Burgundy night at IT Paragon: Was kicking myself not guessing this, was between PYCM (for the reductive but ripe fruit) or Ramonet (for the spearmint note on the nose) Chassagne but went for the latter. Clearly a warm vintage but drinking so youthfully that I went for 2015. Very linear and well-balanced, a profile of white Burgundy that was very much up my alley.

Second bottle of three and just gorgeous. Same as first note with usual reductive nose and green hue. Maybe it was the right wine on the night as tempted to go even higher score wise but certainly very enjoyable. Resolved and round but with decent enough verve to hold up and keep fresh.

This has been consistently lovely, and bottle ten from the case is no different. Nicely mature, classic PYCM feel to it, rounded mid-palate and a positive finish. Elegant, smooth and perfectly balanced. ****

Lovely nose though some sulphur initially which eases quickly. Oak there but very nicely integrated though supports . Lovely easy drinking with enough cut on the finish to wrap up a mid weight wine with decent richness. Paired with roast pork but a good proportion of the bottle was gone before the food was ready. 91+ ? Would like to try another bottle soon

Gorgeous from the off, tonight. Pale to mid coloured, but more green than straw; lovely nose with a sense of richness and PYCM luxe which follows through on the palate, tempered by a lime cut and mineral line on the finish. Very smart. ****

Really smart burgundy. Green tinge, big struck match reduction on opening. This blows off and shows grapefruit, citrus fruit, stones, chalky. Linear and just a touch of juiciness. Carafe if drinking now, but no rush to at all

Very light lemon colour. Nose offers up a little matchstick, citrus, flowers and white pepper. Nice rich fruit and excellent minerality.VG 1er cru St Aubin from top producer.

Really lovely. Classic PYCM ever so slightly reductive struck match and toasty richness, minerality but some mid-palate padding before a fresh finish. Luxe. Absolutely spot on. ****

Pale to mid straw. Luxe nose, very PYCM with an added layer of toasty richness. Mineral, good line and length, a little more padding around the attack than previous bottle without losing its shape. Lovely. ****

Pale to mid straw with green tints. Initially quite rich and rounded on the nose and palate, tightening up with some air. Nicely mineral and lime-tinged. Good line and moderately long, positive finish. Lovely. ****

The nose is very intense, with lemon, some nuts, saline concentration and prominent matchstick and oak. This reminds me some of Coche or Leflaive, but here it feels like the wine is trying to hard. The palate is, again, concentrated with lots of lemon, lemon drops, some minerals, saline, nuts, and more of the matchstick and oak. This is rich, but seems a little blunt. It has acidity, so that's not the issue. To me, it just feels heavy. Now, I know this isn't a Chevalier Montrachet, but even in St. Aubin, I think a lighter touch or a better year could do a lot. Nose - 4.5/6, Palate - 4/6, Finish - 4/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 0.5/2 = 13/20.

Our First Acker Auction (Marea in NYC): The first of what was to be just too many chardonnay based wines for me. This was one of my favorites perhaps because I was not yet overwhelmed. Easy and elegant, lemon and a touch of greener notes - like a tree leaf, not a piece of grass. Decent acidity. Good and a pretty good pairing with the crudo dish served.

CT Tasting Group (My House): Grapefruit, matchstick and sulfur on the nose. Bold and fat on the palate showing some petrol notes, yeast and a distinct waxiness. Malolactic fermentation very evident. The body is very characteristic of the ’09 vintage and overshadows some of the brightness of this wine. Lengthy finish. Good to Very Good.
As with past bottles, when I returned to this on day 3 there was a wisp of cat on the nose and the fleshiness of the body had subsided to reveal a piercing lemony acidity. Very Good.

Once again I'm left underwhelmed by a PYCM. The last one I had ('09 Vide Bourse) was a mess of too much oak and sulfur. Here, it's just too much sulfur - the oak's noticeable but kept in check, framing ripe pear and citrus fruit with some chalky notes beneath, but there's a lot of sulfury funk that overwhelms it, and it feels a bit soft on the palate, leaving me wanting a bit more acidity and focus.

Golden yellow in the glass with a blue-green hue, similar to a Meursault. It dances around the glass like a normal white burgundy from Cote de Beaune. The nose doesn’t give much away, mostly grapefruit and tropical fruits with a petrol overtone that blows off after a while. The palate is a different story. The wine has a beautiful balance of citric acidity and toasted oak (seems like new oak). These are the primary notes, the acid in the form of grapefruit. There is a chalkiness that keeps it light, lemon zest, and an interesting hint of roasted coffee beans on the finish. After some air the finish, which is lengthy, took on an additional note of mint leaf. Despite the youthfulness of this wine all the flavors complement each other quite well at this point in time. The only drawback is a somewhat indistinguishable sulfur/ mustiness associated with this wine that I can’t seem to place. It doesn’t come directly off the nose or palate but appears and disappears with regularity. It is either a flaw, site-specific or from my stemware. Excluding this fact this is Very Good and came together very nicely on day two.

Light straw colour, hints of green. Some sulphur on the nose but this blows off. Rich mealy, lactic nose with a bit of wood showing. Very rich, ripe fruit on the palate with pear and marzipan. Good body but also a nice lick of lemony acid to carry through the finish. Definite 2009 vintage character showing through and you wouldn’t call this reserved or complex, but what a lot of instant pleasure in a modestly priced parcel.

Big nose - lots of sweet oak, lemon, smoke, some butterscotch, some brown spices. Not subtle but bold and lively. Big and bright. Lots of lemon, some sweet oak. Excellent mouthfeel, good acid. Lively and young. Lots of stuffing. Not the most complex, but a lot going for it. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 4.5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15.5/20.

Big, rich, impressive for St, Aubin but showing a bit too much wood for me now, but not in a supertoasty style, so I think it will integrate. I'm saying B- now, but B+ potential.
