  • Coravin fun - Bordeaux (My place, Burwood): From Coravin. Medium minus intensity aromas show a little barbecue meat, bonfire, Asian five spice. With agitation fresh blackcurrant backed by a little plum, touch of farmyard. Juicy, savoury, plentiful drying tannins are relatively silky textured, fruit in the background, needs protein to play nice. Woof.

  • Developing and drinking very well, every bit as good as the last bottle.
For reasons I won’t explain, I had a glass of this with a lightly-spiced home-made chicken biryani. The wine handled it amazingly well and the food did nothing to damage the wine, quite the reverse!
After food, it was very good on its own. Good stuff, really showing its class now.
Note: it was excellent next day.

  • The first of a dozen. Worth waiting - it is mature and was enjoyable from the off.
Good nose. After 4+ hours, the palate was earthy but soft, rich, and full, with gentle, integrated tannins. Dark-skinned fruit with good balance and complexity; some typical Cissac austerity. Slightly ‘woody’ at first, but this developed into pronounced cedar on the long palate.
It has reached a good point in its development - definitely ready and very ‘together’.

  • Needed decanting - initially rather woody, almost sous bois with redcurrant notes but after an hour’s air opened to cedar wood and red and blackcurrants, palate quite interesting with some tertiary flavours discernible. Nice balance and length. I prefer this to La Tour de By 2011.

  • Good value mature Médoc with no bells or whistles but good to drink now. Almost a blueberry hit on the slightly scented nose, but the palate has rich fruit, soft tannins and good balance. Thursday night supper wine!
