Lovely, well integrated, medium fruit, cedar, complex. Decanted for about 45 minutes but it didn't need much air to be delicious. One more bottle of this vintage.

Dark red, opened 45 min before dinner, dense ripe cherry and dark berry fruit, super smooth, tannins integrated, long smooth finish. Not a Chaleur Estate but still a decent wine if you like fruit packed wines. Matched with grilled prime NY strip steaks.

Decadent. A round mouthful of deep juicy blackberry fruit. Well balance Bordeaux grapes, but lacking transition to take it to the next level. A great Tuesday night or Covid any-day bottle, but not worth the 11 years of cellar

Best D2 I’ve had in a while, and my last 07. Definitely deeper and more complex than the 08s I’ve been drinking lately. Slight bricking. Fruit has mostly retreated to the background, but is integrated nicely with mellow tannins and light-touch oak. Drink now, in a fine place and won’t get better.

Sometimes you just need a fruit bomb of a wine. The one word I would use is Big. Big ripe fruit, big abv of 15% 100% new oak There's nothing delicate or nuanced about this wine. It's a go big or go home wine. It does it well.

Great finish. Very good full body with some hints of cherry glad I have 5 more in my cellar The wine looks crimson colored. The legs are medium. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It tastes like cherry. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has low acidity.

A little dissapointed in this wine because the 06 was so great. First taste and mid pallete was very good, a little blackkberry, little oak, creamy and then comes the finish and I thought the finish is just a little too acidic, a little too harsh. Had it decanted for over an hour.

This is an amazing WA wine. Very refined and integrated with dark fruit, currents, and mocha. Give this a half hour decant and enjoy. Everything with this wine is integrated from the lush fruit, firm acids, and caressing tannins. Top notch!

Pop and pour at Mother's Day BBQ ... Very, very smooth. Not at all hot. Big fruit, but not over the top. Restrained oak. Very nice and the most popular wine of the evening, though not an ideal QPR at $40+/bottle.

Officially one of my FAVORITE wines from California. In the true Bordeaux style this wine was dark purple in color, rich full body, strong legs. While high in ABV it's feel on the palate, structure and balance did not allow the alcohol to dominate. Dark fruit, mocha and chocolate with cream, cassis, leather and tobacco. Beautiful mouth feel with well integrated tannins and enough acidity to work with the duck. Sorry I don't have more but his is from memory. We were at dinner with friends and this complimented the duck confit magnificently.
Very smooth wine at this point. Decanted for about an hour and it opened up nicely. A little heat at the beginning but after that the fruit really came through. This is just starting to get good but could still sit for a couple of years.

High expectations, nice bottle and label. After initial tasting I was blown away by the upfront ripe dark fruit only to be disappointed by the heavy oak. Think great tune blown by too much cowbell. Don't get me wrong but I expect more when the fruit is soooo good. Call it winemaker insecurity. $90 bucks at Redbar Southampton. Paired with Filet and Organic Strip Steak.

(Fulfilling a prediction from a recent tasting note) I have to pretty much completely agree with Parker on this one. Opened at 5:30 pm - with tasting note at 9:30pm. On opening, big fruity nose. By the time of tasting note, a very pleasant wine experience. Great silky mouthfeel with a couple dimensions. Sticky blackberry fruit, white spices and a floral element. The oak is there , but not harsh - comes through as a sort of white chocolate. With air, no tanin beast. Good long finish. Guilty as charged.

US Boutique Wine Festival - Sponsered by Altruistic Wines (Marriott Hotel Hong Kong): P&P. Purpley lookin'. Creamy brown sugar butter vanilla thing. Dark red fruit. Pretty nice in the mouth, light feel, some definite major vanilla play, weird I have never had this so pronounced. Tannins are there, not too bad. Nice smooth red fruit through the palates, nothing distinct here. Good lingering finish, touch of oak. OK. This plays a little too much to the oak, vanilla, treatment for me, would prefer to see the WA fruits come out more, let the juice do it's things. Less winemaking and more nature. Maybe this plays out with some air.
Few hours later the tannins became finer, the vanilla monster faded, the wine became more refined and rich, the acid supported food and the enfolding fruit. A nice effort and this will evolve over time, but drinking fine with a solid decant.

In my opinion this is going to be a beautiful tasting wine in a few years. It needs a little cellar time to integrate it's fruits, particularly the Cab Franc that is in this blend. I found the finish to be somewhat bitter. I would think the optimum drinking window is a couple years off.

My impressions of this wine seem to be slightly more positive than the average in this forum. This is a big and heavy wine that coats the mouth. Dark chocolate and blackberry flavors dominate, and the aftertaste is long & lingering. I agree with other reviewers that the wine will improve with time, and that there is a touch of heat, but I think that even now the wine is a very positive example of Washington state Bordeaux blends.

Tasted January 30, 2010 at a retail tasting. Purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout the glass. Nose of rose petals, smoke, black berries and a bit of currants. Double decanted and allowed to set about an hour in the decanter before drinking and even then it took another hour in the glass to open up fully. Very dark in the glass. The nose is nice with some decent dark fruit elements, tobacco, leather maybe, seem to be getting a little licorice as well. Nice complexity there. Starts out dark and really "heavy" on the front with a very decent transition to a long smooth finish with some very good tannins on the back. This one is still young and and there are some definite areas that will see improvement with some age but I'm very glad to have stuck with this wine after the initial flawed bottle experience. Would buy again.

This is a great house/party wine, as a table of wine novices was blown away by it. They really were impressed. My take: there's decent fruit and reasonable balance, but unfortunately a touch of heat and herbaciousness too. For the price, though, a good one to keep around the house, or order at a restaurant without breaking the bank.

i must admit that as a gross generality, i don't ride first class on the washington cab train. they seem to lack lush, expressive fruit in their youth, and don't develop nuances as they age. i've had this wine probably more than any other, and i have a guarded respect for it, i.e. i still wish i liked it more. this example is far from lush, but has a nice countenance, probably from the blended grapes. worth cellaring a couple of years.

Nose has this slightly off scent that I can't ID, almost a burnt rubber scent. Not pleasant and not what I would expect in a D2. The pallet was extremely disappointing. The burnt rubber flavor predominates with almost no finish. I can't ID the fault, but I returned this to the winery and they agreed it was faulty and replaced it immediately. Very gracious people there. They opened a bottle on site for me to taste a "good" bottle. Much better...

Started off with the oak dominating and then picked up some licorice and cherry. It is definitely full bodied and the tannins are dominating but with time this should really improve. Looking forward to popping another in about six months or so.

taste: full bodied with big tannins that show off its youth with rich tones of anise, oak, dark tones of spices, and dark red cherries. The tannins are very gripping right now, so its hard to get a full read on it
overall: extremely young. Good richness and full body with real nice balance to boot. The tannins are fairly bracing right now, so this definitely needs time to come together fully, but what is lying underneath is excellent and should certainly improve

Big Red! (Sportsman's): Dark purple color. Blueberry nose. Tastes of blackberry, charred oak and violets. Rich and full bodied. Extracted and overdone.

i must admit that as a gross generality, i don't ride first class on the washington cab train. they seem to lack lush, expressive fruit in their youth, and don't develop nuances as they age. i've had this wine probably more than any other, and i have a guarded respect for it, i.e. i still wish i liked it more. this example is far from lush, but has a nice countenance, probably from the blended grapes. worth cellaring a couple of years.

Washington Wine Commision tasting (Rooftop Terrace, Millenium Park, Chicago IL): nose: a touch of oak starts off this excellent and dark nose of spice tones, black fruits, and a good amount of dark red cherries. Good depth that is filling on the nose
taste: full bodied with big tannins that show off its youth with rich tones of anise, oak, dark tones of spices, and dark red cherries. The tannins are very gripping right now, so its hard to get a full read on it
overall: extremely young. Good richness and full body with real nice balance to boot. The tannins are fairly bracing right now, so this definitely needs time to come together fully, but what is lying underneath is excellent and should certainly improve
