  • Made from single varietal of Syrah sourced from three different plots of l’Ermite, Le Sabot and Les Bessards. Aged in oak for 16 months. Medium+ ruby colour with bricking rim. Intense complex and perfumed aroma of cherries, dried roses, incense, spices, leather, hint of sweet tobacco. Medium+ body, lean texture, still in great shape, fruity and vibrant, earthy and smoky red fruit flavours, saline notes, vibrant high acidity, melting medium tannins. Started blossoming after an hour in decanter.

  • Oddbods Committee Tasting; 10/12/2023-10/13/2023 (New Inn Colchester): A very cool Syrah, classy and restrained. Complex but not showy. It was decanted for 4 hours, so plenty of time left.

  • This seems more like a Southern Rhone than a Northern one. Big and bold, with anise. I will try again in the winter, maybe it suffered with the summer weather, although we are on the North shore of Minnesota, 70's.

Quel beau RQP, encore une fois sur 2004.
C’est suave et pas mal à point. Cerises

  • Annual Wine Group Summer Event - BBQ Brisket at Siggy's (Siggy & Jenny's Place, Mpls, MN): Dark red plus color with a 12mm bricked transition. Splash double decanted. Very earthy, iron, blood meal, purple flowers, Provencal herbs, smoke, dark fruits garrigue, pepper. The palate is medium full bodied with cool dark fruits, blackberry, with blueberry and dark cherry influences, pepper, garrigue spices and dried herbs, nice length and complexity. This is in a good spot and was better on day 2.

  • Solid Hermitage, dark brick in the glass with a very limited nose. On the palate especially primary fruit. Still quite young in appearance, nice to drink now, but can age further.

  • See previous note. Hasn't evolved a whole lot over the last three years – still displays a very pretty nose, but comes across as a touch weedy and shallow for a wine of this calibre. Must admit I’ve lost confidence in any further favourable development, so I would recommend consuming this sooner rather than later. Don’t get me wrong – this is an enjoyable wine – just a little disappointing given price and pedigree.

  • Delas Hermitage Masterclass with Steven Spurrier (Handford Wines, London): This wine has definitely improved a lot with age and is now showing superb ( Papies 89 in 2013). The color shows its age, very pretty wine, good ripe fruit but soft, elegant , harmonious and with silky-ish tannin. Very good use of oak here. The nose is the peak of of this wine at this stage, Burgundian in a way, pure expression of fruit. This is now marching well into the greatness zone and definitely has a lot of life ahead of it.

    Conclusion : excellent, à revoir en 2019-2020...

  • Decanted for two hours and tasted blind. Garnet, purple tinge and watery rim. Blackcurrant fruit, tar and bonfire ashes on the nose, brilliant intense blackcurrant flavours, pepper, warming, cedar finish. A comforting, superbly balanced wine, excellent.

  • Red fruit here - cherry and cranberry. Some pepper and smoke as well as some meaty notes too. Good acidity and resolving tannins but a little rustic. Not quite the depth of the 2006, but streets ahead of the Delas Cote Rotie from 2007. Solid. Drink now with a 2 hour airing or hold for up to 5 years.

  • Decanted for just under an hour before tasting. Medium purple core, pink rim. Beautiful and complex nose with hints of raspberries, leather, moist soil, iron filings, floral scents, sea minerals and cedar-wood. Still a touch tight on the palate, but seems to have enough stuffing for it to flesh out somewhat over the next few years. Decant or hold (91-93 points).

  • FW-BYOB-HT#2: ¤FW - Big vocal nose of blackcurrants, plums, bay leaves and some barnyard hay. Knowing what it was I felt a bit disappointment that there weren't any syrah spiciness to be found, but still a very nice and fresh nose. Overall the wine had a great freshness to it. Medium body, with distinct, tart tannins and a really good intensity. A few more years in the cellar and this will probably be a even greater!

  • Find it hard to keep my hands off from these. Huge, generous lavendel-dominated nose with white pepper, pine tree, black tea and tobacco. Powerful, yet elegant taste with white pepper, lavendel and some minerals. Fantastic at this price.

  • Good wine, pleasant and balanced. Fruit, light roast meat on the nose. Well round on the palate even at this young age. Ripe fruit, silky tannin, enjoyable and good value for money. 88-90

  • Quite tight at opening and even after carafe, it took it a good 3 hours to be open. Some gamey taste, rich, and good finish.
Have to let it sit for a while now.

  • 13,5% d'alcool, 100% Syrah

  • Has developed since last time I had this. Typical lavendel, ceder tree on the nose with some sweet liquorice as well. On the palate it has good depth with nice and firm tannins. Has a fine spicy touch in the long finish. I just love the Northen Rhone.

92 pts.

  • Dinner at my place. Very dark intensive colour. Looked almost like a amarone. On the nose it was tight, very young, but had some lovely hints of perfyme and cherries. On the palate it was fruity, concentrated, complex and very young. Great length as well. I will try another in the next 7-8 years. I think this will be fantastic.
