Nose - strong graphite or even tire rubber at first smell (not unpleasant)but this fades after the first 10 minutes. Behind that, very ripe blue and black fruit, like a day or two before it goes mushy. Verging on blueberry pie but not syrupy. Some barnyard at the very end.
Palate - Mouth coating. Still very fresh and supple fruit. Definite cured meat note on the end, the effect compounded by a pleasantly viscous finish. Still firm enough tannins to be noticeable. Fruit lingers on the palate for a while.
Tasting this blind I’d never have guessed the age. Really enjoying it today but clearly has more years to run, would say pretty decent upside still from here. Also have a 2009 to try, will be interesting to compare the two.

Less evolved than the last bottle tasted 3 years ago. But again it did not come close to the high expectations we had, based on professional reviews. This is quite a bruiser of a wine with a ripe fruit quite in line with Gigondas standards, lots of rum pot flavors, a high dose of oak with lots of charcoal and cigarette ash that I did not find very appealing, a bit vegetal/leafy too. Tannins are silky and of high quality. There is a bright acidity as well, but it didn't seem integrated. All in all, it is another somewhat dissapointing high-end Southern Rhone from the 2007 vintage. Drink or hold +5-8 years. - 89 points

Big, alcoholic, not my style anymore. Overpowers even beef short ribs. We tossed it and drank it with the 2017 Perrin Nature Cote de Rhone that was left over from cooking and it was way nicer.

There is a surprising spine of acid that generates interest in this beautiful wine. I smells and tastes of various dark fruits, has good balance, and an excellent mouthfeel. It did seem to have a bit too much alcohol on the finish. We did not decant this bottle for fear of over-oxidizing it. There were some solid is our glasses as a result. After opening up in the glass, the wine showed great potential for a good future. There was nothing that gave away its age.

2007 St. Cosme Le Claux Gigondas. Dark blue fruit, some earth and a touch of Brett? At peak. Delicious but not incredible.
