Great balance. Tasted over 2 days. Dark red fruits, blackberries, hints of leather, licorice. Well intergrated tannins. Enough body to go another two years or so.

Agree with previous review, on the sweet side, plum, with a hint of prune. Easy drinker, merlot smooths out the Syrah well. 3 hrs decant helped. probably should drink my last bottle soon, maybe longer decant...

Decanted an hour, Smoking nose, which after 3 hrs the tail just catches up barely, this needs even more time, nicely wound taninns with oak, blue fruit predictedly in the mix, a short finish now but with a Med cellaring this will hammer out. Try again in 2018. Good juice-

Nose is reticent. I get pull out cherry sweet rolls and a bit of Chambord. On the palate, just the barest suggestion of fruit; like a non-sweet cherry syrup. But the secondary flavors are quite good: Soy sauce and maybe just a touch of spice and black tea. With some time in the glass, the fruit becomes more prominent in both the nose and the palate. That’s not usually the way it goes, but that’s the way it happened for me.
When it touches my palate, it's a much softer texture than I remember from my last bottle. But at the end there are spikes of acid and just a hint of fine drying tannin that give it some assertiveness and backbone and prevent me from saying that it is fully resolved. Still, I’m not sure how long I’d wait before drinking this one.

PnP, I wish I would have waited. The last glass was better than the first. It took a couple hours until the fruit really started to come out. Paired with aged Gouda, worked well with the Syrah/Merlot blend. I will hold the next bottle for a couple years or so.

Aromas of black currant, blackberry, meat and a hint of cedar. The palate matches with medium tannins and acid. Agree this is drinking well now but no hurry.

Pop and pour. Great right out the bottle. Black fruit, pepper, and soft oak. Medium + finish. Gained a little more weight and sweetness with a couple hours of being open. This wine is in a really good place right now.

This wine just tastes clean all the way through the back. It has the fruit of the syrah, but it is mellowed by the merlot and so it doesn't overpower you. Best after being open about 1 hour. Had it with pork ribs and it was perfect. 55% syrah, 35% merlot

Quite impressive with lots of pure red and black fruit, judicious oak, pretty dense but not messy, clean long finish. Made by Michael Browne of Kosta Browne; Syrah and Merlot (!). Brian and Jen's.

This is a pretty good wine but lightweight for a CA Syrah. Nose has ripe dark fruits but not jammy. Body is underwhelming with light peppers, toasty oak and herbs. Finishes a bit short for my liking.

Needed about 1 1/2 hours to show its stuff, big bold Syrah forward wine that began to come together just as the last glasses were poured. Give it a few years to integrate or drink now with a long decant.

No notes taken, but this was quite good. Expressive and elegant nose of mainly red fruit. Equally elegant on the palate, with good flavor intensity. Different (and better) than I expected. Paired very well with filet mignon, bernaise, and porcini risotto.

Showing better, with some perfume and the sharp syrah being slightly less abrupt. Again, what I like about this wine is how well the syrah and merlot are balanced, they fill in all the nooks and crannies of each other. It also moves extremely well from high tones to low tones while being seamless and round. Generous on the pop and pour but lightens quickly on the palate with very fine grained drying tannin. Gobs of fruit in this bottle but it is very well tempered by plenty of earth tones.
After a few hours open, this calms considerably and an intense, wound core of perfume and fresh berries dominates the palate. This, for me, indicates good things. I think this gets better. 93+

Rich, heady nose. Great mixture of spice, red fruit, and floral hints, and acid from two grapes that aren't often mixed. I find this to be lively and ever-changing -- an unstable combination of two grapes that aren't normally mixed. The first bottle of this I had was more muted and dark. Bottle shock, I think. This is what I wanted from it.

Very syrah on the nose but the midpalate is all merlot deftly folded into the pepper and mineral of the syrah, giving it just enough plush. For my taste the syrah component is still a bit sharp and needs time to mellow. This deserves a couple years in my estimation to settle in.

First experience with a syrah/merlot blend. The character of both were there. On the nose, I sensed the lovely aromatics of a syrah, while in the mouth I would have identified it as a bordeaux style blend. Red and dark fruit on the nose and a little bit of oak too. Smooth mouth feel with fine grained tannins and a solid medium finish. Would have liked to wait on this because I think it's still young, but delicious none the less.

Nose of olive, pepper, beef, cherry, leather, plum, some slightly green mercaptan-type aromas, sandalwood, vanilla, chalk and chocolate. The mouth is creamy, with some slight raisin, blueberry, blackberry and pine Nice fine grained tannins, good balance and long finish. Nice, interesting wine, shows the Syrah and the Merlot nicely. The raisin quality comes out more with air.

Jermose virtual Tasting (David T's Home): This had been decanted for two hours. Not sure if that helped or hurt this. My first time trying it. It seemed to be in a bit of a dumb phase. The nose is very tight, but with some coaxing, there is some cocoa, dark cherries and a bit of grilled meats. On the palate, it is more open, but still primary. Cherries and raspberries. I think there is more here. As it drank, it was very good, but I just think there is something else luring underneath.

I can't say I've had a syrah-merlot blend before, and honestly tonight it reminded me of a young cab. Black currant and chocolate aromas on the nose, adding a bit of meat on the palate. Quite acidic, with medium+ tannins and dark fruit on the finish. This is very young, the score reflects its showing on day 1 with a two hour decant, but this needs more time in the cellar and I will update the note if it changes over the next day or two.

14.2% alcohol. An exotic blend of 55% Syrah and 45% Merlot. Dark ruby red. Lovely and expressive red and black fruit aromas. Blackberry, raspberry, black cherry and plum with overtones of pepper and spice. Complex and balanced. The key attributes for me are depth and a luxurious mouthfeel. A Gem? Yes!!!

Jemrose Dinner @ Marche Moderne in the OC (Marche Moderne, Costa Mesa CA): Like the 2006, which we tasted alongside this 2008, made similarly with the syrah seeing no new wood and the merlot the reverse, seeing all new wood. 55% syrah and 45% merlot. The oak shows on the aromatics, kind of soapy at this point, a deep dark wine. Palate shows cherry and cocoa, with some milk chocolate on the finish.

55% Syrah, 45% Merlot. Surprisingly open and accessible now with a core of rich plummy, chocolate-tinged fruit and accents of herbs, chestnut and faint meaty notes. Very polished and finessed with grainy tannins and fine acids noticeable beneath the deep fruit, and serious length. Delicious stuff that's very fun to drink.
