PnP. Very dark maroon with just slight lightening at the rim but no colour change. Fresh dark berry nose that's all black cherry, blueberry compote, black raspberry, ink and suede. Full bodied, good acidity and a strong tannic backbone. Lots of dark berry fruit flavours plus black tea, ink and chalkiness. Big and tight and the acid is a bit high as are the tannins. Might mellow a bit in a 5 more years.
Not much experience with the Tannat grape, but overall very enjoyable and solid. Nice full-body, great color and nose, and plenty of tannins. A long-term keeper and a decent value.
Rhone-ish nose with some VA, leather, some oak (but quite integrated) and some blood/meat/iron. Palate is rounded right up until very end where some etoh shows. Full on ash/charcoal, meat, crushed grapeseeds and assertive tannins - which have mellowed a bit. Not primary any longer - good drinking from now-2025(?)
Day 2: still going strong, perhaps less rounded and more descernable fruit.
This came through Ontario at $23 and is (was) a steal. Lean style, but structured, balanced and good mouth feel with a good finish. Needs a few years in the cellar to lose some of its edge. Each time I have had it, it is way better on the second day which is a good sign that it has the stuffing to improve with further age. What a find-a wine of this quality with 8 years age on it, from a great vintage for $23 (Cdn)-Super value!

Very astringent and tannic. I enjoy both, but it wasn't integrated very well, just in your face and brutish. Would recommend having with chocolate. A little dissapointing, albeit drinkable, I will probably wait a few years for my 2nd. Softened up on day 2. Next time will likely decant and let sit for a while before drinking as the evolution wasn't that thrilling.

Just not ready. Great whiff of dark berry and underbrush right out of the bottle even before pouring. Very dark. In the glass, brooding nose of blood, blood-orange, and bloody iron. I was loving it at this point and anticipating great things. On first entry, still impresses with thick, round texture. But unfortunately, it then suddenly all falls apart. The wine is totally overwhelmed by nasty, metally tannins from there to the finish, with no land in sight. The grape flavors are lost in the mass of tannin. Better 2 hours later, but still tough as granite. This could go to 91 or 92 in 7-10 years, but don't even look in its direction for 5.

very opaque, a black wine with dried cherries and flowers on the nose, dry, masculine, dirty, shows earth, berries, cocoa, leaves, bark and stones, well structured, this will age very nicely, very nice price point, excellent with tomato and meat sauce over pasta, great value, will begin to slowly mature after 2018
Bu dans la station de dégustation de la SAQ. Très Animal, cuir de selle, tabac, feuilles morte. Opaque black in color, this wine (60% Tannat/15% Cabernet Sauvignon/25% Cabernet Franc) reveals intense and focused vanilla, black cherry, clove and wood smoke on the nose. The mouth feel is very full-bodied with more dark fruits and hints of blood and leather. The finish is tight but the black fruits are able to overcome the big tannins and keep the 14.5% abv well under control.
Purchased for $20US, this is a very big, dense wine that opened up and softened nicely over the 90 minutes it was open with dinner. At this price point, it's also an excellent value given the complexity.

Open for 24 hours but not decanted. Impressive wine. Quite dark ruby, and good legs. Nose is complex, with meat, iron, cedar. In the mouth there is good fruit in a well-structured, firm, fleshy format. Chewy and a bit tannic. Abundant black fruits hint at volcanic soil or mountain fruit. Definitely a masculine wine; little finesse here. This is a revelation. 4-12-16-8: 90/100.
Dark, glass-clinging garnet purple hue. Black fruit and meaty leather on the nose and palate. Firm tannins even with a run through the aerator, and medium plus acidity. Not as monstrous as the Bousc can be, but then it's seen nearly seven years.

Decanted. Wine was very rough and tannic, but started to settle down after fifteen minutes. Very deep and rich, but even though this is a 2009 wine, I think it still has more to show and needs more time. I'll try again in 2017 and hold on an official rating. For now 88.

Doft: mörka bär - björnbär, blåbär - stalliga och skitiga toner, tång, läder, lakrits, viol, brända toner åt gummihållet och lite rökigt och animaliskt åt baconhållet Smak: mörk frukt med lite funk, lakrits, kryddigt och örtigt - något örtbittert. Rejält strävt.
Skitgott! Leverar bra denna årgång också. 88p

Too young. Too powerful. Too robust. Too tannic. Too alcoholic.
It's been in the decanter for about 3 hours, and its getting more tannic. A little bit like a moth to a flame, I tend to crack young Madiran and then kick myself for doing so.
As a minimum wait til 2020 for this. Nowhere near what it can and probably will be.
Edit: 6 hours later in the decanter there's loads of black fruit on the nose and some added sweet vanilla on the palate with less robust tannins. Definitely wait a good while.

Big macho wine with a soft entry and spicy nose and then very drying barrel tannins on the finish. I suppose it works at $30 but maybe only for those seriously into Tannat.

I disagree with some of the note that this is highly tannic, it is tannic but very smooth if not velvety. The fruit is subdued a bit but concise and may show more in balance with some age. Slightly vegetal earthy profile. A very pleasant wine that is easy drinking for the kind of wine it is. And my guess would be that it would show better with added age.

The wine is clear and bright with a deep garnet colour.
The nose is clean and developing, showing pronounced intensity aromas of ripe black fruit (dark plums, dark cherries), oak (walnut, clove) and pungent spices (black pepper).
The wine is dry in the mouth with a medium(+) well-integrated acidity. It has high coarse tannins and a medium(+) alcohol. It has a full body and pronounced intensity flavours of ripe black fruit (dark plums, dark cherries), oak (walnut, clove) and pungent spices (black pepper). The finish is long.
It is a very good quality wine. It has a lingering finish and very concentrated flavours. The acidity balances the alcohol providing the wine with some freshness clearly present at the finish, the fruit concentration also helps to balance its firm tannic structure. However it could be more complex.
Can drink now, but it has enough tannic and acidic structure and fruit concentration to develop some more complex tertiary aromas over the next 7-10 years.

Double-decanted for 4 hrs before drinking. Good nose, fruity and some raw meat. Nice fullbodied and went quite well with rare Moose tenderloin. For the price (12 €) it is a great wine, however lacks somewhat in complexity and depth to be fantastic.

This is a handful. Strong prominent tannins but they have a strong base to stand on. nice fruit with lots of flavour. For the price it's exceptional. I think the fact it's so flavourful makes me like it so much; the flavour hides all its flaws.
Delightful, outstanding! A very dark, full-bodied, tannic and thick wine with strong aromas and flavors of dark berries and ink. There is a nice personal touch and soul in this wine. The wine practically requires food now because of the strong tannins, but this will be even greater and more easily accessible after some cellaring.

Medium(-) intensity of aromas of dark berries, morello cherries, plums, some oak and wood, herbs and a little acetone (but nothing that disturbs me). Medium acidity with a good amount of fruit. Quite dry with a touch of astringent tannins. Medium(+) body with good intensity and a medium(+) length. Consistent with previous notes, and as good as always. Though I wished it had been a tiny bit more expressive on the nose.

In a sea of fruit driven wines at Systembolaget (Swedish monopoly) this is a welcomed gem. Though there is plenty of dark berries, blackcurrant, blackberries, plums and sweet cherries there is also lots of herbs, star anise, lingonberries and slight rubber. High, lively acidity, good intensity and length. This is without a doubt a quality wine. Good structure and tannins just ads to the pleasure!

Great QPR! N: plenty of fruit, inky fruit. Blackberries, cassis, liquorice and a slight touch of funk. There's also a bit of burnt rubber. M: plenty of tannins, generous fruit, good intensity and length. Only thing bringing it down a bit is a somewhat low acidity.

Skitgott! Leverar bra denna årgång också. 88p

On day two, earthy and barnyard, much like a very traditional Bordeaux.

Smells like cut and dried wood. Just opened. Palate works it out, very aggressive tannins, but integrated in there.

Vin très tannique. Arômes fruités moyens. Un peu épicé. Meilleur après 1-2 jours. Prendre l'air lui fait le plus grand bien. Encore beaucoup de matière pour vieillir quelques années.
Prochaine bouteille 2019.
