  • Very unique wine. Year after year it gets top ratings from wine critics and year after year it keeps prices very low. I got it for 14.60 €. I had 2 other vintages and I liked them both. 2013 and 2018 .

Let's see if this vintage is any different.
    An hour in the decanter.
And...it is. Too much acidity, that is out of balance with red fruits. Too simple smell and taste. Just red currant cranberry, red cherry. Short finish with acidity and some kind of spice.
Good wine with red meat, absolutely no good just for sipping. Simple juice.
I don't know if wine has changed or my taste.

Bra prisa-value

  • Rather reserved but very pleasant nose with only a hint of well integrated wood; on the palate it has red fruits, raspberries, rose hips, sweet cherries, redcurrants; not too long a finish, but overall a very consistent and likeable Rioja; drink now or within the next five years; for 13 Euros a clear buy. I like it a lot.

  • Nose: sweet fruit, red, strawberries/raspberries, floral notes? Really beautiful aromas

Palate: really velvety tannins, acidity lower than expected, moderate maybe, still good freshness.

Clashed a little with bolognese - created slight harshness of the acidity. Wonderful with some cheese though 😋

    Wears its 14.5% well.

Lovely wine, I can see that, but was somewhat underwhelmed and unenthused by it, was I expecting too much after gushing JR review of 2018?

  • Served by the glass. Another wine based on the garnacha grape from La Rioja baja, oriental pardon, specifically from Alfaro. The organic wine label is possible but I doubt its artisanal character when the Palacios family produce nothing less than more than 600,000 bottles per year with an alcoholic strength of 14.5%. Clearly you have to live selling this stuff. Just like in Quiñón de Valmira, only 5% is not Grenache. On the nose it is markedly floral, with some stone fruit. Very direct and obvious. On the palate it is fleshy, earthy, fruity with a low retention. Personal friendship will continue to ensure high scores without a doubt.
