Worked very well with pork tenderloin with stone ground mustard, brown sugar, dry vermouth, and fresh rosemary reduction sauce. Flavors played very well together!

An initial reduction here? Then lifted notes of mineral, red plum and raspberry with notes of balsamic and bay leaf, cigarette ash (evergreen leaves?) and a light vanilla streak. Light to medium-bodied, the wine is slightly held back but shows a lively acid, soft sandy tannins, and medium length. There are liquorice and tobacco leaf flavours, some musty old oak at times and relatively lightweight. Elegant but relatively simple fare.

Terroir-istes International - Spain, Rioja Alavesa (And Alava) (Overgaauw Wine Estate): (Tasted Blind) Lifted aromas of ripe fruits, liquorice bark, sour cherries, baked plums, old damp wood and savoury elements. Light to medium-bodied with some textural richness yet fresh and balanced with precise acidity. Quite an intriguing wine, intense with evident Garnacha that display as older wood notes, soy, scorched earth, cherry coulis, baked red plum, dried strawberry and hot spices that run through the mid-palate. A supple wine with some herbal notes and a touch of brown sugar, the wine is down the line approachable. slightly chewy tannins on the finish.

Nice medium bodied wine but probably a bit overrated by Wine Spectator in my opinion.
