From a half bottle. Dull garnet colour, showing signs of maturity. The nose was a delight on Day 1, but had become rather spirity by Day 2, smothering everything else. However, on the palate, it delivered as well on Day 2 as Day 1. Impressively concentrated, with just enough acid to put some punch behind the delivery of mouthfilling flavours of plum and black fruit. Sweet, but not at all cloying, again thanks to the acidity. Very long finish. In a very good drinking window now.

This wine has a solid cork with medium sediment (needs filtering). The nose is a medium intensity with a slightly sharp alcohol smell mixed with black currant and raisin. The hard palate starts with a fine pipe tobacco flavor and transitions into black currant and raisin flavor with a hint of prune or plum with earthy tannins. The back finish is slightly dry.
I have been told that I tend to score 1-2 points lower than the average.

Charity Wine Pairings for Hospice House Auction winners; 4/6/2024-4/7/2024 (Bellingham): Paired with a delicous stilton cheese. If this half bottle is indicative, Warré triumphed in 2000. Dark dark dark in the glass, but full of energy. Black fruits, dark chocolate, cassis. Balance and finessed.

"An evening of Port with the Symingtons" at BBR (BBR): Pretty punchy. Hint of nail varnish remover; fruit is for me in a bit of a dumb phase. Still closed? Or perhaps a sub-optimal bottle. not rated.
