Beautifully aromatic nose of fresh cut flowers, especially roses with some lower pitched darker notes from the oak behind it. Tar describes it. Mouth is middle weight. Finish has excellent balance, with more fruit than would have expected from the nose and mouth and excellent tannic grip in the direction of black tea. Not the most complex, but pretty decent complexity and in any event very good and exceeds my expectations.

still fresh after all these years. Vibrant fruit both cherry and dark, great acidity, opens up in glass wonderfully. Tannins are well integrated and soft. Excellent, still had a few years in it but glad I drank it now.

Quite blood red (brown tinged) in the glass. My first thought was a touch worried but Barbaresco is always quite light in colour. Lovely fruit driven Nebbiolo nose, sweet cherry and a touch of violets. Feels mature but maybe it can develop further? Honestly for me why wait- it’s fantastic now. That said, it gathered weight over two days, tannins not even worth mentioning.

Tons of fruit on the nose - black cherries, sour cherries, tar, licorice, sweet cream and pine needles. Sour cherries in front - not completely in balance but still an interesting wine with layered flavors. Finishes with a touch of spice and some chewiness. Very enjoyable.

Dark and brooding w/ tree bark, cocoa, raisins and spice. Fantastic for the price. Still needs time to soften and integrate. Recommend decanting for several hours or keeping in bottle for 2 - 3 years. Very pleasant - black cherry, campfire and spice with a bit of astringency on the finish. Would love to re-taste in several years.

PnP at a restaurant. Terrific Barbaresco aromatics - rose, cherry, and cedar - for the 2 hours of dinner. It had slight, dusty tannin for 10 minutes, but those blew off. In the mouth, we found cherry, leather, and a little earth. Decent structure still, and it did not deteriorate over 2 hours, so it seems like this still has a few years left. Probably not getting better, but in a nice place.

Medium dark red color. Slow-O for 1.5hrs. Nice nose, very aromatic, cedar, wood spice, red fruit, with emerging earth, leather, and red berries. The palate shows wood spice, earth, red berries, kirsch, and some black fruit in the background, tar, soft, dusty tannins, medium full bodied. Very nice and drinking well. 91+pts.

Garnet in color with only light bricking. Aromas of cherry, earth, mushroom, and tar. Medium body, medium(+) acid and finish, still present tannins, though not too in the way, and flavors of cherry, black tea, and tangerine. Unsurprisingly worked well with pizza and mushroom ravioli. Try the next in 2+ years.

Lovely wine; phenomenal QPR ($25 on WTSO). Garnet-turning-brown-ish. Medium-to-wide clear rim with slight bricking at this point. Vanilla, mixed berry pie, mothballs, and mushrooms on the nose. Medium mouth-drying tannins but not out-of-balance. Nice texture on tongue. Balanced acidity. Berry pie on palate. ~20 second finish. First Barbaresco I can say that I enjoyed; another bottle in the cellar will be interesting to sample in years to come. Food-friendly: nicely covered a wide range for vegans and omnivores with salad, Dijon-roasted potatoes, ham, and Italian-style beef roast.

- Garnet color with slow forming legs and aromas of cherry, strawberry and cedar. It's in total harmony and has flavours of coffee and cherry with a full body. Polished texture with a long finish - Decanted 8 hours this time. The wine is very young, hold next one for 7-10 years. Beautiful, velvet tannins.
- Garnet color with fast forming legs and aromas of prune and raisin. It's in total harmony and has flavours of raisin, fig and cherry with a medium/full body. Polished texture with a medium finish - Decanted four hours. Very young, good have decanted longer. Rich tannins, deep nose.

Attractive nose of cherry, lightly roasted coffee, fresh flowers and spice. The wine is dark, with high extract and ripe fruit. Nice balance of acidity and a fresh menthol note on the finish makes this a wine that I would like to purchase again. It probably will improve with a few more years of age, but it is enjoyable now. Even better on second night- sweeter and more aromatic.

Color - Ruby with a tawny tinge around the rim. Pronounced aromas of concentrated, sautéed mushroom broth, dried fig and candied, rum-soaked citrus rind. Fresh, wet hay and a hint of vanilla. On the palate - high acid, integrated wafer-like, papery tannins, salty fig jam, truffle and mushroom pâté, raspberry, strawberry, leather, cedar, coffee and vanilla. Dark chocolate finish. A lot happening here. Salinity-like and savory with age which makes for a fantastic food wine. But not only that, there is plenty of fruitiness and liveliness in this 2006. Upon opening, decant to allow this beast to let it all hang out.

Moderate in color for Barbaresco. Some browning on the edges. Earth and dark fruit nose. Black cherry flavors. Some vanilla notes late on finish. Slight acidity, Good, just not together enough . Might be better in a few years.

91-92. Opened for Thanksgiving with family. Decanted for 6 hours. Wow! Only had a small glass, as everyone else clambered for it. This was the hit of the night. After decant it was wide open and drinking beautifully. Powerful nose and gorgeously inviting on the palate. This wine has depth and complexity that will last for years to come.

Yep, too soon. Nice taste of orange peel and assorted fruits on first sip, but it really shut down in the glass. Will wait a few years before I open the next one.

Nose is of potpourri and the acetone ester often found on too young Nebbiolos. Palate is astringent, tannic with dried cherries. Tight. Shame on me for trying this again so soon. Revisit in late 2016.

Opened this on a whim with a friend without reading what I wrote about my last bottle a year ago, when I said to wait 5 years. Whoops. It was more giving than the last bottle was, though, and even though I think it will continue to get better with age, it's starting to be accessible. We enjoyed it.

Agree with WineCPA, this is still very young, the tannins very firm and nice dried cherry on the palate. I have one more bottle and I won't touch for another 3-4 years.

Moderate in color. Floral nose. There is short lived sweetness on the attack evolving to cherry notes with tannins and acidity. The moderate length finish shows some oak. Although enjoyable not, this Barbaresco that would benefit from additional cellaring.

Dried cherry on the palate. Very firm tannins. Needs time. I would not even attempt the next for a few years- after 2015. Day two with the vitturi didn't help much. Medium bodied.

I think JVG nailed this... opened too early, but lots of florals, red fruit, earth, leather. Tight on the pop and pour, improved with air, but still young and has lots of upside. Unfortunately my only bottle

Nose: Very floral, with both fresh and dried roses and potpourri. Also quite a bit of cinnamon and sweet baking spice to go along with the sour cherry and raspberry fruit. Underneath that is leather, licorice, and maybe a hint of tar, and a whiff of alcohol.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and a bit violent.
Palate: Very firm and very dry, more so on both counts than I expected from the nose. The initial attack is of tanned leather and sticks before the almost sangiovese-like sour cherry makes its way through. Then toward the end you get the dried flowers and peppery spice. The finish is bone dry and austere, with big tight tannins and a not-unpleasant tarry bitterness. The tightness of the finish clips the length a bit (though I'm sure it will open up with time), and again there's a touch too much heat.
This is very young and very tight, and not really drinking yet. The stuffing is all there, though, and it improves with air, so I think it has significant upside. Give it at least a couple and preferably 5+ years and I think it will be very good as long as you don't mind a bit of heat. If you drink it now, decant and serve with robust, well-seared red meat. My score is for the stage it's in right now.

Not very familiar with Barbarescos, so not sure if this is a good one or not. Initially tasted more like a Rhone wine which I'm not crazy about. After it opened up, some of the wet earth taste faded and dried cherries and herbs remained. The result was decent but similar to a Chianti.

Decanted for only about 20 minutes because we were impatient. I think it would benefit from a bit more time opened up though.
Cherry, earth, with rose notes arising as the wine opened up.
Just a really good wine. Nothing out of place.
Drank with a meat and cheese board. It played well with the truffle cheese we had.
