Nice wine starting to feel it’s age. Nose: forest floor, cherry, a little smoke and leather. Palate: Luxado cherry, leather and some spice. Long finish.

Tinged with amber, so starting to show it's age. A bit closed at first, but opened up after a few minutes. Chocolate, berries and notes of wood smoke. Not one of my favorite Pinot Noirs, but very nice.

Clear ruby red colour, a little purple at the rim. Quite a 'tart' nose, dark cherry, some peppery notes as well. Palate is clean, savoury, integrated but with quite astringent tannin. A little one dimensional perhaps. Will go on, but not sure there is much fruit left to support the softening of those tannins. Enjoyable none the less!

Deep, rich red with cool-climate purple highlights pulling back from the rim, ready to drink. A complex aroma of dark cherry, nutmeg, clove, but mostly a lovely minerality and earthiness. Clean, fresh tart acidity balanced nicely with dark fruit, somewhat astringent tannins and not a notable mouthfeel texture. The finish is balanced with nice fruit, but a monodimensional wine. Middle range Willammette pinot for me.

Wine has clearly begun to fade. Much of the fruit has begun to vanish and not much has come to replace it. Acidity is quite strong and without the fruit it has come a little out of balance.
The nose is still quite nice, and what fruit is left is good. I'm not too sure that this will develop more in bottle. I have one more bottle and really am looking to drink it quickly.

This one surprised me. I wasn't expecting a ton, but this delivered and was a very enjoyable wine. My first sip on opening was bad, but after being open for 3 hours the fruit showed up. Light in body and color, nice balance of fruit and Oregon funk. Great QPR and ready to if you have time to open for a few hours prior to consumption.

Another check in on 2008 Oregon. Dark ruby red. This was extremely tight on both the nose and palate at first, so we dumped into a decanter. Once this opened, the nose was a mix of reductive/funky aromatics and red fruit. Full bodied to be sure. The palate on this one was fascinating and maddening at the same time. This offered layered black and red fruit, but still had some stalky green flavors which combined with the big 2008 structure made this a bit of a challenge until we added some NY strips and grilled veggies. Medium acidity here and a long, tannic finish.
A good, but challenging bottle of wine.

Popped and poured. Should have decanted. Deep ruby color. Expressive nose of cherries, spiced raspberry and smoked oak. Medium body with some good acidity. Subdued big fruit of rainer cherry, cassis and blue notes leading to some vanilla cola and roasted meat notes.

nice nose - lovely slightly wild red cherry, savouriness, touch of spice, even a little wind-blown earth-dust and brown leaves with more air, seemed to yield greater complexity with air; good acidity - refreshing and well balanced, tannins are a little grainy but OK, quite a light wine (surprising given its 14% - would not guess that!), has good palate progression, decent finish too but could be longer

Popped and poured. Medium to medium-plus slightly hazy purple/ruby. Expressive nose of spicy raspberry, fresh cherry, fresh beets and other root vegetables, vanilla spice from oak, and a hint Pinot "funk." Medium-plus body. On the palate, the flavors certainly show the ripeness of 2008 in Oregon and the fruit is similar in profile to the nose with bright flavors of cherry and raspberry leading the way. Additionally, there are definite notes of cola, stem and a flavor of vanilla bean from oak, the latter of which seems slightly more pronounced than is typical in Oregon Pinot. Nonetheless, this is quality juice that is impeccably made and overall well-balanced, aside from the the somewhat chalky tannins that will integrate with further aging. Plus finish. Should be drinking better in 3-5 years and last for many more.

On the nose, cherry brown sugar and subtle spice. On the palette, a bit thin and hot, cherry with acidic finish. I was underwhelmed by this one. Not bad, but not earth shaking either.

Ah I love pinot. Great nose of spices, green tart fruits, pepper, a bit of forrest floor and tangy acids. Perfectly paired with steamed chicken with green onions, mushrooms, soy and butter. Very elegant wine.

Had this at the La Tour, Vail. Tasted alongside a Cali Pinot Noir, Sequana. In contrast to the Cali, a veritable cherry bomb, this was much more subdued and subtle. Mineral notes and smokiness over a layer of red berry. Opened up nicely over the evening. With Marcela, Herbert, Philipe, Monica, Claire, Guilherme and Aline.

Nose is red berries, cinnamon and spicy (stems?). While pretty wound up still, there is some depth to some red/dark berry flavors that show a kiss of sweetness. Enjoyable silky texture and well balanced. Finishes with a spicy fruit note that lingers. I can see this improving with some time in the bottle. Delicious to say the least.

The favorable vintage did very nice things for this cuvee. It's pretty from start to finish, with red fruit that's more pure and less candied than other vintages, plus some floral complexity and an elegant finish. If there were more pinots this good for less than $30, I would drink more pinot.

This was the third of four wines in a blind Pinot Noir showdown we had last night.
My Tasting Notes:
A full nose of black cherry, mascerated strawberry and red currant slides into roasted herb, rose petal and earth. The fine gripped palate is supple and balanced with cranberry and blackberry flavors.

Cristom, St. Innocent, Johan Vineyards (Eola-Amity/Willamette Valley, OR): Fairly light magenta color, expressing a little off balanced green notes on the nose. The palate shows some tart fruit, light green herbaceous flavors, and tart drying tannins. Dry tartness hits hard on the finish. This isn't bad, but kind of lacking that '08 punch of fruit that I like. Feels more like a typical 2007 than '08.
