From magnum. Popped and let sit 2 hours in the bottle, then decanted for 30min. Drank over the following 2 hours. Incredible nose of cherries and berries with a slight hint of smoke. Full bodied with just the right amount of fruit. Elegant on the back end with a long finish. Wonderfully aged Barolo

Consistent note from my previous tasting. Really great stuff. I really like the balance from Monforte baroli: deep Nebbiolo flavors and tannins with more oomph than its western neighbors but more approachable than a Serralunga. Not tertiary yet, but I bet in a couple of years, this will be like velvet with some of those wonderful, aged Nebbiolo characteristics. No rush, but no fear in opening now. Drink with an hour or two of air or hold.

Great bottle. Still has some nice Monforte structure, and all of the lovely aromatics to boot. This is about as great an example of a Bussia village level wine as you can get. Really nice from the cork pull. Slightest hint of pinkish orange on the rim. Scents roses, orange peel, cherries, and a faint hint tar. Flavors mirror the bouquet with a 30+ second finish. Bravissimo!

Superb and in a perfect place. Dark cherries, spice, blackberries, perfect acidity. Structured tannins holding the fruit together. Really such a well structured wine.

Same great experience as my 2018.note. if anything it has improved: beautiful nose of red fruits, violet and spice. Perfect balance. Ripe black cherries and dust grippy tannins and perfect acidity. Not much eucalyptus but a nice stewed note. Fantastic.

Light menthol and strawberry on the nose. On the palate, black cherry, blackberry, currant, and notes of menthol, strawberry, and a slightly medicinal spiciness on the medium to long finish, with moderate tannins and strong acidity. This seems to be early in its drinking window - the Cellartracker drinking window is both too early and too short. This is excellent, and it was a good value at a little over $60; unfortunately the price has increased significantly over the past several years.

Lovely wine. Very fresh and vibrant. All the scents and flavors of a classic Barolo but with tannins that are polished and don’t show any of typical rusticity that I associate with old school Barolo. This feels a bit more shut down than it did a few months ago, but it is definitely drinking well. Maybe it’s going to start developing more tertiary nuances?

Decanted three hours and drank with osso bucco. Violet, strong tannins, lavendar, just the right tingle of acidity. A delicious wine. Feminine and lean, not a red meat barolo but damn good with our rich but lean meal. drinking well in February 2018 but there's plenty of life left.

Dark garnet color. Nose of dark fruits and floral notes. Palate was black cherry, baking spices. Seemed like it may have been a bit closed (not sure how long this one was open). I suspect this needs a little more cellar time and a long decant at this time to really show. Nice core fruit.

Solid core of fruit is still pretty tightly wound up inside the tannins. The community drink date of 2015 seems too early, as the expressiveness in this 2008 Barolo has a lot of runway ahead to evolve. Wait until 2019-2021 before trying again.

A rock sold effort by an often overlooked producer. Still very youthful and a touch green, however there was plenty of the roundness and sweet almost lush fruit that made drinking the Barolo perfect with the pasta with tomatoes and veal A gorgeous harmony of flavors, with the right amount of acidity. For the price it was well worth it.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $40+ (Bin 75): Dark core with some clarity, dull crimson rim; strong oak right off the bat, big, green notes, cigar, licorice, iron, nutty, modern Italian; firm tannin, oak tannin, modern; unnecessary flashy style because the wine has good substance and still have to appreciate that.

Lovely floral nose with violets, sweet red fruit, blackcurrants, cinnamon, pepper and bayleaf. Getting better and better every time you try it. Start and mid palate is same as nose but after few seconds there are the rough and young tannins if this great wine. They need time to get fully integrated but I've no doubt that this one got a great future ahead. Now 91 but definate a possible 93-95

From a 375l bottle served after dinner. Nice ruby color only very slightly tanning. Still seems youthful and dynamic. Bright cherry, soft mocha, lots of floral elements in the nose, tingling acidity, long finish. Should continue to drink well for some time.

Decanted for and hour or so. Beautiful bright ruby color fading to a colorless rim. Nose shows dusty sweet cherry, lavender, hint of macadam, some nice florality and a bit of alcohol. Palate carries the cherry through with good earthiness/minerals, firm slightly drying tannins, olive, decent herbaceousness Finish is long and limp - hangs around but without any strength (main downfall otherwise would be 93). Held its own with a rib-eye. Wonderful wine; will drink the nextg bottle with a steak also.

A tour de force of a barolo. Aerated for three hours. The nose is absolutely gorgeous, and also unique. Reveals bright cherry, some raspberry, and some exotic spices and herbs, including lavender. Also a beautiful floral character, with plenty of violets. Palate is balanced, with plenty of acidity. Full tannins. Complex midpalate and beautiful, long finish. Deserves an outstanding score. Still a baby of a wine.

Minneapolis Wine Club Barolos (Pam and Mark's): very dark red color. This has a really unique nose. Kiwi, tropical, strawberry, black cherry, floral, licorice, a candied note, perfume as this opens. This was a bit tight to start, but patience paid off for those that waited. Moderate tannins, but round, integrated well for the age, nice mouth feel, long finish. This really improved over 2 hours and was my #3 WOTN. This should be stellar down the road. 93+pts.
