A bit delayed on this note and so committing from memory and the scratch pad. Tasted '08 and '95 side by side and first Vogue run in. To me the '08 screamed out as needing more time. There was a decent amount of stuff going on, but it was searching for clarity and calm. The nose reminded me of a ketchup heavy hamburger. The '95 by far a better drink, but looking at market prices for Vogue; I'm unimpressed.

YB belated at Pine Close. Tasted blind. Drank in Gabriel Standart. From decanter over 2+ hours. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of floral rose and violets, dark red cherries, strawberries, dark herbs. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium- alcohol (12.5%), satiny medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of dark red cherries, ripe strawberries, sweet red plum, dark herbs, crunchy dark stones minerality. Long finish. Very good quality. Still at a somewhat young awkward stage though. Firing off its flavours in an unfocused way currently. Will need more patience to see it come together.

La Paulée de New York - The Verticals (Eventi Hotel - New York NY): Walk around tasting, in 08/02/95 vertical. Ripe black and red cherry with impressive density, alongside powerful tannins and acidity. Patience required, another decade will be rewarded, 92-93+ points, 2028 forward.

PR 1969 Extravaganza: Red florals, musk, iron and ash. Sweet palate with both red and black fruits, seems like it has become more approachable, it is still powerful but the fruit seems settled and the balance is really showing well. More time of course will suit this but it's starting to come into its own.

(Blind tasting) Full and open nose. Sweet cherry and pinot-spiciness. Chalk, cinnamon, perfume and red-black fruit. Complex medicinal notes. Very fine depth. Medium-fullish, dense and tight palate. Concentrated, but a lovely aroma picture: spice, forest floor, plum and liquorice. Very long, rich and intense. Structured and balanced. Not rowdy and rustic. Sweetish elegance. Clearly GC level and much more generous than expected from the slightly lean vintage. This bottle proves that Bonnes Mares can be a top notch GC. One of the best de Vogue tasted in our group's tasting history.

Attractive for a young Vogue – great purity and drive. Soft and elegant nose of sweet mixed berries, candid strawberries. creamy. Good grip but missing some depth. Very different from Musigny plot, doesn’t have much Grand Cru flair. Bonnes Mares is one of the overpriced Grand crus. Can treat it as a good Premier Cru instead. Not the best value wine of all the Comte Georges de Vouge. Their Chambolle Musigny Premier Cru is almost just as good as Bonnes Mares and it’s about 30% cheaper. (93-94/100)

Probably the top wine of my life, blew away the DRC Echezeaux 2008 from the night before. So complex and compelling, showing a huge spectrum of flavors from the big heavy meaty to bright berries. All the while it feels silky and supple. I'm just blown away! Given the big tannins, I think it will continue to impress for decades.

NFA Dinner 2014 (Gattopardo Restaurant, Tras Street, Singapore): I liked this very much. Unmistakeably Vogüé in style, and quite nicely showing its terroir - this is one of the few wines that I could guess correctly. I thought this was a step-up from the more open and immediately charming 2006 Mugnier Bonnes Mares that we had alongside. Its nose started out with an unusual whiff of malt honey tones. This more or less hang around in the air throughout the time I had the wine in the glass, but it did cede way to lovely notes of rich, ripe, red and blue fruit - blueberries I thought - flecked with a little toast spice. Still clearly very young, but already nicely attractive. The palate had that marriage of broad shouldered strength with noble purity that I like in the best Bonnes Mares. It was marked by the clean, fresh and wonderful integrated acidity of the vintage, which gave a lovely clarity to its nicely round blue-fruited character (blueberries at the forefront again, with black cherries chasing behind), this time met with deeply buried notes warm spice and a toss of earth that went past the midpalate and into the long, nicely complete finish. It was hard as nails at first right here at the end, with strong, structured grip, but opened up quite nicely with shades of blue fruit and lots of fragrant spice drifting out from amidst the tannins. This was a wine of terroir, with the Bonnes Mares character showing through a subtle sense of power and structure, yet there was always a lovely elegance to the wine that made it so pleasurable even in its youth. A cool, classy wine, and one that will reward a lot of patience yet. I would give this another 10 years, maybe even more.

Sydney Burgundy Celebration (Sydney, Australia): From a second bottle that had been open 4 hours. Florals have started to emerge but there is still plenty of meat and earthy spices. Crackles with power and intent. On the verge of showing its explosive power but it just needs more time even with the lengthy opening time.

Burgundy Tasting (Ivy, George Street, Sydney): rich ripe berry fruit, cream, vanilla and spice - good oak - cedar and very elegant and polished nose. IN the mouth the wine has medium plus acid, spice, almost mocha notes over red berry. Still quite youthful with front of mouth talc like tannic grip on the medium plus length

The 2008 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Bonnes Mares is light ruby in colour with a mild yet extremely fresh nose. The absolutely seductive nose displays red currants, crushed cherries, crisp apples and fresh roses. Gentle but overwhelmingly fragrant and aromatic.
On the palate, an initial entry of sour cherries before the mid-palate progresses to a pleasurable (but not frontal) sweetness of crushed cherries an crisp apples. Underlying acidity brings out the fruit flavours well. Acidity and fruit flavours coming together towards the end for a perfect simultaneous ending of a long tart finish.
Too young now for sure, extremely closed when first opened that the nose is almost unnoticeable. Took a lot of 'agitation' for it to get going a little. Decades ahead for it. (92-95)

Beat the Lafite tasting (Sydney, Australia): Meaty notes, red cherry and rhubarb with a tinge of earth and chestnut, and in the background initially, but lifting continually was a very fragrant perfumed element. The palate shows off focused minerality and fine acidity, with plenty of red fruit showing through. It's more restrained in nature than muscular, though the tannins are firm and this obviously needs time to flourish.

Velvety but tannins need to soften. A good mix of cherries, raspberries, dried roses, forest floor, cinnamon and black tea. Acidity brings freshness and increase the perception of minerality. This is very young and will shine in 10 years

红色水果和奶油的的味道。同桌说还没有开放,Comte Georges非常难以打开,一般应存放30年,打开的话应该有各种香气。
