Three decades of Screaming Eagle: As with many of these very ripe Napa vintages, I don't believe in their ageworthiness. This was very ripe, showed some plums, prunes, williams, creme de cassis and fruit in rum. Good, but rather to drink now than to keep

A private tasting and dinner (Restaurant Fitzgerald *, Rotterdam, NL): Playful and powerful, concentrated but so elegant and precise, ripe blackcurrant and flowers, cassis leaf, glossy and delicately autumnal, harmonious, perfectly integrated oak, firm but extremely finely grained tannins, hints of red meat, real depth, extremely long and layered finish. A masterpiece.

A pre-50 pre Birthday Celebration; 6/9/2023-6/11/2023 (Around Zurich Area): Tasted blind with no decanting. Andreas went do Quintarelli Alzero 2010 and Nicol for an 15y Amarone! Punchy , ripe, juicy very much a dark fruited mix and on open slightly porty. We are not sure what to further say here but maybe this requires a long decant or maybe it’s just far too young albeit not austere or harsh. At this age is definitely not our style.

Intense power balanced by elegance is at play here. Deep and dark in color, the nose and palate, there is a serious depth of flavor here. Opulent, dense, earthy, ripe, and very ripe, the black and blue fruits, licorice, chocolate, hints of flowers, smoke, licorice and coffee kept on coming on the nose and palate. The finish retained its depth of flavor for over 60 seconds. There was a minor touch of heat but the wealth of fruit overwhelmed it and within a few seconds, you forgot all about it as you focused on everything else that was going on in the wine.

Popped & decanted. Almost overpowering scents of chocolate & mocha, which somewhat subsided (suddenly & prematurely??), then taken over by notes of fruits/red-blue berries, this kept morphing in the olfactory department. Somewhat "strange"... Silky, fresh, concentrated, plush, but a tad sweet on the palate, this was most definitely a very polished wine, but at S$5K+ a pop!? In any case, great thanks to EK for bringing this!

Lots of hype for the wine that I have read about. Decanted 1-1/2 hours. Dark fruit color, supper fresh on the palate. Lacking to me depth on the palate. It’s a baby and needs more time. Hold.

I did a blind tasting to my girlfriend and she felt it was changing flavor the first 4 times she sipped it. To me it was a bit closed at first, I opened around noon and leave it in the bottle until 7pm.
After one hour (half way) I unveiled it and then the physiological effect kicked in. She started likely more and more.
To me this is a medium to full body, nicely balanced and mocha alike with a long and high acidity finish. Is this the best wine I have had? No, will I spent this much again? No. I rather have 5 Vega Sicilia Unico or Shafer Hillside Select.
Napa Valley Master Class with Robert Parker; 11/10/2016-11/20/2016 (Napa Valley): During a Napa 2007 horizontal tasting guided by Robert Parker. Very different nose than the wines before, next to blue fruit there is red fruit here, cherry, cassis, ripe but not overripe, ostentatious. On the palate much silkier than the wines before, elegance and volume well balanced. I can see the triple digit here. PS: After I tasted through 5 red wines from this estate over the next two days, the 2007 was the best of them. Stylistically I would describe the house style as follows: 1. Hallmark is its freshness and silky tannins. These wines are not Napa bruisers. 2. Quality is good but it remains a mystery to me why this has become the cult wine among all Napa cult wines

Best bottle of wine I've ever had. Completely outclassed the 96 Lafite. Months later, the 4 of us are still talking about this wine. Liquid silk. Just incredible.

Plush, ripe and loaded with cassis and blackberries. There's not a hair out of place. It has more polish than a brand new cricket ball. A thread of flora weaves through the aroma and flavor profile. Quite delicious.

Baller dinner honoring Chicago winos -- 99 La Tache, 99 Leroy RSV, 07 SE & etc (The Grill Room at Capella Hotel Georgetown): This seems big and ripe compare to a couple other vintages I had. Intense sweet blue fruit driven nose, cassis, blueberry liquor, lead pencil, dust and a hint of cherry coming from alcohol. Excellent concentration, silky and polished, jammy blue fruit driven palate impression, good acidity, nicely integrated tannins and good length. Very enjoyable but at $2k per pop……

Decanted for 2 hours. This was my first time trying SE. This wine seemed to be ripe with lots of bright red fruit. Very smooth with a silky finish. Beautiful wine but hard to justify the price tag.

This wine held it's own in a blind tasting of 8 fantastic Napa Cabs from 2001-2007. This was my WOTN... Most of the group had the Screaming Eagle in their top 3. Overall very well balanced wine... beautiful noise... silky tannins and fruit. WONDERFUL The wine looks Inky colored. The legs are Medium.

2007 Cal Cult Cabs (SE, Harlan, etc.) and a bunch more: Might as well get to it. The nose has cassis, cigar tobacco and a streak of sour cherries that is very interesting. With air (I kept some in a glass all night), the sour cherries fade and some pencil shavings emerge. On the palate sour cherries and cassis. Great balance. This is not a blockbuster wine. Some compared it to Grand Cru Burgs. I thought more of a Graves style wine. Not sure any wine is "worth" the cost, but this deserves it reputation as an elite wine. Still young and kept improving all night long.

Pop and pour. Big nose. Lots of stuffing in the bottle but a little out of sorts. What did we expect- this thing is even too young for pre-school. One of our tasting group was overly curious as to what it would taste like this young. Let this be a cautionary tale - don't try this at home. This juice is wagyu, not veal.

Absolutely amazing. After letting it sit for 12 hours it got even better. The money spent hurts but the taste was incredible.

From a wood trio.
Worth the hype.
Sensational.
As good a flavor as all but one Cabernet I’ve ever had, and tannins the most silky I’ve savored. Ever.
I imagine it is what Margaux tasted like in the best vintage of the 18th C.
Worth the hype?
Yes.
Worth $3.5k
Um.
At least once, yes. After that, it really just depends how much cake you fucking have, buddy. It cost me.
Not a trace of whisper of a rumor of regret.
(The second of three sold yesterday.)
Enjoy it!!
