I was surprised by this 2017. Very drinkable right now. Solid performance with all primary and secondary aromatics. Subtle but very nice. Drinks well without food. Nice go to for an easy evening.

Double Decanted two hours before drinking and went back in the bottle. Ruby. Complex. On the nose, right at first. Red currant, licorice, violet and dark fruits. After a bit of air, raspberry, rose and violet. Chalk notes (but isn’t the soil here more stone?). Vanilla is smooth and deep, but not overbearing. Baking spices - clove? After more air, leather and musk emerge. Chocolate. Menthol or eucalyptus. Hay or meadow notes. Elderberry or white flower? Tannins smooth out quickly with air in the glass. A fascinating journey through aromatics. Each one emerges and then fades into the next scent. Easy and elegant. Even the tastes change as you go along! Fascinating.

Color medium complexity. Brick leaning garnet. Clear halo. 1998 an excellent year. Musk on the nose jumps out. Red currant. Floral notes (delicate crushed rose petal) This wine still has a lot of life in it! On the palate, it was a bit thin. Perhaps it was decanted too long ago? I would like to try this with less air on it on another occasion.
