A little harsh at first, but mellows out after an hour. Good flavor intensity of cut grass, grapefruit and other citrus notes, and just a hint of cat pee (but not in a bad way). Flavors are distinct, complexity is moderate plus, finish is moderate plus. I think I’m just not a big fan of NZ Sauvignon Blanc.

#10 on Wine Spectator's Wine of the Year list. A good thing this came out at the LCBO before the list dropped or it wouldn't have been so cheap.
Lovely aromas of elderflower, honey, butter, hay, & passion fruit. The aromas except for the flowers showed up on the tongue in a subtle yet delicious way along with lemon, & pepper. Great acidity to go with the medium plus finish.
The folks at Greywacke don't miss, their Riesling was fantastic now this. Amazing food & snack wine especially with semi-soft cheese & fig jam.

This is interesting overall, way less ripe than usual Marlborough SB, very pristine and without over the head ammonia. However, this isn’t my favourite expression and to me it seemed a little one-sided to be a great wine.
Very pristine and crystal clear nose. Rhubarb, a lot of gooseberry, and lime. A touch of jalapeño. I do not get a lot of tropical fruits, maybe distant pineapple. Ammonia and a little ozone, river rocks. This isn’t overwhelming but to be honest, it also isn’t incredibly complex. On the palate, it is dry and the high acidity dominates. Jalapeños and grassy quality come to the forefront. Lemon juice and some gooseberry. The finish is defined by the lingering acidity and gooseberry. 8+/18

Begleitet wird das Ganze von einer sehr runden, vollen und gut ausbalancierten Textur und angenehmer Säure. Enjoyable enough SB. Good balance of tropical and stone fruit with medium plus acid. Slight hints of greenness and florality that is varietally correct but not over the top like some SB can be. Medium body and a delineated finish that is both refreshing and also able to lure you back for more. But with a price in the upper $20s, it is not a particularly good QPR since you can get the same quality for a bit less. I probably paid more than the average so if you can get this for around the $20 mark, it's worth it.

Improved from my first day after a vacuum closure in the frig for 24 hrs. Very expressive nose of pineapple, honey and floral notes. Flavors burst forward of pineapple, peaches, quince and wet stone or flint. Great acidity pulls this all together. This wine is not boring, and I'm not sure I love it, but it is over the top in a balanced way. I think it could benefit from a year or two since day two was better than day one.

Screw cap. Elegantly ripe with a medium-high intensity nose offers lovely and complex aromas of passion fruit, lime-lemon citrus, and leesy minerals with touches of grapefruit, guava, spice, kiwi, and melon adding nuance. It has a lovely, structured and textured mouthfeel, with equally impressive weight on the medium+ to medium-full bodied palate. It's dry with lovely ripe lime-lemon citrus, passion fruit, guava, and leesy mineral flavours. It's juicy and succulent with fresh, balanced, and saliva-inducing acidity. A touch spicy, plus intriguing notes of mango and melon add further complexity on the mid-palate, while leesy mineral notes linger on the long, juicy finish.
A clean, restrained, tropical style. Indistinct grapefruit and lemon, light tropical fruits, bit of citrus pith and herbs, hint of slate. Well balanced, bracing acidity. Medium long finish of the same.

The nose starts out quite herbaceous when first poured but it quickly reveals its true self after a few swirls in the glass. The palate is pure, fruity and refreshing with just the slightest touch of sweetness on the finish that beautifully rounds out the vibrant acidity. Focused, fresh and well-balanced, I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again and again. (And for the record, on a comparative level and in my humble opinion, this far surpasses the 2022 Cloudy Bay sauvignon blanc; they must be a bit lost without Kevin Judd).

Gooseberry, red grapefruit with zest and pith, driftwood, wool, pear, a little peach, green papaya, faint herbaceousness, tarragon. Wonderful phenolic texture on the finish. It's not a tropical-fruit-and-mowed-grass wine. High acid is humming with electricity, but not abrasive. M+ intensity. M+/Long finish. Delicious.

This is a bright, light yellow wine by appearance. The acidity is lively and very typical of NZ Sav Blancs. The body is medium with a mellow consistency and a crisp finish. The primary flavor is grapefruit with a finish that reminds me of asparagus. I've drunk a lot of Kim Crawford Sav Blanc, and I give this wine a point higher than the Crawford.

Light, pale straw in color. Full, fragrant & aromatic nose of ripe citrus notes of lemons/limes, gooseberries & apples with overtones of floral notes of honeysuckle, gravel & minerals & a hint of lemongrass. Light bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, crisp, ripe citrus fruit flavors of tart grapefruit, lemons & limes & green apples with honey & minerals. Lingering crisp finish. Drinks quite well at present & has some limited potential for further development with an additional year or two.

Damn just as good as I remembered. Super boisterous tropical fruit, like a dole fruit cup, with orchard fruit and a nice citrusy part too. Also a clear green note of SB, but in a ripe kind of way rather than sharp. Palate is somewhat richer than a lot of SB, but clean acidity and nothing to complain about.

Light in the glass, grassy but not fresh cut grass nose with some tropical notes I can't identify. Medium body, sweeter than the nose let's on. Mild acidity and slightly dry. It's OK, the more I drank it the less I enjoyed it. Too much residual sugar for my liking.

My reference to “Wild” refers to the fact that a few months ago I reviewed this winery’s “Wild Sauvignon.” Since then, their Sauvignon Blanc racked in a couple of whopping 95 Point reviews. How could I not seek out a wine of that caliber, especially since the “Wild” one was so good, and I love Sauvignon Blanc? The wine:
Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2022
Interestingly, though the “Wild” Sauvignon sees more new oak in its process (something I do like), this features much less. Only a portion of the juice was fermented in old oak barrels. Yet, in the end, this wine surpassed the “Wild.”
Lush tropical fruit with a bracing lemon twist yet having a subtler (creamy) side to it. Refreshing on a medium to long finish. While my descriptors are short and to the point, make no mistake that this is a wine unlike most Sauvignon Blancs I have tasted of late. There was a taste and texture to the wine that made it irresistible.
The good news is that they imported a hefty supply to the U.S., but with the ratings, they may still not last long. Sauvignon Blanc drinkers should search out, and buy, while they can.
Cheers
P.S. - Tomorrow I will be posting about my first use of Artificial Intelligence (A.I.), which just so happens to include today’s wine and the results that I had. I found it both amazing and somewhat frightening!

On the nose- Big tropical fruits, fresh grass, fresh lemon zest, fresh grapefruit, gooseberry, fresh pineapple, salinity, wet rocks, white flowers
On the palate- Big tropical fruits and fresh grass, fresh lemon zest and fresh grapefruit, gooseberry and fresh pineapple, salinity and wet rocks with killer acidity. This is drinking KILLER now but will age another 3-5 years if not longer with no problem at all.

Pale lemon. Nose of citrus and tropical fruit; lemon, lime, peach, passion fruit, pineapple. On the palate, it is also fruity and fresh with quite some minerality. High crisp acidity with medium+ body and a slight creamy texture which I suspect from lees aging (this was a bit disturbing at first, but it tastes better after a day). Overall, quite refreshing, also with some minerality and complexity which makes the wine more interesting.

Light gold color. Evocative nose of grapefruit and melon. I liked the aroma but was worried that this would be the stereotypical over the top grapefruit NZ Sauv Blanc. I needn't have worried. The fruit is soft and generous, some grapefruit but subtle, pear and lemon. Subtle acidity, great balance. Well-rounded across the palate. Finishes long and clean with melons and lemons. Beautiful and refreshing.

Intense notes of grapefruit and acidity dominate this excellent Sauvignon Blanc. Great secondary flavors of peach, pear and passion fruit…this is a world class New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.

This One May Not Be "Wild," But It Sure Is Good
My reference to “Wild” refers to the fact that a few months ago I reviewed this winery’s “Wild Sauvignon.” Since then, their Sauvignon Blanc racked in a couple of whopping 95 Point reviews.

This is excellent as usual. A bit more juicy tropical fruits this year, pineapple and mangoes, but it’s still got some crisp acids.

Nose is a little funky, although I would say in line with NZ SB...
Palate is beautifully balanced with some richness and lushness offsetting the acidity of the grape variety.

There's a funny earthy, herbal, pithy note that is interesting but not exactly tasty. Also has the more typical grass and grapefruit. Balanced and very drinkable.

Gooseberries and limes, but I can sense the pineapple that others have mentioned, especially if you think of the pith of that fruit. Leesy character. Paired wonderfully (as always) with raw oysters from Metropolitan Seafood, Lebanon, as well as asparagus& prosciutto, etc

Agree with recent notes. A triumph really. Lovely floral and tropical NZ sauvignon nose, but In the mouth more loire like but unrestrained and glorious. We have a Menetou-Salon we regularly buy which is similarly delicious. It's what you need, and an excellent QPR.

Really good stuff here. All the classic notes in a NZ SB. Tropical fruits, grass, lemon, and slight minerality. The finish on this is really good and while the acidity is high it’s not overwhelming. Another great vintage. Stock up!

Not for the timid. One of my favorite NZ SB's. Grapefruit, gooseberry, lemon, lime aromas. Lots of flavor with grapefruit, gooseberry, lemon and lime. A long finish. Bracing acidity, which I like, but others may not. A great seafood wine.
