This has always been one of my favorite bottlings and always a go-to wine because the price has always been reasonable. I feel this vintage is no exception as it has a gorgeous blackberry nose with cherry overtones accenting an intense tobacco smokey flavor. The finish is long and strong as is typical with the "Knights Valley" offering. I swear it's always been good if not better than good for the price. And that is the bottom line with this wine. This vintage is no different as i feel it is exceptional and worthy of a good score. How can one go wrong with a wine from Sonoma that produces such vibrant fruit at this price point.!!

As the weather cools I turn from light fruity Pinot Noirs to more robust fare. A good wine from a great vintage. Nothing amazing just a well made middleweight full of fruit with a bit of tart plum and black cherry. Dry with softened tannins with a slight acidic finish. Not over the hill just yet

Modest dark cherry nose. Medium blackberry with lighter raspberry and moderate tannins upfront. The tannins hold through the midpoint and then slowly fade. The modest acidity also hits right upfront. The blackberry fades fairly quickly, but the raspberry holds on into the light but lengthy finish. Bottles like this one should easily last a bit longer.

My last bottle of this, and noticeably better than the previous ones - especially on the second day. Shows a nice nose of vanilla, berries and dried herbs. Full-bodied, the palate is a nicely balanced combination of spicy fruit and oak with a mild acidity. Fine, dusty tannins and a hint of chocolate linger nicely on the finish. Still seems a bit tight and doesn't have tremendous length, but this is polished, easy to drink and quite enjoyable. Could do a lot worse for $15 in a Sonoma Cabernet. 50+5+11+14+8=88

- Medium forming legs - Certainly nothing to write home about. Had a nice initial aroma with some black fruit but both faded by the end of the glass leaving nothing but tannins. Too bad I have more bottles of this. Even at $16, it drinks cheaper than that.

Better than my last bottle. Nose was nothing special, but front end showed very nice plum with bright notes of red fruit. The only thing keeping this from a higher score was lack of a richer back end with some acidity. This is a very decent value for a Cab that can be had for around $18.

Dark garnet red. Clear complexion. Notes of red/black fruits ~ black raspberries and currants. Vanilla, black licorice, ginger, and pepper round out the nose. Medium weight on the body, medium + acids leads to a slightly tart and chalky mouthfeel. Alcohol and red fruit linger on the finish. Overall, a solid wine. Could use another year or two of cellaring to see if the chalkiness smooths out.

Pop n pour...aroma was forest, cranberries and alcohol, one hour later heat subsides, forest and cranberry remain, black cherry comes out. Taste ripe dark berries and plum. Deliciously smooth, good balance and chewy tannins with a longer finish than you'd expect from a 23 dollar bottle.

This is such fun juice: loads of black cherry, pastille and hookah. There is certainly the density that comes with alluvial fruit, but it’s not distracting, and it follows through in the finish. With many a $23 wine, the hard-hitting stuff often comes at the tip of the tongue, leaving a gaping hole mid-palate and a clipped, bitter finish. The folks at Beringer seem to have solved both issues (Merlot/P. Verdot?).

2007 was a wonderful year in Napa; this wine is exactly what I would expect it to be. To my Europhile palate, the fruitiness and oak were a bit too in your face, but nonetheless it was a very pleasant wine. Would be well suited for most American palates, and so for parties and the like would work well. Dense dark fruit with grippy tannins, a good bit of alcoholic heat without being offputting, and an interesting mix of plum/black cherry along with a hint of green pepper.
Tells you exactly what it is, and though not outstanding, it is easily enjoyed.

At the open this wine's aromas and flavors where reminiscent of a jug wine...kind of fake, fruity, and sweet. On the next day it gained some complexity, tannins and depth. I can see why this wine would have some mass appeal. Maybe some time in the bottle might help, I can think of many lesser cost wines that I prefer to this.

Dark ruby color. Nose: dried black cherry and redcurrant fruit with accents of milk chocolate, fruitcake, smoked cedar, and a little tobacco leaf. A bit hot. Medium body on the palate: more dried black cherry and redcurrant framed by baking spices, milk chocolate, and charred cedar. Solid acidity. Moderate/firm wooden tannins. Lingering graphite and charred cedar on the moderate/long, dry finish. Drinking a bit young right now. Could use a few more years in the cellar.

Medium magenta color, with clear ruby hue. A deep nose full of rich berries & oak. Decidely New World fruit up front, buttressed by spicy, agressive tannins on the back. Mild acidity. Good structure & length to the finish, which is almost effervescent. Good by itself, but really shines with food! Worthy QPR. The label informs us this effort comes from "vineyards rooted in shallow, alluvial soils full of volcanic rock," but no mention is made, whatsoever, of the a.b.v.,...which is odd. [$18.00].

Beringer Wine Seminar with Winemaker Laurie Hook (Binny's Highland Park): Nice color and really plush ripe nose. Showing great for a wine in this price range. This has always proven to be a bottling that drinks well young while still being interesting. Cab Franc does wonders for the mid palate creating a chocolatey rich juicy sensation. A little lean on the back end, but really refined and showing promise in the next year under cork. Nice grip in the finish and a bit tart - not cloying whatsoever though. If the palate showed as well as the nose this could have been a 91-92 point wine believe it or not. Well done with such a large production bottling.

Popped and poured this bottle at dinner, and it was not at all good -- a sulfur odor hung around during the first hour of pulling the cork, which I've found common among "popped and poured" bottles. But the wine began to come alive a couple of hours later; and, 24 hours later, I believe I can finally enter a fair tasting note. A nice nose of ripe, oaky, sweet fruit. On the palate, one can expect mouth coating tannins, and much of the same as the nose -- ripe, oaky, sweet fruits. This wine is a little watered down and thin, which leads to an unremarkable, short finish. But, after 24 hours, this is a soft, round wine that tastes good.

Manufactured cab of middling value. Crimson red with substantial legs. Dark fruit and currant on the nose. Palate underperforms the nose. Modest but balanced finish. 5/5+11/15+14/20+6/10=86

Lori liked the plum element in this, and it grew some on me too, but still I couldn't shake the sense that it seemed a little manufactured. Not much of a bloom here.

Maybe I got a bad bottle, but upon opening it seemed overly sweet, tannic, acidic and green, an unintegrated mess. I hope this is an anomaly. Maybe night two will be better. This is a generally reliable winery.

Medium-bodied, notes of cassis, raspberry, and a little chocolate. Gentle velvety tannins on the finish. Finished a little short, but overall a surprisingly good large-production cab.
Drink through 2013.

Drank from untracked inventory. Solid play in the <$20 CA cab space. Decent dark fruit, not too much oak. Even held up OK on day 2.

Seems to me to be the essence of man-made wine. All parts manufactured and very little terroir. This was the first thought that hit me once this wine touched my palette.

Very nice cabernet, though not much nose. Just the right amount of tannins. Peppery at first, then mellows into black cherry. Had it on Christmas Eve with steak and it was a good choice.

Tasted at the "Hollywood Reds" tutored tasting session at the Gourmet Wine and Food Show, Toronto. A poorly chosen, poor quality batch of wines. Nose - passable. Palette - abit tannic, not alot of fruit, off tastes. Plonk.

Wow, how 6 mths changes things. Still PNP like I did with the last one. Berries, plums on nose. Still not very complex but seems more balanced then before. Finish 20 sec or so not very spicy, which I like better. I would buy more depending on price point.

Nice ruby color. Firm, concentrated, moderately intense notes of cherries, black and red currants, mocha, broccoli, and smooth, ripe tannins. On the verge of jammy but rounds out nicely. Graphite and charred cedar lingers on the finish.

It’s ruby in color and 75 percent opaque.
The nose has black currants, dark cherries, and some chocolate.
It’s quite smooth with a slightly peppery finish.
There are yummy cherries on the palate, and it’s a little bit jammy.
My girlfriend gets broccoli on the nose and palate. Now, I get it, too. A steamed broccoli stalk.
This is pretty good. 88-89 points.
