12.5% - Clear, bright gold hue / clean, pronounced intensity of ripe apricot, honey, yellow apple, white peach, light petrol, smokiness, fir / dry, high zippy acidity, med body with glycerine roundness, med+ intensity, persistent finish. Elegant, balanced, well a textbook Alsatian riesling!

Bottled later than normal, because it took 18 months to finish the fermentation. 12,5% alcohol, 7,3 g/l of residual sugar, 6,6 g/l of acidity and pH 3,1. Tasted half blind.
Pale honeyed yellow color. Distinctive and somewhat weird nose with smoke and even something slightly gaseous, zesty key lime, some herbal pilsener character, a little bit of light honeyed tones, light funky tones, a spicy hint of peppercorns and a sweeter touch of pineapple. The wine is ripe, broad and medium-to-moderately full-bodied but not heavy on the palate with rich and quite concentrated flavors of white peach, some steely minerality, a little bit of gunpowder smoke, light developed notes of wizened apricots and a touch of savory spice. The high acidity keeps the concentrated well in check and lends good sense of structure to the wine. The finish is lively, long and quite acid-driven with complex flavors of pineapple, some apricot, a little bit of tart green apple, light bitter notes of chalky minerality, a hint of herbal spice and a touch of fresh white peach.
The nose here was quite weird and somewhat atypical for a Riesling with its somewhat smoky and even slightly gaseous aromas, but on the palate the wine was more typical in style with good sense of concentration and acid structure. The overall style is quite rich and serious, retaining still quite a bit of youthfulness with quite little in the way of developed characteristics. Despite its idiosyncratic characteristics, this was all in all a quite lovely effort for an Alsatian Riesling, coming across slightly lighter and leaner than a typical Alsatian Riesling. Solid value at 26,87€.

Oily and heavy style which has freshness to it, wild strawberry flavours, ripe but nicely fresh tropical fruit, mineral peach stone, very delicious, nice acidity and complexity.

Lots of mature riesling flavour, some kerosine. Somewhat surprised how fast this has matured - it would have been slower under screwcap I expect.
