Gorgeous. From magnum, this bottle had a little funk which blew off to show beef blood, garrigue and mineral. Thin but rich and satisfying. My favorite vintages are 1981, 1983 and 1985 - in that order. Shame they don’t make it like this anymore. 95pts

Pristine example. Right in the sweet spot of maturity. On the riper end of the Beaucastel spectrum, but overall a classic presentation with good density of ripe fruit on the palate.
