I love this wine. Funky, feral undertones lend wonderful complexity to black and red fruit, garrigue, and asphalt aromas. It’s full bodied and structured, and bursts with a gorgeous array of fruit, spices, ash, and hard candy succulence. Finishes long, vinous, and worthy of this domaine’s flagship wine. Class, elegance, and terroir in a bottle.

Ten year CdP and Bordeaux retro tasting (with ringers). Hosted by Grinner.
CdP Flight One - Wine Three:
Somewhat subdued expression of funk, dustiness, coal, and ash. Solid in all regards, though nothing stood out. Would not hold bottles beyond three to five years.

The Annual Lyon 10 Year Retrospective (Chateau Lyon): More black than red fruited, this had some kelp/iodine and spice notes. A fine wine that fell off way more than most on day 2, 80pts. Drink/ try one soon.

Opened 1/2 hour before dinner of bbq marinated abicore tuna filet. Consumed in Reidel CdP/Syrah glass. Absolutely stunning wine, wish we had more. We had another bottle, a few months ago, and it was fantastic with a steak.
Dark purple and black fruit with asphalt and coffee grounds; would've thought Bandol mourvedre if I didn't know it was grenache and syrah; carries its 15% abv well, better on second night (and a little lighter, more noticeable acidity), but buckle up because this is a big wine

You can really taste the Grenache. Blackberry, coffee and toast with just a hint of iron and stone on the finish. Surprising sophistication for such a powerful wine. Drinking very well.

Nice CdP with fresh flowers and tar on the nose. Palette is medium with good acid and more red fruit and flowers. Seems like it could use a few more years to mellow out

What a pleasant wine. No alcohol burn like some have mentioned. Earthy, spice, pepper, cherry and tar are what hit me throughout drinking this. A rich and complex character but a really well balanced wine. Tannins are subdued but not flabby at all. I wish I bought more of this

Most of the pro reviews said dense, modern, and full bodied. The bottle I had displayed none of these qualities. It showed it's 50/50 grenache syrah very nicely. Red berry fruit. Pepper. Spice. Perfect place to drink right now. Old vine character. My one complaint is a slight heat on the nose. Besides that, one of the best cdps I've had.

I don't care what it looks like. On the nose saturated ripe (not over-ripe) fruits and herbs, super balance. Palate similar, great Provençal characters but without the alcohol heat of some.
Super super wine, enjoy with rich (probably red meat based) meals - sit back and appreciate a really good wine.

It is just a fantastic wine. Similar profile as the previous bottle initially with red fruit and sweet candy on the nose. However, this time alcohol is more integrated and overall more balanced with all elements. It gets increasingly delicious when it opens up. Not as peppery as the first bottle and the other bigger name Rhone producers. Highly recommended.

Took about 30 mins to open up. Delicate red fruit and sweet candy on the nose. Pepper dominates with relative soft tannins. It is a medium bodied, delicate smooth CDP. Very pleased

Opened up significantly after two hours. This will be best in 3 years but drinks well now with a decant. Interesting new world take on CdP. Very silky texture.

Beautiful garnet color, cassis, menthol and a touch of tobacco on the nose. White pepper, medium body, round in mouth, medium + tannin, integrated, long, smooth finish.

Strangely considering prior reviews, this bottle was relatively restrained, and not a big, over-extracted style. Medium nose; a bit of menthol on the finish. I'll give the other bottles some more time.

50/50 Grenache/Syrah. Stinky old world nose. This is more Grenache-like than most CDP, but also bigger than that. Has that sweet pepper note, then dry black fruit, med plus tannins. Not as floral and delicate as I expected, this a big style, though not in an age-it way. Drink now for a big flavor with good sized tannin. I would look for a different style in CDP at this price point.

Quick note from the Sleight of Hand private CDP party - shocked this was an 09 for how well it was drinking. One of my top wines of the night. The perfect blend of hedonistic fruit backed with old world cdp terrior

modern in style, which actually helped it stay fresh on open. After a couple hours open, fruit faded. Not my favorite but a good value

Slight cork taint, otherwise cherry notes and meaty. Despite that 3 out of 14 put it in their top 5 on a CDP blind tasting evening.

Big, over-ripe and lacks any structure - more like a fruit juice than a wine. Very disappointed as other vintages of this wine are excellent.

Somehow had a creamy nose to start. It quicker blowed off. Evolved quite a bit since last year. Still slightly peppery, balanced nevertheless.
