Drank from 375. First day couldn't get much from it, these notes are after bottle being open for 2 days.
Not much nose still, faint black/red fruit (blackberry and raspberry) but very closed off. The very beginning of some herbal notes the longer it's in the glass. Palate more open - pretty strong cranberry note/texture from young tannin, but with some nice tart cherry/black cherry mixed in. Very creamy texture, reminiscent of big/dark Napa cabs in their youth. Approaches a kind of char note but doesn't quite get there.
Big picture, still way too early to drink, but goodness knows I've got enough stored away and decided to take a flier on a cheap half bottle to see what I was working with. Next time will try with a much longer decant vs sitting in the bottle.

Nose - strong graphite or even tire rubber at first smell (not unpleasant)but this fades after the first 10 minutes. Behind that, very ripe blue and black fruit, like a day or two before it goes mushy. Verging on blueberry pie but not syrupy. Some barnyard at the very end.
Palate - Mouth coating. Still very fresh and supple fruit. Definite cured meat note on the end, the effect compounded by a pleasantly viscous finish. Still firm enough tannins to be noticeable. Fruit lingers on the palate for a while.
Tasting this blind I’d never have guessed the age. Really enjoying it today but clearly has more years to run, would say pretty decent upside still from here. Also have a 2009 to try, will be interesting to compare the two.

Day one was very tightly wound on the nose. Palate had pretty rough tannins covering up hints of nice blue fruit. Overall, wine clearly needed more time.
Day two had more of a floral nose in addition to some nice ripe black cherry. Even developed some nice rare meat notes (seared but not charred, and not funky enough to be cured) on the second glass. Palate much sweeter with the tannins relaxing but still very much present. Probably won't make it to day 3 but I'd expect further improvement. Have another bottle and will try to forget about it for a couple of years.
