Always a favorite of mine, this has mellowed nicely over the years. Crisp pear, honeysuckle and apple make this a phenomenal choice for light or spicy fare.
Holding up nicely after proper storage, but drink soon!

shared with pat at selkirk manor to celebrate the end of the work week. amazing how time goes by. more than a year since we last enjoyed this wine. serial tasting notes indicate the lack of precision in the 100 point scale for rating wine. 88:nothing special, 89:like a lot, 90:like very much, 91+: something special. my tasting notes 12/24/2010, 9/23/2011 and today; all rated 90. yet, there are subtle differences. today's bottle was half way between 12/2010 when the wine was firing on all cylinders and 9/23/2011 when the wine was still enjoyable but fading slightly. today, nice balance between acidity and fruit. still taste grapefruit, lemon, citrus. very fresh, with good attack on the palate but lacking a bit of energy and stamina. still, our favorite california sauvignon blanc, perhaps because it is so robust and, therefore, not typical of what i expect from that grape.

shared this with pat at selkirk manor. hard to believe that 9 months have gone by since we last enjoyed this wine. current notes are substantially the same as previously. at this point, however, i would have to say that it is time to drink up and move on to the next vintage.

Opened to pair with sweet corn risotto. Nose had some citrus and creamy oak. Really disjointed on the palate with initial flavors of tropical fruit that gave away to vanilla on the bitter finish. Lacked any acidic backbone and was less than memorable. There's much better SB out there for much less $.

Pop and pour and tasted with food. This is crisp and clean with green apple, fresh cut grass and some lime notes on the finish. Does not wow. It's like the Us magazine in the dentist's waiting room. Just something to pass the time.

Smelled of grapefruit, citrus zest, and faint ammonia. The taste starts slightly sweet and moves to a crisp tart grapefruit and candied lemon zest. Paired nicely with Chicken Vindaloo.

Bitter, very little substance or character. Doesn't even compare to a New Zealand Sav Blanc. Was a $5 bottle of wine that cost $30.50. Will never buy again!!!

shared with pat, ellen and mahesh for christmas eve dinner. paired with the last of 7 fish (pan fried chilean sea bass and pan fried scallops. the wine seems to have put on some weight since we tasted it in florida last spring. everyone at the table enjoyed the fresh crisp citrus flavors dominated by grapefruit, along with hints of green apple, all in balance with a touch of oak. this is our favorite california sauvignon blanc. good qpr as well.

Color is light yellow, 5% saturated. Nose is minuscule and only gives up a bit of lemon and vanilla - perhaps the most innocuous of any SB I've ever tried. Palate is hot and astringent, without much fruit or herbaceous character and seems unbalanced as well. Finish is abrupt and watery. Not flawed, but not a good showing and a complete disappointment for a $50 restaurant purch. Feels like it's heading over the hill already (4+7+10+4) = 75

Had at Beacon street Tavern. Didn't have high hopes but it seemed to be the best choice from the list. It did not reach my fairly low expectations. Not much going on. A very simple wine without much flavor or complexity. I have had much better NZ SBs for far less $.

Hmmm, I didn't find any of the astringency that others here did, just a nice creamy rounder-leaning CA sauv blanc with nice ripe citrus and clean and fresh.

Cakebread Tasting (Red Rock Bistro, Swampscott, MA): 25% of this was aged in new French oak. Pale greenish yellow in the glass, this was served just slightly chilled, and could have benefited from being a few degrees colder. The nose was an odd combination of sour white fruits, hard cheese, pear, lilac, and a lambic-like funk. On the palate this was brighter, with flavors of lime, granny smith apples, earth, and summer herbs. The palate was rather too dominated by oak. I liked this more than other bottles I have had in the past.

Great white wine to start. Citrus, grapefruit, mineral and acid. Best with Artemis' family olive oil -- but also good with the cheese, nuts and fish. At Anastasia's dinner ...

Just Ilene and I .... unwinding after a gruesome drive from Beverly Hills in Friday rush hour. Bought this wine from the fridge at Monarch Market so it was very cold. Started with a fragrant nose of apple, melon and a hint of lime. None of the infamous "cat piss on a gooseberry bush" that often times is associated with this varietal. Turned out to be a great companion to our simple snack of Genoa salami, gorgonzola and mozzarella.

mario and adele treated us to dinner at jake's stonecrab. gina requested a bottle for the table. enjoyed the wine with stonecrab claws. had a little more body than i usually associate with sauvignon blanc. but, it is basically a quaffer. not a bad buy at retail but poor qpr off the restaurant list.
