The color was quite dark, almost like a port. Wow. The wine was extremely good and quite complex. It had a pleasing nose and a very long finish. A wine I will remember for a long time. One of the best wines of the year. Unfortunately, due to the age, I was afraid to give it 30+ minutes in the decanter before consumption. It only had about 15 minutes in the decanter before we started the meal (lobster served chilled with melted butter).

Med red, brown edge. Leather , licorice and prune nose. Lots of flavour, ginger snap ,tar, mint. Tannin is firm and not obtrusive. This opens nicely with time in the glass.
Bricking red, orangeskin rim, nicely expressive nose with dried cherry, rosehips, leather, eucalyptus. Plus acidity and leads an energetic but suave mouthfeel. Paired great with a creamy pasta dish with herbs and mushrooms. Ten+ years after my first bottle, and this is much better. Drinking well, and will hold a while.

I found this bottle leaking a little bit in my cellar, so I opened it. Still seems good, but don't know if its reflective of the avg bottle. Bricky in color. Elegant and complex. Notes of cherries, leather, earth, and flowers.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+: Crimson core with orange rim, Italian; menthol, cedar, dried roses, cherry, sandalwood, classic; some raisins on the palate, ripe but unmistakably Nebbiolo; in a good place.

Med dark. Nose is floral, dark plum, hints of tar and vanilla. Surprisingly viscous, ripe, tannic and concentrated. It's is enjoyable today for the ripe, aromatic fruit but no where near its peak.

Aroma of soil, earth, sweet oak, violet flower, minerals and sour berry. Modern style, hiding many characters of nebbiolo grapes. Super firm and strong tannin but it's still OK to drink. Not much fruit shown. Solid and opaque body. Still need time to develop.

"Am Gaumen konzentriert, mit viel dunkler Frucht, einer feinwürzigen und mineralischen Ader, viel samtige Gerbstoffe, toll eingebundenes Holz, er zeigt Eleganz, Saft und einen sehr langen Nachhall." Just right for father's day!" A good one for father's day!

It was amazing how concentrated the flavors were given how light in color this wine was. Beautiful nose of red raspberries, tar and earthy mushrooms. Very tannic at this point and quite acidic. Nice stuff. The kind of wine that you enjoy smelling the glass after the wine is gone.

Giorgio told a great story about this wine. Mr. Bordini owned this vineyard and sold his grapes. Giorgio's father was friends with Mr. Bordini and often asked if he could buy the vineyard. A few years ago, Mr. Bordini turned 90 and came to Giorgio offering to sell the vineyard at a good price if they would put his name on the label. Now, as Giorgio travels around the world, he frequently gets phone calls from Mr. Bordini asking "Where are you? Do the people there like my wine?" Well, I for one, like it quite a bit!

Luminous ruby. Lovely, exotic nose with some red fruit and spice. Medium body. The palate did not deliver what the aroma suggested - had some holes and seemed artificial. Maybe this with work better with some age.

Spinetta Tasting with Giorgio Rivetti: Lightest color yet. Hint of brown. Tons of earth, flowers and red fruits. Some strawberries. Palate really gets serious. Medium bodied but lots of depth. Big tannins. Some hints of chocolate with sticks and twigs. Lots of earth.

This ticks many of the boxes for a fine Barbaresco. But there's something I don't really like. Too much cherries?

Still rather primary flavors but quite drinkable. Some years to go before it peaks.

Good tannins, vanilla, not very heavy, but left a little to be desired with the finish. A little lighter than expected.

Very classic Nebbiolo. Very fragrant with hints of rose petals. The palette was full of vanilla, spice and nice fine grained tannins. Greatly enjoyed.

Winemaker's Dinner with Giorgio Rivetti of La Spinetta (John Andrew's Restaurant, South Egremont, MA): Very appealing nose of white truffles and red fruit. Elegant, expansive, wonderful! Hints of mint and licorice. Giorgio says this gets 100% new oak too, but the oak doesn't seem nearly as obtrusive here.
Giorgio told a great story about this wine. Mr. Bordini owned this vineyard and sold his grapes. Giorgio's father was friends with Mr. Bordini and often asked if he could buy the vineyard.
