Consumed over Rack of lamb dinner while skiing. Over 1 week ago, divided 5 ways so limited report.
Not decanted, but opened and sat, and aerated during pour.
Certainly still full of fruit - not an old wine yet, at 17+ years old. Note my bottle reside in a real, Northeast, cellar. Not temperature controlled, but mostly subterranean.
Fairly typical CDP, both red and dark fruit, very subtle tannin, minimal sediment, good though not strong acidity (remaining).
Sorry for abbreviated notes.

Lyon Holiday Open House (Where Else?): Denise's WOTN, it's in a great spot! It has a garnet rim and an open nose that is very savory (like the CSJ it was paired with). A bit of a rustic texture, there's black cherry, garrigue, iodine, and a little "sangre de toro"! Tannins are still holding, now-2027.

Yes, the fruit and acidity were fading, but the balance was still there and the palate was full of lovely CdP notes.
The importer label indicated "12-14%" ABV, which must be a joke. I could believe it was 14%, but not less. The alcohol was there, but it wasn't unpleasant or hot.
The nose is licorice, cranberry, earth, and just slightly sweet. The taste matched, adding herbal notes and perhaps eucalyptus. The fruit was on the drier side, definitely taking a step back with the age.
Overall, this was a pleasing CdP showing good typicity and proper aging.
Sadly, didn't survive the 2 weeks after the initial coravin - too much air :(

60% Grenache. From the north part of the region. - Clear, medium ruby, significant fading at rim - Very subtle. Austere. Worn leather, dusty floors and subtle cinnamon heart. - Quite hot and tannins are chewy and chalky. Nice acidity but overpowered by the alcohol. - Flavours of cherry cough syrup, coffee and alcohol. - Maybe better in time but rough and out of balance now.

Surprisingly good for its age. Ruby/brick color, herbs/tar/mint and white pepper and alcohol on the nose, darker fruits and herbs on the palate w secondary characteristics. Short/medium finish. Won’t get better though I’d say so drink now/soon.

Disappointing. A one note, fruit heavy wine. Comparing it to the Grand Veneur and La Ferme Du Mont (all 2007s), was like comparing a clog dancer to Fred Astaire. The Milliere was clunky. I enjoyed my previous bottle (almost 6 years ago), so I wonder if it over the hill now, or I got a bad bottle. I have a few more bottles left, so I'll get a chance to find out.

I liked younger versions of this wine. The fruit has faded but the secondary characteristics are not that compelling. It is medium bodied with mostly red fruit. 12-14% abv

The secondary are coming to the fore on this tasting. Smooth and developing woody. cedar-like notes, but with a lightness of touch. I wish I had been patient as I have only 3 left....decanted and drank from two different glasses. I liked the riedel pinot glass and my visitor preferred the Bordeaux. The lightness and yet depth in the middle palate suited the pinot glass to me.

This has progressed since my last tastings approx. 5 yrs. ago. Fruits are integrated, some woodsiness and spice. This probably needed those extra couple of years. A nice medium finish. Went well with a beef bourguignon.

-yes there's some detectable alcohol but not in an uncharacteristic way for CdP -nose is fairly shy, almost disappointingly so. PnP in my case -no real apparent indications of "age" on my bottle. Not much bricking, very little sediment (some on the last pour), some oxidation of the fruit, but not very much oxidation and definitely no off-putting pruny/figgy dried/cooked fruit apparent in many older warm vintages
verdict=drinks like what a younger high-alcohol/high-fruit CdP wine SHOULD. fun

Opened and decanted an hour before our hot day bbq. This was a pleasant surprise as the ‘heat’ evident a couple of years ago has smoothed into a deep broad glass of cndp. On this evidence it will cellar for a while yet and I look forward to the next one

2007 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Tasting at Winetasters of Toronto Club (North York Memorial Hall): 2007 Domaine La Millière Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes was clear and medium ruby in colour with a thin amber rim. The Rhone blend displayed aromas of sour cherries, herbs and toffee. The mouthfeel was medium-full bodied accompanied with some bitter austere tannin and medium-high acidity. The medium finish was quite simple. The personal rank was the sixth out of eight wines, and the table rank was the fifth. The blend composed of 60% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre, 10% Cinsault and 10% Counoise, with an annual production of 500 cases.

One of the many 2007 cdp i bought before I knew I actually didn't like the vintage. This one wasn't bad though. Definitely big and on the hot side at 15%, but not obscenely so. Plum, provencal herbs, floral. Thick and dense. Lots of dark sweet fruit. Old vines maybe didn't get as roasted in 2007.
Color: dark red Nose: Medium intensity; complex dried fruits; some minerality; touch of alcohol Body/flavor: medium-full; complex; dried berries and fruits; well-balanced with acid; tannins not noticable. Aftertaste: medium finish. Served with lamb stew -- terrific pairing

Seems at a good time to pop. Took about 30 minutes to open up, and went great with an elk based sauce over pasta. Smooth rich ripe black plum that finished with black cherry and final notes of tart strawberry.

Better than my last 2 bottles. Still med-light weight, yet the fruit is a bit richer & more present this time vs. too mature. Seems more in line with the 2020 drink window, though I suggest you don't wait to drink this wine.

What a pleasant surprise. Medium ruby with a pleasant complex nose. Compared to Beaucastel, this is a lighter style CdP that one might mistake for an Italian Barolo or even a Pinot Noir (those were two blind guesses from well-educated aficionados). Less extracted and more spicy smoky red fruit as opposed to dark fruit. The tannins are subdued at this stage with fine tannins and excellent minerality. Drinking great now and at its peak until say 2020, this is what a well aged (and properly stored) CdP is all about. Great value if you are not dismissive of that style of CdP.

PnP at a restaurant with no decanting needed and no sediment. This is towards the end of its optimum window, as the fruit is more reserved, but still hides its 15% alc well as I did not get any booziness or flabbiness, so still has good structure. More of a modern style without much earth, garrigue, or pepper often found with more traditional producers.

The wine took 5th in 2007 CnP Tasting. the La Milliere had the expected fruit profile for CnP, but it had an unexpected earthiness and leather flavor more typical of Piedmont or Tuscany than of Rhone wines. They must have found some big, old barriques to make this wine. Some in the crowd loved this and others were less impressed, I think because the lower acid levels of Rhones are a little less able to carry the weight of the earthy leather tones. Nonetheless, a big and uniquely flavored CnP.

Wine was a little tight for a CnP. Good fruit, but not as expressive as one would typically expect. A little more acid at the front than usual, too. Not overbearing, but there was a constant reminder of the oak and the barrel even after the wine had a long (1 hour) airing. Still it was overall an enjoyable and pleasurable bottle with good company and a magnificent foie gras ravioli.

This bottle was by far the best of this Rhône I've had to date. It finally lived up to its stellar ratings from experts and my expectations for this vintner. Enjoyed with Kate and Jan at the BoJos, over dinner and lively after-repast conversations. The longer after it was opened, the deeper it became, more fragrant, more luscious, and an extended finish. Kate described it as "luxe ... with lots of chocolate." I agree completely.

This CdP has been sleeping in my wine cellar for 6 years. The debut has been wonderful. Color a bit surprising with earth tones revealed in garnet. Medium body and decent legs. Marvelous nose filled with florals and harvests. The palate immediately jumps to life driven by dark berries tinged with a touch of sweetness on the end. Tannins well integrated and notes of leather and graphite on the finish. Ready to go. Wait no more. Enjoy the rest at your leisure.

Pop and pour, no sediment. Clear, medium garnet. Clean, medium intensity, developing nose of ripe raspberries, licorice, cardamom, roasted nuts (walnut), and decaying leaves. The earthiness was more pronounced on the palate/finish. Medium body and acid, medium+ alcohol, tannin (quite grippy), and finish (sweet black licorice and earth really linger!). A nice complex wine though would have liked more richness of fruit. Drinking great now -- not sure more time would be of much benefit.

This had a spiciness to it. Tannins still evident and, in my mind, not fully integrated. Nor is it overly complex. Will consume other bottles over next couple of years and see if this progresses, or is stuck where it is.

Delayed tasting note - I remember a rather rustic, hard-edged wine, yet with good fruit lurking beneath the tough exterior. Raspberry, licorice notes emerge from the glass on the nose complicated by a scent of minerality (i.e., iron). I'd hold another year or two if you have them... 89+

Pretty nice overall. Fruit has faded and it has a fairly neutral canvas, just needs some more acidity for the dinner table. Think I preferred this a couple years back, it's a bit one note now for me. But surely, a solid wine, nothing exciting.

Cellared since release. Labeled at 15% ABV. Pop and pour. Perfect cork and fill. Dark red core, minimal lightening at rim. Candied/maraschino cherries, vanilla-y oak, hints of garrigue on the nose with a trace of alcoholic heat. Medium bodied, sweet ripe fruit and oak on the palate follow the nose, a bit flabby/low acid, the alcohol doesn't really stick out until just a hint of heat at the end of a medium finish. Pretty good as a generic cocktail wine but no real complexity or typicity - this would be hard to place if tasted blind. Reminds me of Oz Grenache. A second pour an hour later is more sweet, alcoholic and woody. Doesn't promote the desire to pour another.
Does it have any chance to turn into real CduP over time? It wouldn't seem so but I've seen stranger things happen. One bottle left which I'll cellar for a few more years just to see what happens.
Day 2 a bit less sweet and hot, but still fairly candied and low acid.

Drank as part II of a La Millière "vertical." Bluish at the rim. Smell: black cherry, roses. Taste: big and quite fruit forward-- all about the blackcurrant jam and blueberry jam. Whiff of tobacco. Quite soft and ripe-- not as much tannic grip as expected.
Noticeable style change since the charismatic '03. Less fruit complexity, fewer vegetal flavors typical of a CDP, more generic new-world style. Still enjoyable and good value, but I'm worried the direction this producer seems to be pointing, as La Millière has always been a favorite.

Aromas of red and black plums, blackberry sauce, mixed in with roasted red pepper and notes of charred earth. After an hour, I started picking up more fig paste and bay leaf. Full-bodied, the tannins aren’t fierce, but they provide decent structure. Medium acid makes this much more balanced than some other 2007s (by the way, the alcohol content is listed as 12-14%). Blackberry and raspberry flavors mix with dark chocolate shavings, toasted chestnut, earth and roasted meat. With time, flavors of fig paste and smoke came out. Comes across smooth on the finish. Bold, but for a 2007, this is showing some restraint. I like the toast and earth notes on the finish. A very fine CdP that I’d like to taste again in two years.

Much better than last note 1.5 years ago. Still youthful, but better integrated and more nuanced. Deep ruby/purple color. Medium body. Cherries, kirsch, provencal herbs and fantastic minerality with good acidic balance and a long, nouthwatering finish. An excellent CDP at a great price. It took 5 years, but this is now open for business and likely will remain that way for a long time.

My previous tasting notes still apply. This is a great bottle of wine for the price. I just keep coming back and drinking these bottles and it continues to amaze me that it is a 25 dollar bottle.
Quite nice. Subdued on the nose. A nice and mild fresh fig lead, with cherry and some spicecake. It's a little more comfortingly warm than I would like. Finish is slightly drying, it needs some food, but shows nice mild earth tone and overall a nice texture for the dinner table. A bit simple but smooth and satisfying.

My tasting note from 2/6/12 still applies. This is one of the best qualities for price that I have had in a while. I can't say enough about this wine and the quality that is in this bottle. This will continue to get better over the next 2-3 years but I am not sure I will be able to wait that long.

Opened this bottle with Wino121 and let it sit in the bottle and glass for about 35 -45 minutes. There was a very expressive nose of dark cherries with some nice subtle spice. This wine was more than you could ask for given the price point and full of dark fruit on the palate with a wonderful finish that left you wanting that next drink. This was opened along side a 2008 Shafer Relentless Syrah that was the better wine but it was surprising how close it was. For the price of this bottle the value vs. quality of wine is excellent. Start drinking them now and keep drinking them over the next 2 plus years.

Dark amethyst-ruby brilliance in the glass. Nearly opaque. Legs on the side of the glass. Aromatic with a suggestion of both black and red fruits and some garrigue. Fruit prominent on the approach but drying tannins announce their presence on the far end. I know it is young but it can be drinkable now. I would rate it in the low 90's. I had it with broiled lamb chop and buttered parsley new potatoes with garlic salt and paprika added. I have two more bottles to space out over several years. 90 or 91 points

A little pulled back as 2007 goes, but still an opulent wine. After decanting it gives of black berries and just a touch of barn on the nose. Corduroy smooth on the palate with a relatively long finish. Good with dinner and after.

Very pleasant *and* did not have obnoxious qualities. Raspberries and mild spices. Well balanced acidity with a lean mouth-feel. I am hopeful that the wine will improve with time. Food friendly but drinkable on its own.
Day 2: The balance has changed to show less acidic bite. Flavors are more rounded, less bright, but still good. After 24 hours on the counter top with the cork pushed back in, the wine tasted somewhat more like a CdP and less like a Beaujolais. Maybe there is a perfect breathing time that would keep the fascinating brightness of day 1 but also allow the CdP core to present itself.

This really needs time I think. glaze3 struck gold with the word 'restrained'. I can't think of a better way to express this wine than with that word. It comes across as a very fine premier cru Burgundy. But one with a very long skirt and long sleeves--bookish, proper and elegant. The concentration is certainly there, and to some extent there is a growing sense of tannic structure in the finish, but it doesn't frame the wine right now; it's simply just another element that happens to be there. That the bottle at nearly 7/8th's empty showed so well on day 2 without siphoning oxygen should indicate the progression the Grenache goes through in this wine. It is a 100% honest reflection of northern sector CdP, and should only be interpreted in that context. In doing so, I suspect this will be a wine to enjoy not as a stand-alone conversation piece, but as a vital dinner companion: great acidic cut, caressing tannin and just the right dial on fruit volume. Give it some time though. I'm not Cleo--but I'd predict letting it rest for another 4-6 years would be wise.

Retail purchase. Splash decant, enjoyed over 2 nights. Very primary, sweet blueberry, black plum. Easy to drink, revealing a 15% alcohol level with that sweet, rather than hot, finish. Long, dark and a good BBQ wine. Very nice value play at $30, drink or hold.

Nice. Restrained red fruit, slight bit of underbrush, great lean mouthfeel with fairly ripe fruit. This should be great in a couple of years after it sheds some of the bite from the chewy tannins on the finish. The lean feel and ripe fruit should appeal to those that find '07 too over the top, kind of a Burg lovers CDP.

Fairly translucent dark red/purple in the glass. A little plum with smooth red fruit on the nose. A little closed on the nose in my opinion. Medium-to-full bodied on the palate, good acid on the attack. Same plum from the nose, but nothing really standing out. Bitter/unripe tannins on the finish make this fairly unmemorable for my palate. Just didn't have the stuffings of a top-quality wine, and I'm honestly a little surprised given Robert Parker's raves; I typically fall much more in line with his palate.

The first review here is off base, and the second two are right on. Decanted for 2 hours and drank from decanter over the next 2 hours. Initially a little coy. The entry texture is very liquid(watery) with no trace of tannin, but a nice pure cherry and dark fruit. There is a very nice balance working here with only a hint of heat on the finish. Midpalate develops more earth and spice and the finish has decent persistance with some nice mouthwatering tannins(there they are!). Had with some lamb chops and a mushroom wine glaze, but unfortunately no fireworks.
After 4 hours, the tannins develop on the entry and the wine is much more full but loses the red fruit for all dark. No fig yet, just some dark cherry and perhaps some plum. The tannins are very fine grained, not harsh, but quite sticky. This is balanced by a nice increase in a woody earthiness. Finishes nicely with some tartness and grip, still very well balanced and no heat at all.
I agree this needs about 2 years in bottle to develop some secondary qualities. It should be consumed likely over the next 10. 2012-2022. At $28 this is excellent QPR.

Medium-dark ruby color. Clean, bright cherry and cassis nose -- very attractive. Medium body; cherries, minerals, a touch of provencal herbs and a long, mouthwatering finish. This is delicious and likely will merit a higher score over time. I think Parker and Tanzer have it right. Give this a year or two iin the cellar (or not!) and enjoy.

Deeply colored in the glass, nearly opaque. Waxed plum, violets, sweet cherry, and balsa on the nose. Medium to full bodied with crunchy red fruit, black fruit on the palate. Lush, round. This is pretty nice CDP for $35, but it doesn't exactly inspire me.

Opened to try, decanted half and let the rest evolve in bottle over a couple of days. Day1: pretty subdued nose, morphing over time and exhibiting flowers, cherries, spice, and mediterranean herbs. On the palate, kirsch, pure red fruit, and some interesting medicinal and herbal notes. Quite boozy for the first few hours. The finish was smooth and long though again boozy. After 4 hours, more balanced and complex. Day2: more balanced and mellow as expected. Still pretty hot on the finish. Label says 15%, hard to believe it is. Day3: still evolving... nose showing some nice candied fruit, more harmonious overall and the heat is gone. It was best on this day. Overall, this was certainly in the over the top camp, too ripe and hot. Won't buy any more of these.

The nose is licorice, cranberry, earth, and just slightly sweet. The taste matched, adding herbal notes and perhaps eucalyptus. The fruit was on the drier side, definitely taking a step back with the age.

- Very subtle.

The lightness and yet depth in the middle palate suited the pinot glass to me.

mostly in line with previous notes
-yes there's some detectable alcohol but not in an uncharacteristic way for CdP
-nose is fairly shy, almost disappointingly so. PnP in my case
-no real apparent indications of "age" on my bottle. Not much bricking, very little sediment (some on the last pour), some oxidation of the fruit, but not very much oxidation and definitely no off-putting pruny/figgy dried/cooked fruit apparent in many older warm vintages
verdict=drinks like what a younger high-alcohol/high-fruit CdP wine SHOULD. fun

Enjoyed with Kate and Jan at the BoJos, over dinner and lively after-repast conversations. The longer after it was opened, the deeper it became, more fragrant, more luscious, and an extended finish. Kate described it as "luxe ... with lots of chocolate." I agree completely.

The lean feel and ripe fruit should appeal to those that find '07 too over the top, kind of a Burg lovers CDP.

Deep ruby color. Still has the cherry/cassis nose and rich fruit on the palat (see prior note), but seems to be a little closed down at the moment. Will wait a year to try another.

More structural than fruit driven, which is a nice change of pace for the '07 CdPs I've tasted so far. Nice cedar and blackberry with a fairly long aromatic finish.

Med. ruby. On opening, stewed fruits with a smoky undertone. Earthy. Dark fruits, cherries, lavender and mushrooms. On the palate, silky texture with fresh acidity. Med. tannins. Cherries licorice and rassberries with a little spice.

This was a nice example of a good 2007 CdP. I will wait for 5-8 years with the rest of these.

Give this a year or two iin the cellar (or not!) and enjoy.

too young. very thin and vegetal on the palate. This will put on weight while in the bottle? -it better. The loser of the night.
