Epic night at Capasso. Tasted blind. Drank in Grassl Cru. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of dark red cherries, black cherries, dark sweet spices, bit of earth and minerality. Developing. On the palate, dry, medium+ just about high acidity, medium alcohol (13.5%), structured medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of black cherries, dark red cherries, sweet dark spices, dark earth. Long spicy finish with some structure. Very good quality. Mini Musigny. Still room for more development.

My impression is consistent with others posted here: Opened before leaving home for restaurant meal, to screen for TCA or other flaws. Deep, youthful bright color. Mute and dull nose; thin and marred by coarse tannins on palate. I grabbed a younger bottle of Volnay to take along as a backup, just in case this failed to improve.
After about an hour’s aeration in Zalto Burgundy glasses, it’s an entirely different wine. Heady, effusive nose of blueberries and raspberries; the palate impression is wild fruit, huckleberries perhaps? Plenty of ripe fruit still with ample fine grained tannin at the back end. It remains a bit disjointed like a gangly adolescent — 15 years from the vintage this still has at least another five years to go before a plateau of reasonable maturity. Overall, it’s true to form: a baby Vogue Musigny.
When I bought six of these some years back for about $100 a cork, the price seemed like a bit of a stretch. Would I pay around $400 a bottle or more for the wine today? No; although it seems people do.
Addendum: About a quarter of this bottle sat in a cool dark spot outdoors for five days. Tasted tonight, it’s pretty much where it was on the day it was uncorked. The nose is a bit plummier, the fruit a bit darker toned, the tannins slightly more pronounced… but having evolved so little in five days, I’d say this wine has years to go in bottle before it will fully bloom.

Opened in HK. Small glass generously shared by friend. Bottle had been open for a while.
My first thought for this wine: 2009 declassified Vogüé Musigny? No chance, there's no way that this would be open.
I was very pleasantly surprised. Red fruit and Chambolle terroir coming out. Still tight with masked tannins, but looser than I thought. Granted this had been open for quite a while, but it was still good to see some semblance of opening up. A lovely treat, thanks once again to JR!
Of course, if you have these bottles, I'd recommend giving them another 10 years - I do believe that patience will be rewarded with upside. That being said, if you do open it now, I wouldn't hesitate to decant, or at least double decant before leaving in the bottle for a while to open up as best it can.

Quite a wonderful Vogue that showed dark fruit, earth, herbs, charcoal and grilled meat. It was ripe and expressive with a rich but not overwhelming palate. 92-93

PNP, first bottle from a 6 pack wood case purchased on release and still wrapped in tissue paper. Deep aromas of black fruits, licorice and toasted/spicy oak. Sweet palate, viscous and concentrated with a nice silky texture, moderate acidity and mineral laden dry extract. Long finish, this comes across as ripe and definitely marked by the vintage, but I really like the texture as it’s not nearly as blocky and four square as many Vogue wines can be.

This wine opened slowly and benefitted from a couple of hours of aeration to reveal a clear yet deep red cherry colour and a lifted and perfumed nose of red cherries, dark raspberries, wild strawberries with touches of pomegranate and rose. The palate is medium weight and recalls the 2009 Musigny VV with less depth and penetrance. There is fine complex fruit that only fully expresses itself over hours followed by some fine grippy tannin and minerality and a tail of pomegranate and red orange with a floral aspect. This is a lovely bottle with loads of Chambolle character that needs patience on opening to fully reveal itself.

Dark red. Initially the nose straddles primary and secondary, red fruits, some soy, savoury nuances, after 10 minutes open transforms into something incredibly Barolo-like, tar and roses, to the extent that I wondered if someone had played a trick on me and substituted a label. Subsequently heathland, confection, florals, spice, very complex. Gentle medium bodied red fruited mineral palate, good acidity, heading to structural resolution. Not quite the complexity of the nose but delicious nonetheless.

Although there was evidence of seepage with this bottle, the fill level was excellent and the wine itself seemed fine. There was a spicy nose with red and black fruits and noticeable oak. The fruit was ripe, with medium acidity and enough fine tannins. I would prefer to leave this longer for further integration of the oak.

Interesting wine, not a big fan of Vogue. I am not saying his wines are bad but when you taste what others produce in the Musigny top plots, especially Grand Cru, he is a last quartile performer... This premier is typical, good but not great. The good points here are the generous sucrosite, the warm 2009 vintage clearly coming through, tannins are tamed, aromas in the earthy spectrum, medium complexity but not rustic as Vogue often is. What is missing here is precise and lively fruit, racy acidity and energy. The wine drinks very tame for grapes that come from the Grand Cru plot. Call me a "raleur" but if you possess wines in this heralded site you have to live with the fact that the bar is high up there. In short, there are better Burgs for 275$.
13.5% Made for vines <- 25yrs old, replanted in 90s. Harvest Separately from the Musigny. Only left w half an hectare of young vines now. Lot of herbs, good weight, perhaps a bit too much that taken away the elegance of a Chambolle. This is a good entry to have an experience with Vogue Musigny, a fraction of the price. Ok when you have this alone, but not so when serving the big Brother from the same vintage in the same line up.

Domaine Wines' Comte Vogue Lunch at Imperial Treasure Singapore. Complete 09 horizontal. Wow! step up from the 09 Chambolle village, different nose, more elegant, red roses, pomegranate, big but very finesse on the palate, grapes from the famed Musigny plot that are 25 years or younger, this would be a smart buy 94

From a Magnum. Definitely opened too early, wine improved massively over a two hour period. This one has decades left to go. An extraordinary complex burgundy, and among the best Premier cru burgundies I have ever tried. Front of the palate Has many different fruits, which continue into a very very long finish. Finish on this one is measured in minutes. Sad that I only have two more magnums to go of this sublime wine.

Opened to slow ox before dinner but this was immediately approachable. Regal and alluring, young, dark fruited and highly perfumed nose, cherry liqueur, cassis, myrtille, bramble, roses, violets, smoke, a hint of animale, gunflint and quite powerful minerality. Real dense, sappy palate containing all of the above but more mineral than fruit, fine tannic structure and high acidity, loads of dry extract. Very long. Probably just starting to open up and probably 10 years away from its zenith, but this was absolutely delicious today.

Bt decant an hour, clear deep red hue, nose of wood spice, alcohol and some hint of floral note. Cobcentrated in mouth, not acidic but more dark fruit sweetness focused, plenty of dry extract aroma, I like the mixture of spice and elegance. Tannin is softening and seems ready for business. Exactly a glimsy of the Musigny VV.

Popped and poured. Sappy dark red/black cherry on the nose and palate. After some vigorous swirling, some faint brown spice notes began to emerge. The ripe fruit hides some of the structure at this point. Great elements all around. A lengthy finish showing great balance. Should be great with time. I would personally not be opening any of mine any time soon, but I have no problem when my friends decide to try theirs...

nose is closed first, something burnt, hint of coffee. black currant. taste is immediate, quite spicy, LOTS of fruit. what a wine, i dont normally decant burgundys that much, i find its often best straight out the bottle, well almost, but this one needs an hour. but what a WINE! its pricy for sure, but rightfully so. this is something different. the finish is neverending. the only reason this is perfect for me, is it just feels ever so slightly bitter. i dunno, i might have opened this bottle far too early. i imagine, in ten years time. this is a 100 points. or close. but AMAZING. no doubt

Popped and poured. Ripe and powerful aromatics. Black cherries dominated the nose with some violets and faint mineral in the background. Ripe cherry on the palate as well. Quite rich, but you can start to see the structure coming out more than it did in previous bottles. I look forward to seeing this in a decade or so.

Opened and drank over 4 hours. Very dense with a dark fruit nose lots of spice and pepper. Blackberry and pepper on the palate with plenty of tannin and acidity. This is a big wine and could easily be a CA pinot. Not the usual elegance of a Vogue premier cru, but I expect this will work itself out. This needs several years.

Bottle had been open (not decanted) for about 3 hours before trying. Showed big fruit right from the start with little else, so I kept a glass on my desk to go back to after another few hours. This seemed to help the fruit soften a bit and expose some of the hidden flavors and aromas, but it is still a pretty big Burgundy that needs time in the cellar. Black cherry and berry with darker floral and spice intermixed together. A lengthy finish.

Knightsbridge 2009 Burgundy Tasting Highlights (Northbrook, IL): Wine tasting. Somewhat reductive, which made it tough to easily assess. Black cherry and blackberry aromas that came across as brooding and slightly slightly unfriendly at first. This wine took some effort with its density, fairly firm tannins, and the reductive quality. Still, the superb fruit quality was clear, with great spice on the finish with a modest gamy character. This took a lot of effort, however, to fully appreciate and will certainly benefit from a decade in the cellar.

Decanted for roughly an hour and then drank over the course of 2 hours. Ripe, powerful aromatics right from the start. Sappy black cherry and berry with great spice notes. A touch of minerality peeked through the fruit as well as some violets. The palate was also quite ripe and powerful with the same fruit profile as on the nose. There is structured buried under all that fruit, so I plan to let all mine age awhile before trying again. A full bodied pinot with a long finish.

Second wine in tonight’s Vogüe 2009 tasting. A clear step up from the lovely village. This is declassified Musigny grapes that goes into this 1:er. Full with flowers and cherry on the nose. Very good minerality and a lively acidity, fresh and young, will need a few years on its own before uncorked. There are no traces of the fruity vintage, with jam fruit, but a balanced and vital wine. This is a great 1:er!

Declassified young vine Musigny (10-25 years of age). Certainly more depth of plush, sweet fruit here. It is round and juicy with refreshing dried flowers and mineral tones. It has good grip to the finish and is long.

Shockingly soft and forward. A veritable Burgundian fruit bomb. Unless this picks up serious weight, Burghound is smoking something when he says start drinking 2019.

Beautiful nose with red sweet berries and minerals. Fresh, elegant and complex with quite some length. I can feel some bitter fruit in the end.

Declassified young vine Musigny (10-25 years of age). Certainly more depth of plush, sweet fruit here. It is round and juicy with refreshing dried flowers and mineral tones. It has good grip to the finish and is long.

At the Domaine: Very creamy, touch of black current, raspberries with terrific minerality and structure. The finish is long, the spices are discrete but prominent. Gorgeous (92-94)

Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé Cellar Visit and Tasting (Chambolle-Musigny): Barrel tasting at the domaine. While similar flavors and aromas to chambolle AC, this is much bigger, denser and meaty. Less accessible as well, much firmer. Will need cellar time. 90-92 point potential.
