  • Par souci éthique, je baisse un peu sa note car même s'il est grandiose, j'ai trouvé (à mon humble avis) certains vins meilleurs, comme Tertre Rôtebeouf par exemple

  • Crazy Price +55% ?????????????????????????????

So I bought a few bottles of the fabulous 2016 and 2020 which I find even better and much, much, much cheaper.

  • Bordeaux 2022 en Primeur and some recent vintages: Much more my style than the 2018. As always, lighter than its neighbors due to the grape variety blend. Precise palate, good tannic structure but it will need time. Still closed in terms of aromas but you never have to worry about that with Figeac. Once mature, it is always has among the most complex bouquet. 96-97

  • Bordeaux 2022 barrel tasting event (Papiersaal Sihlcity, Zürich): Main takeaways: 1/ Despite a considerable amount of hype, this came across as bi-polar vintage with for every insanely good wine at least one dead-on-arrival counterpart. 2/ High alcohol levels, over-extraction and cooked fruit appear to be common pitfalls. 3/ Top wines were 1. Figeac (98), 2. Brane Cantenac (97), 3. Les Carmes Haut Brion (96). Full list of 20 wines and scores in included in the tasting story.

    Tasting note:
A multi-facetted, detailed and elegant wine already prior to bottling boasting plenty of herbal notes such as dried herbal seasoning and black tea, red and dark cherry fruit, leather and mineral notes of pencil shavings. The palate is juicy, fruit-forward, wholesome already now with great structure and precision, consistent presence and a long and tapered finish. A candidate for a perfect score.

  • It takes nothing to sense all the intensity, freshness, and depth here. But, more importantly, it is the character. The wine is sensuous, sultry, and lively. The fruits are drenched in cashmere, and velvet that caresses your palate. The levels of depth, richness, opulence, and vibrancy must be felt to be believed. The finish, with its seemingly endless waves of black, blue, and red fruits, with their natural spiciness and purity is off the hook. The seamless finish looks at the 60 second mark, and keeps on going! This is the first vintage for Chateau Figeac as Premier Cru Classe A. With this wine, it is clear they deserve it. The wine blends 35% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Franc, and 31% Cabernet Sauvignon. 8% Press wine. 14% ABV, 3.7 pH. Picking took place September 1 - September 26. This is the earliest harvest in the history of Figeac. Yields were 34 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2027-2065. 98-100 Pts.

The vintage of the century!!!! Yes I know we have already told you this several times but this time it is the real truthful truth! Who are we kidding again? It was very hot but it was very cold, it was very dry but it rained a lot, the grapes are very ripe but with acidity...
And Darwin said that man and mammoth sperm were adapting to climate change, why not grapes? Primeur wines are all more beautiful than each other, it's true! But that is not enough to make an exceptional vintage. One dimension is missing, the lifespan of the wine. And frankly, let's be honest, who can foresee today, that such a climatically contrasting vintage will not be syrup or vinegar in 20 or 30 years when the 2016, 2018,19,20 will begin their peak?

  • One of the top wines of the vintage And the best Figeac to date. Incredible wine through and through - was hoping they would have decided to slowly raise the price vs the dramatic increase they went to market with. Unfortunate strategy considering the alternate options like VCC. Shame as it’s a stellar wine.

  • En Primeur campaign for the 2022 vintage Day Five (Bordeaux): Blue and blackberry, plums, a little blackcurrant, Cassis, slightly dusty sweet spice. Medium plus intensity acidity, fresh, crunchy black fruits with a touch of red berry as well, a little sweet spice, drying and woody tannins show the oak, a touch of non-intrusive alcohol warmth. Lovely.
