simply throwing (considerable) money away.

Groffier Tasting, Mostly 2011s with Some Older Gems (Knightsbridge - Northbrook IL): Open 3 hours before serving along with the '02 Sentiers. Lots of red fruit just starting to mature. Very spice driven with excellent textures, that really showcased its "baby Amoureuses" character. I slightly preferred this, the group was evenly split between this and the Sentiers.

Dinner with Friends (SHS, Cos, Donnhoff, RM, +++) (Our home): This was pop and pour and it took some time to open up. The last glass was explosive. Ruby/purple in color. The nose is wonderful with cherries, cherry blossoms, and cherry candy. Full bodied. Layered but still not mature. Lots of cherries, some dried cherry fruit and a hint of forest floor. Long finish. Pretty wine and I wished I had some more to watch this over time. It is a bigger styled Burgundy but certainly shows its sense of place.

Burgundy 1er Cru Night (Jade Palace, Forum Galleria): This was lovely - as pretty a Chambolle as one could hope for. There was a beautifully lush nose here, with lots of damp earthy scents of moss and morels along with pure red fruited goodness overlaid on a bed of rocky, stony mineral aromas and a nice floral lift. After such an expressive nose, the palate was still a bit tight. It was nonetheless really nice though, with a stream of pure red fruit on the attack racing through a more serious underlayer of earthy, rocky, almost metally mineral. With time, some flowery notes started floating out alongside a slightly meaty undertone on the midpalate. Finally, the finish stretched away in really impressive fashion, filling the back-palate with morello cherries touched by spice, earth and slightly bittersweet herbs. Really nice. A bit on the light and high-toned side for a 2002, so that most of us guessed it as a 2001 Chambolle, but any lack of heft was more than made up for by an effortless elegance. This will improve with time, but it was really nice even now.

Very nice and fresh red fruit nose from the start, lots of fruit, life and substance just from the nose, which in time it developed into a nose with candied red fruit and slight perfume. Color is light red medium with plummy notes in the palate. Decent aftertaste with decent fruit and acid spine to carry this wine further in the cellar, good wine.

This wine is tasted together with Roumier Chambolle-Musigny 2002. Dom. G Roumier is one of the most reputable producer in Chambolle-Musigny and her wines command a very high price. Even though this bottle is about HK$1200, it is just a village appellation wine. Roumier's wine is usually more robust, less ethereal than many other Chambolles. This Roumier is no exception. It has a relatively thick, forward and sweet flavour with aromas of spices, red fruit and plum. The wine has good structure and aftertaste. At village level, this is a very good wine but unfortunately it is not selling at a village level price. I personally don't think it worths this price.
I like Groffier Chambolle-Musigny Les Hauts-Doix much more than Roumier. Groffier is lighter in body, fresher, more refined and more elegance than Roumier. Her aftertaste is also very long and intense. Very good!
Terrific Burgundy that is drinking well right now. Some nice red fruit, oak and a bit of menthol on the nose. Has a firm acidic backbone and tasty red berry fruit with a medium to long finish. It does open up after some time in the glass. Would recommend decanting for an hour or so. The high level of acidity and strong fruit profile will probably allow this wine to age well for at least another 5 to 10 years. Enjoy!!!

Surprisingly dark, with a nose of cherry with some hints of minerals and flowers. Flavors of flambeed cherries, vanilla, and brandy. It seemed that over the course of a long evening, it lost some of its vibrancy and its smooth tannins melted away to a flat stemminess. At open, however, it had some real pop and filled the room with a sense of Bourgogne.

(94-95) Drank with Ann’s vegan paella at our house with Nira and Phil Berry. Everyone loved it. Definitely in its drinking window. Balanced, complex, good classical burg, drank according to its status.

Terrific expression of Chambolle-Musigny. Looked, smelled and tasted exactly as I think a Côte de Nuits Burgundy should. I haven't had many other 2002's, so I'm not sure if it's the stellar vintage or this wine, but we all certainly enjoyed this!

Drank with rabbit stew, made by Chef A. Newmark - YUM!! Slight cherry nose, round, fruity, delightful now but very promising future. Short finish, very nice on palate.

Outstanding bottle; I've had a lot of bottle variation from this case. Just goes to show, as they say;no great wines, only great bottles.

One of the best burgundies of the past year ...maybe it's because we got it at peak drinking time. Crowd favorite too.
