Had with grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. What to serve? Pulled this Malbec. Drinking well now, rounded - full bodied - long clean aftertaste, and paired nicely with the food. sorry it was last bottle.

Drank at the PH dinner. Dark color. Nose is very big blueberry and blackberry. Biossen berry taste with creamy blackberry, good balance, a little bitter, but classic malbec. Nice black currant. Enjoyable and decent for the price.

Nice Malbec I was fortune enough to drink with Paul hobbs. Nose of grass, blueberry, and chocolate, creamy dark cherry on the palate... It was masked a bit by the flavor of the steak - which it went fantastic with - but after drinking on its own started to explose a few weak points, including a lack of depth on the finish with some oak and heat in there as well. Overall, I like this wine and recommend trying it if you are a Malbec fan, but tastes to me more like a $30 range Malbec.

Decanted over 30 mins made a big difference. Raspberry and plum on the nose, the palate was very rich with red fruits and super concentrated. Full-bodied wine that could use some years in the cellar.

Pop and pour. A very good friend made the comment while he was visiting that he did not like Malbec so I ran down to the cellar and grabbed my last one for him to try. Consistant notes as this is one of my favorite wines. They will get a touch better but I enjoy them now.

Gave the wine a little longer decant this time about 2 hours. The tannins were a little softer and the fruit/ spice was a little brighter. Just a lovely Malbec.

Raspberry and plum fruit, with lavender and perfume nose. Transitions to a nice oak finish. Nice purple color and good mouth feel. Very good match with lamb shanks.
10/17/12. Similar notes as last time but tasted some meatiness that balances the fruit.

30 min decant. This is one of my favorites under $40. Should have bought a case. Very consistent notes. I hope I can save a few to see how much better it will be, but its just to darn enjoyable now.

Perfumed nose of wild blueberry pie, blackberry, violets. Full, voluptuous, smooth, creamy texture full of ripe, delicious, juicy black fruit flavors finishing with mocha and spice. Drink now until 2016.

Big Malbec that benefits from decanting. Velvety palate with a tinge of alcohol on the finish. Vanilla, purple stone fruit, a dusty earthiness on the nose.

1 hour decant and drank over the next 2. Dark purple with notes of black fruits, spice and a touch of smoke. The nose seemed to open up more with the fruit and spice showing more than the smoke the longer it was out. The tannins where there but did not feel they were over powering just enough to give it some grip. This wine is young and will get even better. I am starting to like this grape more and more on its on.

Although when we tasted this at the winery yesterday, it was showing round & smooth textural characteristics, tonight it was not so much. Even with the coffee-crusted filet, which had some assertive flavors, the wine was angular and almost hard-edged. Too bad, as I thought I'd finally regained hope in the indigenous varietal. (the score more of a nod to yesterday's experience - really, an average, of sorts.)

Nose a bit more reticent than the cab, with slight perfume, oak, red fruits. Palate shows some bitterness; not as pretty or accomplished as the cab. Heavy tannins, built for the future. Has a slightly plastic flavor that holds this back. 89-90.

Needs to be decanted for an hour. If so, flavors will emerge quite nicely.

Compared this to the Cobos Felino - twice the price but twice the enjoyment. Full of fruit (raspberry) woith a long, smooth finish.

Good, but not exciting. Dark fruit with hints of coffee and lavendar. Tannins a little rough. Could use some time.
