Impressive stuff. Feels a little younger than previous bottle, the sense of richness still present but quickly subsumed by a grippier and more minerally frame. Long with laser like focus and line. ****

R/Y/I/C (Home): Mid straw. Very poised and focused. Lovely minerality, finely crystalline. Complex and long. There’s richness but it’s balanced by the freshness and complexity, making the Choisiles seem a little simple by comparison. ****

I have been returning to this wine for some time now and I am always surprised. For one - there is some bottle variation in terms of energy, some bottles are kicking with energy, some are significantly calmer (not old). For two - the wine is aging beautifully, melting into honeyed waxy quince juice with orange bitter, always evolving in the glass the whole evening. Very long finish, full mouthfeel, great weight, full body but not too heavy, in fact almost airy scents of summer flowers. Very good.

In comparison with the previous bottle some months ago (see my TN), this one is much firmer and younger. No sight of tiredness, this one is rock solid, mineral and citrusy. Great concentration, very clean yet rich mouthfeel and long cleansing finish. Aeration helps to blossom. Very good!

Lovely. Gracefully oaked, with a ribbon of cocoanut sweetness opening up in mid palate and elegantly flowing through til end. Still plenty of acid firmness, with citrus bite on the attack moving into clear apple and baked straw, lingering bits of limestone on finish. Richness and refreshment. Delicious.

Beautiful weight, great volume and good length. Loosing its primal energy and esprit, but still a lot going on. The wine is opening up with air, deepening great lemon zest and citrusy juice with mild sweet spices. Quite intense and long with deep warm energy.

This was really good. It has taken on a good bit of color. Fruit profile is yellow apples, as Brooklyn Guy notes, with floral notes, hay, and some lanolin. I get pretty little residual sugar in this (no idea what the amount is, but I don't detect a whole lot). I do wish I had more of this to see how it develops. For the money, Chidaine is pretty damn awesome.

Shows a bit of color, though lightens somewhat with air. Old hay bale on the nose, needs some air to shed its confinement and open fully, then shows plenty of depth, excellent intensity of flavor, nice acidity and minerality, with a burst of mouthwatering acidity to bring you back for another gulp. Very enjoyable.

Light hay in color, very crisp and fresh, nice intensity of fruit, strong acidity, a flash of stone minerality, and some good umami meatiness on the finish. Very enjoyable, though lacking some complexity for the moment.

I think IsaacJamesBaker nailed it with his note. Rich, complex, and energetic with wonderful balance and a mouthwatering finish. Maybe cost a few bucks more than I would have liked, but the quality of this is undeniable. I haven't yet discovered that same sense of precision and exquisite beauty in Chidaine that I sometimes get in great bottles of Huet, but this producer is definitely in the same league, which is saying something.

Fantastic chenin, loaded with energy. Right out of the fridge it was hard to get past the searing acidity of this wine. But as it warmed in the glass, things started to round out nicely, with the scene becoming more tropical. But the mineral and acid streak persisted, giving the impression that this wine will continue to uncoil itself with more time. An absolute pleasure to follow this over the course of the evening. Long, mouth watering finish keeps you coming back for more. Chidaine continues to impress.

Summertime Weekend; 6/2/2012-6/3/2012: This is a superb chenin that is very young and will continue to improve for at least a decade. The aromas have Champagne-like intensity, what with the limestone, lemon zest and white flowers. The aromas changed so much with air and an increased temperature, showing pineapple sauce, mango nectar and smoked nuts. What a gorgeous nose. The palate is huge, starting off with a burst of rich melon and pineapple fruit. Then the acid comes in, searing, with intense minerals and chalk. There is so much canteloupe in this wine, it's ridiculous. I love the mango nectar and slate flavors that linger on the finish. This wine evolved eons over the course of the evening, and it will continue to gain complexity for a decade, easy. Rarely do I find a chenin blanc that has equally massive amounts of richness and minerality. It's an intriguing wine indeed. Good choice, Bob.

Having been through the line-up of Chidaine's 08s, I bought this '07 to compare. Not as overt and as giving as the '08s, this is more linear, not as big and effusive . . . and these are not criticisms. A touch of honey at the front of the palate, good clarity and focus, precise, with tremendous minerality, and the wine ends very dry in the mouth. The finish showed a reverb of minerality on the walls of my mouth long after I swallowed the wine.

Apples and river pebbles, that honeyed chenin blanc nose. More restrained than a Vouvray, but still delicious. Chidaine is always a reliable top-notch producer.

NY/NJ Tribeca Grill Offline 12.6.10 (Tribeca Grill NYC): Restrained nose with floral, apple, and woolly chenin blanc notes. Similar notes on the palate. Dry in this vintage. High acid, medium-bodied, and medium-long finish.

very lovely wine - clean and deep chenin flavors, yellow apples, stone, well balanced. the finish is intriguing, with good length and a woolly undertone. i love drinking this wine, and i'd gladly drink more, but it also lacks a certain energy that I look for.

Aromas of citrus, apples, milk chocolate, herbs and a leesy note. Shows just a touch of RS, but with good acidity that makes it crisp on the attack which then rounds out on the mid-palate with apple and honey notes. Good length with chalky mineral finish.

Nose of honey, apple, spice and citrus peel. Tightly wound. Palate Is grainy and complex with honey, apples, limes, and minerals. Again quite tightly wound with a lot going on. Long and mineral finish. Outstanding.
