Gobs of black and blue berries with liqueur and meaty hints, slightly sweet spice in support. Lots here, well balanced and harmonious. Last tasted in 2018, this has come together really nicely as I expected back then. Good through at least 2032.

Took to an Italian Restaurant which had terrible stems. Food was great and so was the wine. Wine was very restrained, ripe, rich, balanced. Improved over the meal and with rich pasta entree.

Wonderful wine. Been sitting on this for a while. Bought this at a tasting and have bought a few other vintages since. Really singing right now. Beautiful dark fruits in the nose, velvety in the mouth and just enough of a finish to leave you wanting more. 👌

in color. 14.7% ABV. Breathtaking nose of red and blue fruits, smoke and violets. Medium to full bodied with mouth watering acidity. Exceptionally lush and rich. Black cherry, cassis liqueur, olives and barbecued meats on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. Last bottle of a three pack and this wine has never disappointed. Stunning right now and I'm certain this will drink well for another 2-3 years.

Purple in color. 14.7% ABV. Stunning nose of dark fruits, bacon fat, olive brine and coffee. Medium body with perfect acidity. Savory and concentrated. Dark and brooding. Well balanced. Blackberry, blueberry liqueur, blood and charred meats on the palate. Tremendous length on the finish. The tannins are subtle and silky. Superb Syrah. This will continue to well but is really shining now. Best over the next 2-3 years.

Great nose with dark berries and ripe cherries. On the palate fine licorice notes, blackberries and dark ripe cherries. Beautiful silky tannins, complex structure and a medium intense body. 14.7% alcohol - but it’s not hot in any way - it rather feels like an elegant cold climate Syrah. All in all a Syrah with an amazing balance. Very nice and a complete surprise for me. I’m thankful for the CT notes here - I wanted to open the first bottle earlier but it seems like it was the best decision to wait a little longer.

Opaque purple in color. 14.7% ABV. Dark, brooding nose of black fruits, barbecued meats, flowers and olive brine. Big and full bodied with perfect acidity. Exceptional concentration with a luscious core of sweet fruits. Blueberries, blackberry liqueur, espresso and charred meat on the palate. The finish is glorious with silky tannins. Amazing Syrah. Every bit as good as the monumental '09 and '10. About as good as it gets from California. Drink over the next 4-6 years.

I wrote the following review 3 years ago on this wine.
"This wine is loaded with potential... still early and yet delivering good fruit, spices, vibrant acidity, good tannic structure and complexity. This Syrah also has good texture and mouth feel. The Lillian Syrah uses grapes from Sine Qua Non vineyards, however it's less over the top and showing more finesse.
Cellar this wine for a couple more years and it will be a lights out Syrah, competing extremely well with Syrahs coming out of the Northern Rhone area."
Last night I opened a new bottle and was pleasantly rewarded with how time and messaged out the rough edges and brought this wine to light.
However, instead of the wine reminding me of a Northern Rhone Syrah, I kept thinking I was drinking a lighter version of a Jumilla Bodegas El Nido "Clio". This is a powerful wine with beautiful black fruit, red raspberry intoxicating spices, white flowers and a very nice finish. It still has a well balanced structure and holds up to a good steak.
This is a wonderful wine that I highly recommend.

We waited to drink this until 2019. We opened it and let it breath for awhile. This wine blew me away. Soft and velvety but full of flavor with boysenberries and blackberries. I’m sorry we didn’t buy more. Her wines always amaze me.
Aromatic nose, warm blackberry, boysenberry, grilled meats and a little mustard seed. Jasmine or violet is the lingering taste. First night it was feeling a little tight, so we vacuum sealed it and put it in the wine fridge overnight at about 55 degrees. Next day it was SINGING (tasting notes based off day 2). Usually I don’t like a decant but I imagine that would have done the trick day 1.

I didn't enjoy this as much as the 2010 vintage I had in July of 2017, but it's still enjoyable. I agree with previous comments that there is still some heat on the finish and needs some time to fully integrate. Needs another couple years.

This was good but I was expecting more from this producer. Big fruits. A decent amount of heat. Disjointed finish. The good news is that it still seems too young. Drink 2020-2030

Willamette Valley Weekend Visit; 5/26/2018-5/27/2018: Tasting at the winery. Boysenberry and blackberry jam with sweet spice and liqueur and lots of tannins, albeit in the elegant side. Needs time. Upside as the sweetness lessens.

One hour decant directly from 58F cellar, so this was a touch cool to start. Deep purplish maroon color. Pomegranate, cranberry, smoked ham and charred marshmallow on the brooding nose. Some barbecue brisket showed up during an hour of drinking. Smooth, rich, meaty palate. Full, round tannins on the long finish. Absolutely wonderful Syrah produced with fruit from the Stolpman Vineyard in CA.

From restaurant. Dark, opaque. Moderately expressive rich dark fruit and some oak. Med acidity, med+ weight, open pure dark syrah fruit without any meaningful old world savory elements, obvious but not obnoxious oak and med tannins. Overall a bit more elegant than some prior vintages and probably in its peak drinking window now. Nice.

I thought this was in a great place. Smoother and more integrated than 2yrs ago. Great aromatics of cracked pepper with floral fruit notes. Powerful and elegant fruit on the palate that Maggie does so well. This is still a big wine, but with poise and freshness.

The hit of the night in some great company: '13 Alban Grenache (96), '14 Booker My Favorite Neighbor (94), '13 Carter Three Kings Cab (96). What a treat! Smooth as silk, full of flavor, just slides down. I never thought a Syrah could eclipse a top notch Cab but it did in spades. A real pleasure to drink!

Starting to come together but I think more time in the cellar will be worth the wait. Perfumed nose of black fruits. On the palate there was boysenberry , blackberry, hints of vanilla. There was some violet and spice on the finish. More restrained then many new world syrahs I have had.

Needed some decant time to display more than a flat grape juice like profile. I tasted sweet blackberry with a bit of coffee on the medium finish. A very good Syrah but there is nothing very memorable about it. I think it has the stuffing to develop into something more complex over the next several years.

Expressive dark fruited wine, medium full bodied, creamy texture, balanced, with litttle tannins, semi long toffee caramel finish with a bit of vanilla notes. Youthful, semi voluptous and well crafted but i am not sure how this will evolve or if this will get better with time. To me it lacked a bit of acidity and the typical pepper notes of syrah! But enjoyable, my wife loved it.

Typical of the producer, and if you're a fan you'll love it. Spiced meat and pepper on the nose. Palate has some oak notes that stand out but still plenty of fruit. Moderate coffee and pepper finish. Very good in the style but could a year or 3 to integrate further.

Massive fruit, expressive oak and rather vivid tannins. The 2012 Lillian certainly needs its beauty sleep to show its best. Still, if wines are preferred young, give this a good 4-5 hour decant and enjoy it today too... The nose offers distinct fruit like raspberry, blueberry and orange zest adjoined by white pepper, Asian spice, a slight whiff of seaweed smoke and minerals. This nose will be amazing in the future and perhaps it is tonight too? The palate is balanced but lacks integration tonight. The oak is pretty forward, but I know from experience it will integrate given some time. A solid texture and almost brutal structure makes this wine a 10-15 year project in the cellar. Lovely effort from star producer Maggie Harrison.

No big surprise here, delicious Lillian wine as usual. Flavors of black cherry, hint of spice and pepper, and a bit of smokiness. Medium to long finish. These wines never disappoint.

This wine is loaded with potential... still early and yet delivering good fruit, spices, vibrant acidity, good tannic structure and complexity. This Syrah also has good texture and mouth feel. The Lillian Syrah uses grapes from Sine Qua Non vineyards, however it's less over the top and showing more finesse.
Cellar this wine for a couple more years and it will be a lights out Syrah, competing extremely well with Syrahs coming out of the Northern Rhone area.

Tight the first day, second day it was smooth, good fruit and lots of cooking spices and cinnamon. Give it a few years min.
