quite amazed with this second wine of Figeac, that after all these years can maintain such balance and finesse, with primary secondary and tertiary notes. alcohol 13%. PnP, great QPR at US60 a bottle. don't miss it, drink now. 50CS 30CF 20ML, per info from Figeac.

Sweet, ‘pretty’, sensual fruit that beguiles you. Remarkably, this STILL needs time to be coaxed into form! Develops for hours in the glass. The bouquet of cedar-wrapped, glowing fruit emerges right away, but the flavor interest, body and texture takes its time. Be sure to uncork 2-3 hours ahead, or decant, in order to get the creaminess of this terrific vintage.

Note: I use a rating scale for which 85 represents a very good wine.
Got to give this the magical 90. Excellent Bordeaux -- perfect balance in all regards. Opened and let it breathe for 1 hour, then decanted for serving -- seemed pretty good to go from the outset. A pleasure.

Hmm, at 15+ this drank well last night. Not fully aged by a long shot, some of the youthful fruit has matured and is nicely balanced with a tart note on the finish. Great value. Nose was excellent, rich with black cherry or blackberry; on the palate, black cherry with a cranberry edge that tapers into a cedar/eucalyptus note on the finish.

For a relatively cheap Bordeaux, this drinks like a champ. Deep dark purple, showing almost no signs of the 12 years it has already. Tannins are present, but have smoothed out significantly and this is drinkable from the moment I opened, although it still drinks better three hours in. Slight sediment. Alcohol at 13% seems downright tame compared to the Napa monsters. As a second bottling, this drinks much better than I had anticipated. Clear dark fruits resound with an ever so minor dry kick at the end.

Pretty much the same as my last note in '09. Terrific nose on this if you love classic Bordeaux secondary notes. The rich fruit would be best served with a touch more acidity but it is not flabby. Plenty of tannin here and the fruit shows some ripe characters. A Garagiste winner at $26. No rush.

Thicker than I suspected, hint of bell pepper on the nose, tobacco and dark fruits as well. Nice finish, but occansiionally, it would be a little astringent. Would not buy again at $40, but would gladly drink again if offered.

Not liking this much. No fruit. Some pencil lead, and a bit acrid, with vegetal notes. I wonder if there is something wrong with the bottle. Not corked.

Dark upon opening, no bricking noted. nose of bordeaux earth, minimal funk, dark fruits leather, methol and cedar. Palate with some dark fruits, plums, currants and cassis and mild herbalness.. Nothing overpowering any of the other components.. Harmonious bordeaux with a nice velvty finish. In a good place now, a few more years and will continue to evolve.

DaRk fruited and v fruity on the nose. Attractive though. But it keeps it's old world prints from The slight hints of austerity and earth on the finish. Has time left for a few more years. Must be decanter now though.

Xmas’s Eve’s Eve wines (Asia Grand @ Odeon Tower): The darkest color so far. Dark ruby, very bright. Very focus aromas of earthy, pencil leads, eucalyptus, cigar box, tobacco with underlying sweet dark plum and currant fruits that flow on to the round, polish texture with good depth, complexity and purity of sweet dark fruits and some dried herbs. Long spicy with good harmonious finish. Still pretty young and there is some upside potential. Buy - No.

Very nice bottle -- classic Bordeaux profile. I wish that I had blind-tasted it (I opened it at home). so that I could have gotten the "2nd wine" stereotype out of my mind.
Regardless, quite tasty. Makes me look forward to the two '00 Figeacs I have.
Let it breathe for an hour -- absolutely necessary (or certainly leads to an improvement).

Un nez typique et classique de cette appellation. Cerises noires, tabac, chocolat et terre humide. C'est très expressif et charmeur.
En bouche, belle texture soyeuse et carressante. Un beau fruité pure avec de beaux tannins fondus. Assez long et persistant. Pour le prix c'est du grand St-Émillion.

Tough to rate because I'm partial to this style. Conservative score as I enjoyed it more than wines I've rated higher (again, #s never tell the story). Anyhow, classic right bank loveliness, with balanced cherry, plum, cigar box and some vegetal notes. Silky smooth texture. Resolved and drinking beautifully with a quick decant. Another outstanding 2000 -- the more I drink the more I realize I should be buying lesser Bordeauxs from great vintages.

Classic aromas of cigar and earth with chocolaty plum. Rich palate showing a bit of oak vanilla. Could use a bit more acidity and could probably use more time for the fruit to relax some on the palate. The expressive nose was hard to keep away from though. A terrific value and has a ways to go.

Certainly a strong Cab Franc nose of green peppers and celery. Palate a bit thin with the vegetal flavors carrying thru. Tannins very smooth and light, maybe too much so. Have decanted about an hour at this point. Interesting to see if the vegetal recedes and fruit comes forward a bit with some time.

Decanted for 30 minutes. Initially began earthy with minerals and dirt tastes that was quite rich and strong. However, around 60 minutes after opening, the wine developed its fruit, with light berries and currant taste. Minimal tannins that seemed to complement the fruit, mild acidity, and a modest lingerning taste of earth and fruit. Quite an enjoyable wine.

Smelled leather, liqourice and a hint of vanilla. Round soft and smooth as silk with a long and developing after taste. Open the bottle and let it breath for at least an hour before tasting.

Dark purple red. Green capsicum with some spice notes framed by good oak and firm structure. It got progressively sweeter with notes of cherries. Ripe black cherries provide a gentle lusciousness on the palate, exhibiting the terroir of St Emilion. A bordeaux blend that new world drinkers can enjoy. Textbook in approach with hints of new world forwardness.

Dinner at Le Bistrot (Indoor Stadium, Singapore): Paired with roast Angus ribeye. Very textbook St Emilion, guessed as much when tasted blind, but not a very good 2000 - I thought it was more reminscent of a 2001 or 2004. Darkly ruby. The nose opened up rather green, with ripe stems, capsicum and lots of sweet morelo cherry, on a forest floor bed. The palate showed some difused heat, and then lots of sweet cherry and dark berry. Pretty good finish with a bit of smoke, wood and spice and some more heat. Simple but pleasant.

Drank with 15 mins of decanting. Lots of fruit, soft tannins, but also lots of green pepper. The pepper seemed to disappear for the 2nd day. Nice, but not as good as i had remembered in St Emilion. Will consume othere with food only.
